Heroines

    Flora
I will return them to her. The castle, the vassals... the throne, the country, everything. I will give her back all. After all, the princess is everything to me. I love her so much.

The protagonist of the manga. A knight who is the daughter of chief soldier Azafh and the sworn protector of Princess Skw'ah, and accompanies her to the convent that the Queen banishes her to. She is in love with Skw'ah, but hides her feelings.

  • Denied Food as Punishment: After making a mess of the convent in her failed attempt to catch a pheasant so Princess Skw'ah can have some meat, Yajenka senda her to the cells without dinner. Thankfully for Flora, Mahlno is nice enough to sneak some dinner in anyway.
  • Godiva Hair: In Chapter 3, her hair covers her breasts.
  • The Heroine: She is the protagonist fighting against the evil Lord Swey and his plans to take over the kingdom by marrying Princess Skw'ah.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: Female example, being a Yuri Genre manga, but she is the champion and eventual lover of Princess Skw'ah who valiantly protects her and the nuns of the convent against the greedy Lord Swey and other villains.
  • Lady-In-Waiting: The personal assistant and protector of Princess Skw'ah. She also happens to have a crush on her liege.
  • Literal Disarming: She gets her right arm, her sword-wailing arm, chopped off by Swey’s sword.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She gets the most shots of her breasts and butt, especially in Chapter 12.
  • Now That's Using Your Teeth!: In Chapter 8, she bites down on a sword the captain has pointed at her.
  • Show Some Leg: In Chapter 7, when she is imprisoned by Swey’s men, she flirts with the cell guard, offering sex and showing off her body, to get the guard to come close so she can break free. Sadly, Swey comes in and stops her plan.
  • Tongue Trauma: Swey puts a knife on her tongue while interrogating her, resulting in her tongue bleeding.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Skw'ah. She risks life and limb battling Lord Swey to protect Skw'ah from him, offers her head to the Queen in place of Princess Skw’ah when the Queen wants to behead her, and gets into conflict with the other nuns because she wants them to provide the best for Skw’ah.
For you, I would break my blade! I would become laundress or hairdresser! Either dressing you, or the laundry, all these mundane tasks... allow me to take care of them, I beg of you! I know you want to keep me away because of my coarseness, but... in spite of everything... I’m... your Lady-In-Waiting!

    Princess Skw'ah
The deuteragonist and title character of the manga. She was banished by the Queen to a convent, and is accompanied by Flora. Lord Swey kidnaps her in order to marry her and gain the throne for himself.
  • Damsel in Distress: Upon being kidnapped by Lord Swey, who wants to force her to marry him so he can become king.
  • Hidden Disdain Reveal: After Flora lovingly tended to her for so long, she subverts a Love Confession by revealing that she hated her. Though she dropped it at some point and genuinely fell in love.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Upon first meeting Flora, she tells the dark-skinned girl to clean her “dirty” skin, not realizing that her color is natural.
  • Love Confession: Subverted; it looks like she is going to give one in Chapter 10, but then turns around and confesses to always having hated Flora. Double Subverted later that same chapter when she confesses that she stopped hating Flora at some point and has fallen in love with her.
  • Princess Classic: She is a princess who is regal, kind, and beloved by her people. She also becomes a Damsel in Distress.
  • Secondary Character Title: She is the Princess of the manga, but Flora, her knight, is the protagonist.
  • Sheltered Aristocrat: As a princess, she wears a fancy dress and has a lot of jewelry, but she is willing to assimilate herself into the convent and live just like they do - while she still has her fancy dress, she insists on eating the same plain bread and bean soup meal they all do, even as Flora insists she get some meat.

    Mahlno
A plucky girl at the convent.
  • Childish Tooth Gap: Has a small tooth gap and is very childlike.
  • Rousing Speech: Just when Flora is beginning to lose hope that she can protect Skw’ah, she snaps her out of it.
What’s this? Eh? What’s this? What does it mean? Why not show me that courage? “The servant of the princess is me... not you! I adore her! I love her to death!” That’s what you said, didn’t you? Is this situation really alright for you? But you’re not very smart! So, no use to think about complicated things!
  • Shipper on Deck: She very much supports Flora getting together with Skw’ah.

    Yajenka
A nun at the convent who is rather mean-spirited and often butts heads with the kinder Flora.
  • Alpha Bitch: Is basically this for the nuns, as she is catty, a bully to Flora, and likes to strip other girls of their clothes when drunk.
  • Anti-Hero: She is on the side of the heroes, but is an Alpha Bitch and is willing to get her hands dirty- for instance, when the bandits invade at the beginning, she suggests sacrificing an innocent nun as bait while the others escape. She later actually does this with a kid she pays to dress up like Skw’ah.
  • Establishing Character Moment: In Chapter 1, she takes the necklace that Flora has been searching for and plays keep-away with it, insults Princess Skw'ah, and throws Flora to the ground while lying on top of her, setting herself up as the Alpha Bitch and Flora's flirtatious, haughty rival.
  • Foe Romance Subtext: Mostly on her part, as she repeatedly takes flirtatious actions with Flora, from hugging and getting physically close to her (at one point doing so while naked) to outright kissing her at one point.
  • Good All Along: Despite her antagonism towards Flora, she does want to protect Skw’ah. And it turns out she was sent by Prince Ruhl’ks to keep an eye on her.
  • The Mole: For Prince Ruhl’ks, who sent her there to help Flora protect Princess Skw’ah.
  • Nun Too Holy: She is a nun at the convent who also happens to be the convent's Alpha Bitch.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: While not quite a villain, she makes a disparaging remark about Flora’s darker skin, claiming it to be “impure”.
  • Properly Paranoid: She refuses to let the knight Th'na in, saying that the convent will never accommodate men. While this initially seems like her being her Jerkass self, it turns out that Th'na is in league with some bandits.

Antagonists

    Lord Swey
The antagonist of the manga. He is a noble, the second son of House Dozr'g, who desires to become king, and wants to make Princess Skw'ah marry him.
  • Ambition Is Evil: His desire to rule over the kingdom drives him to murder many innocents.
  • And Now You Must Marry Me: He kidnaps Princess Skw'ah to make her marry him just so he can become the new king.
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: He is a Lord who desires to become king, and is the Big Bad of the manga as well as the cruelest character who is willing to sacrifice many innocents for the sake of power.
  • Big Bad: He kidnaps Princess Skw'ah to make her marry him to he can become king, with the heroine Flora seeking to rescue her from him, and his schemes are what drive the plot. The Queen and Prince, despite being the ones who banished Skw'ah to the convent, play much less of a role.
  • Dragon-in-Chief: As a noble, he technically serves the Queen and Prince who banished Princess Skw'ah to a convent and thus started the conflict, but whereas those two have only two scenes and stay in the sidelines, Swey is the one who drives the plot with his own plan to forcibly marry Skw'ah- and he has made it no secret that he has no loyalty to the royal family and plots to usurp them once he has become Skw'ah's husband. Ultimately, he becomes Flora's Arch-Enemy and the Final Boss of the series, while the Queen is quickly dealt with afterwards.
  • Fur and Loathing: Being a malicious, arrogant noble, he likes to wear fur coats.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: He gets a small pitchfork stabbed through his hand, causing a very bloody wound, and pulls it off while saying it only hurts “a little” and completely forgetting about it, never losing his ruthless demeanor.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: He tells Flora at one point that it is “every boy’s dream” to marry a princess and become king, and that she cannot understand because she is a woman. Later, he calls women “pale imitations... created in the image of man, from his rib”.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: In his introduction, he kills a bandit who is about to rape Flora. However, he did this more because he needed the bandit out of the way as part of his plan (and he manipulated the bandits into invading the convent in the first place)- not only does he try to kill Flora later, but he is fully willing to have Yajenka subjected to sexual torture by his men, and later makes it clear he intends to rape Princess Skw'ah after force-marrying her, so he clearly has no moral computations against rape.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: He has Yajenka chained to a table naked and sexually tortured by his men, and is planning to rape Princess Skw'ah after their forced marriage. This serves to mark him as the most evil character in the manga.
  • The Sociopath: He wants to become king and, to this end, is willing to manipulate and kill anyone who he sees as in his way, even innocents.
  • The Starscream: As a noble, he works under the Queen and Prince, but is planning to forcibly marry Princess Skw'ah so he can overthrow them and become the king instead.
  • "Take That!" Kiss: Gives one to Princess Skw’ah, who he intends to forcibly marry for the throne, after chopping off her Love Interest Flora’s arm and leaving her to die, as a way of telling Skw’ah that she “belongs” to him now.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: According to Flora, he is known for “heroic deeds and bravery”, but in the story, he shows himself to be a power-hungry noble who wants the throne and is willing to kill and rape to that end.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He has his men tie up a child and push her off into a river, leaving her to drown.

    Sir Ph’dy
Lord Swey’s right-hand man.
  • The Dragon: He assists Lord Swey in his plans and leads their forces whenever Swey isn’t around.
  • Fat Bastard: Is rather rotund and is The Dragon to Swey who aids his Evil Plan to kidnap and forcibly marry the princess.

    The Captain
A knight captain who works for Swey.

    The Queen
The wife of the now-deceased king who proposed up her son as the heir for the throne. She agreed to banish Princess Skw’ah to secure her power, with the Crown Prince, her son, being her puppet.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: She is a nasty wannabe-tyrant who plots to manipulate her son and rule over the kingdom.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: She rules over the kingdom and is the one who banished Princess Skw’ah In the first place, but she only shows up for two scenes and does not do anything aside from that. Lord Swey, a noble who plots to usurp her, is the Big Bad.
  • Jerkass: She acts mean to everyone but Ruhl’ks, and seems more concerned with consolidating her power as Queen than mourning the death of her husband. She also threatens to kill Princess Skw’ah to get her out of the way, only being stopped by Ruhl’ks sending her to a convent instead.
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: Lets out an “Oh oh oh!” when relishing the thought of sending Princess Skw’ah to a convent where she will be all alone.

    Crown Prince Ruhl'ks (spoilers)
The heir to the throne.
  • A Child Shall Lead Them: He is a boy when he becomes in line for the throne, due to his father’s passing. He uses his youth to intentionally make himself look like a Puppet King and the Queen the real power, but tosses the charade in the end and officially becomes king.
  • Apparently Powerless Puppetmaster: He makes himself look like a naive Puppet King easily manipulated by his mother the Queen. In truth, he knows full well that she sees him as a pawn and is using her for his own ends, and banished Princess Skw’ah to use her as bait for his rivals as part of a plan to destroy them.
  • Big Good: He is the main benevolent force trying to ensure Flora and Skw’ah succeed in their mission to defeat Lord Swey.
  • The Chessmaster: He banished Skw’ah to use her as bait, drawing out his enemies so he could eliminate them.
  • Child Prodigy: A young boy and not only a prince, but The Chessmaster as well.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: He pretends to be an innocent boy who is easily manipulated by the Queen in order to implement his own plans without her noticing.
  • Puppet King: Subverted. He intentionally makes himself look like one, a boy who does not know how to rule and needs his mother, the Queen, to teach him, making her the real power. But he is Obfuscating Stupidity so he can carry out his own plans to defeat his rivals and really is the one running the show, something he makes clear when he orders his guards to take the Queen away, which they obey.
  • Walking Spoiler: His true role as the mastermind behind much of the plot contrasts heavily with his initial impression as a Puppet King and is not revealed until the end.

    Wohdo
A bandit who leads a gang of bandits in trying to kidnap Princess Skw’ah. He disguised himself as a knight who serves Marquis Miph.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He initially behaves kind and gentlemanly to Flora, and says he is there to rescue Skw'ah from the convent. Then Flora tells him that the princess rejected his offer, and he promptly reveals that he is actually a bandit who killed the real Th’na and is leading a group of bandits to kidnap Skw’ah.
  • Kill and Replace: He killed the real Th’na and took his outfit, pretending to be him so he could trick Flora into giving him access to Princess Skw’ah, who he intends to kidnap.
  • Starter Villain: He and Guzho are the first villains that Flora fights, and are battled before the Big Bad Swey makes his appearance.
  • Straw Nihilist: He is not particularly concerned with the afterlife or going to hell- he just does what he likes.
We’re still alive! Why bother with what comes after? Living is more important!

    Guzho
Wohdo’s brother who leads the bandits alongside him.

    Marquis Miph/Mifh
A marquis who wants to protect Princess Skw’ah.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He initially seems to be a nice man who wants to protect Princess Skw’ah from Prince Ruhl’ks and Lord Swey. In truth, he wants to marry her himself and become king.
  • Dirty Old Man: Turns out he wanted Princess Skw’ah for himself.
  • Eye Scream: Gets his right eye run through by Swey’s sword.
  • Tears of Joy: Cries when thanking Flora for bringing Skw’ah to him safe and sound.

  • Big Damn Heroes: Saves Yajenka from Ph’dy’s torture by killing him and the Captain.
