- Embarrassing First Name: Tyson, which he doesn't like all that much and is the reason he goes by Tyranno.
- Freakiness Shame: He's nervous to bring up his Dino-DNA to Rosa but she couldn't care less.
- Innocently Insensitive: In The Genius and the Panty Raid it's made clear that Hassleberry's friendship with Jaden is making Syrus worried about being replaced and tossed aside, all while Hassleberry is oblivious to the impact he's having.
- Officer and a Gentleman: He's not actually military but does otherwise act like this. He even name drops the trope in A Guy's Worst Nightmare.
Rosa Jimenez
- Dark and Troubled Past: Downplayed. She's had other suitors before Hassleberry but only one of them could clear her father's Engagement Challenge. The one who did however had... less than honorable intentions for her.
- Gratuitous Spanish: Frequently mixes Spanish and English as she talks.
- Spicy Latina: She's Hispanic and has one fiery temper.
Chazz Princeton
- Dark and Troubled Past: His mother died from complications with his birth and he was stuck being raised by his abusive brothers for most of his life.

- Loving a Shadow: He admits to Alexis that his crush on her wasn't as sincere as he made it out to be.
