* AchievementsInIgnorance: Kenji receives what he thinks is a mathematical equation that needs solving online, and he solves it. It turns out he may have hacked into Oz systems and let Love Machine run riot. [[spoiler:Turns out his account was stolen alongside everyone's who tried to solve the code regardless if they solved it or not. Sakuma reveals he got the code wrong by one letter, but his account was stolen and used by Love Machine.]]

The BlackSheep of the Jinnouchi family. Wabisuke is the illegitimate son of Sakae's late husband, but was happily adopted by Sakae. Ten years ago, he stole a large amount of the family's money to make it in America. He mysteriously returns to the family on the eve of Sakae's 90th birthday.

* FreudianExcuse: Sells off his portion of grandpa Tokue's inheritance in order to fund his computer science education in America. His family believes he did it selfishly but it was actually so he could land a contract with the US military to bring wealth back to his family. Self-conscious about his bastard origins, he was just looking for a SoProudOfYou moment from his adopted mother Sakae. Plus, the manga hints that even during his childhood some members of the Jinnouchi family had a hard time accepting him because of his origins, which fueled his desire to prove himself.

Natsuki's extended family who come together to celebrate Sakae's 90th birthday, but end up playing a role in battling Love Machine. The family were once rich and a powerful clan in the 17th Century, but Sakae's husband lost it all leaving them with only a BigFancyHouse. However, most of the family members work in handy jobs (doctor, IT technician, sailor, cop, [=JGSDF=] member).

* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: They have their moments. Mansuke and Mansaku (Sakae's sons) both ask Kenji if he and Natsuki have done it. Then the whole family forces Kenji and Natsuki to kiss in the finale.
* ApronMatron: Mariko, the eldest and only daughter of Sakae's three biological kids. While she isn’t as fierce as Sakae herself, she still manages to help with Love Machine.
* BadassFamily: Hell yeah! They will stop at nothing to halt Love Machine. Mansuke is very proud of the achievements of the clan's ancestors, fighting off seven-thousand soldiers loyal to the Tokugawa shogunate. Sakae has samurai armour and a number of weapons on display in her house. Most members of the family have badass skills or work in jobs in connection to Japan's society.
