* FriendToAllChildren: As revealed in her New Scaremester diary, Twyla is shown to be this as fond of eating the nightmares of children, especially those who are orphaned or in vulerable situations, since it helps makes their situations better.

* NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent: She is from Japan but has an American accent.

* YouDirtyRat: Averted. Now she gets annoyed when people stereotype her family as plague animals or disreputable, but she used to be ashamed of it.
* NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent: Despite being Russian, but she was born in America so....

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: In ''Haunted'': she's introduced boarding River's yacht with her skeleton crew in tow while cackling maniacally, then kindly asking River to sign for her pirating class, [[ButForMeItWasTuesday revealing that the spectacle was just a homework assignment]].

* CoolLoser: She considers herself a misfit, but is perfectly fine with it. And although she's generally more to herself than other monsters, she's also the mellower of them.

* UnusualEyebrows: Hers break up into even rectangles at the inner ends, which is reminiscent of the ''Film/BackToTheFuture'' logo.

* {{Troll}}: As a [[AcceptableTargets popstar]], she's besieged by them to the point where they're her personal pet peeve.

Daughter of the Boogeyman. Reserved and non-confrontational, she has the power to move through shadows (called shadow-jumping). Although now very skilled at it, her signature diary reveals that took a substantial amount of practice. She's introduced as Howleen's closest friend in Generation 1.

* BreakoutCharacter: Of any of the special-introduced characters, Twyla may have had the biggest impact. She had several G1 dolls after her debut and enjoyed narrative focus in multiple following webisodes and specials, and became the first character introduced by a G1 special to receive dolls in all three incarnations of the franchise. Her debut in G3 was also early, with her being one of the starting-assortment cast members alongside the Original Ghouls and bigger cast staples like Deuce and Toralei.

* CoolHouse: The family [[{{Bizarrchitecture}} Boogeymansion]]. A huge place with stairs that seem to go wherever they please, doors that act akin to in-house portals, multiple secret passageways, plus the huge room of tons of bottles of magical morphing sand. Basically, like a disorienting not-quite-nightmare in house form. If it weren't for Twyla with them, the ghouls would get lost every time they visit.

* DamselInDistress: In Electrified when Moanica locked her in a cell.
* DisabledInTheAdaptation: In the G3 reboot, Twyla is confirmed to be autistic and hypersensitive to noise, wearing noise canceling headphones made of cobwebs to help soothe her discomfort.

* GlowingEyes: All the better to '''[[CreepyCute watch you sleep with]]'''. This also applies to all of her physical dolls before Freak du Chic--her sclerae had glow-in-the-dark paint which was not advertised on the box, serving as a spooky surprise feature.

* LampshadeHanging: Does this occasionally, such as telling Spectra in ''Haunted'' that they've already been told they're not supposed to be on River's yacht.

* MeaningfulName: "Twyla" is a real name which both sounds like and means "twilight", the beginning of the night. Since kids usually have early bedtimes, this is when she'd be active in the normie world.

* ThingsThatGoBumpInTheNight: Comes with being the daughter of the Boogeyman. Each of her dolls has different variations on the "nightmare monster" and "creepy bedroom" motif, though each features bugs or spider webs in some way.

** Twyla's Coffin Bean release has a spiderweb dreamcatcher-patterned outfit, and also resembles pajamas.

* ElegantGothicLolita: All outfits sport flairs of lolita style, like bows, ribbons, and lace. She also carries herself with great elegance.

* PutMeInCoach: In "Graveball Gates", Neighthan is sidelined to healing team injuries because of his clumsiness. However, when Manny goes down, Neightan is sent out to heal him, and accidentally ends up scoring the winning touchdown. Clawd then asks him to join the team.

The antagonist of ''Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love'', he was Draculaura's boyfriend (for a week) before her family had to flee their old home about 500 years prior to her attending Monster High. An emotional vampire, he's ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin (a vampire who subsists off of emotions, not blood). To this end, he'd use his charms and looks to steal love from many ghouls, until he lost his powers attempting to steal Draculaura's heart after his first attempt centuries before was cut short. He regains them later from working in an animal shelter (that's heavily implied to be magical) and learns that stolen emotion cannot sustain any emotional vampire. He was released as a San Diego Comic Con exclusive doll alongside Djinni Grant in summer 2015.

* TheCasanova: Has broken dozens of girl's hearts.

* WaxOnWaxOff: A goblin lady sets him to working in an unwanted monster animal shelter, after being fraught with stench for a very long time leaves him with not much company and not much to do. Duties include caring for the animals (which include [[ManiacMonkeys flying monkeys]]) and cleaning their cages, and anticipating [[DungFu what they tend to throw]]. It turns out his dedication to his work pays off and earns the love of the animals which allows his powers to return, getting rid of the stench. His experience also leaves him with a pathological fear of the aforementioned airborne primates.

* {{Foil}}: To Abbey. C.A. encourages people who follow her radio show to flirt and laugh at the other person's jokes even if they aren't funny, while blunt, outspoken Abbey says they should just be brutally honest. On a more direct level, the two are also seriously divided between winter or spring for the best season of the year.

* LampshadeHanging: She just sort of shows up out of nowhere as a radio host, but her diary reveals that that was exactly the intention- she had been attending MH invisibly for a while while Bloodgood sought to find a plausible way to introduce her to the monster population.

* OverlyLongName: Alludes to this being the reason that she goes by C.A.: "I use my initials because my name is scary long, hideously unpronouncable and you know you're just going to call me 'Cupid' anyway."

* SymbolMotifClothing: Hearts, as seen on her dress, hairstyle, make-up, and shoes, and archery equipment, included in her bow-and-arrow earrings, quiver bracelet, bow-and-arrow ring, and bow-shaped heels.

* GeniusBruiser: A big dude who can rip an intercom out of a wall, but very eloquent and able to build a very complicated home out of a [[BambooTechnology wrecked boat and rudimentary jungle stuff]]. Also able to build near lifelike statues.

* ToylessToylineCharacter: Fandom posterboy for this trope.

* BadBoss: To Kipling, a young monster he keeps as his assistant. Farnum berates him on his "horrible" appearance (that is, he looks perfectly fine except for his [[UnusualEars big ears]]) and forces him to wear a BrownBagMask. The ghouls teach Kipling not to take that treatment any more, and at the end [[MistreatmentInducedBetrayal he finally gets back at Farnum]].

* FauxAffablyEvil: As a showman, he uses a facade of congeniality to get what he wants-- but if his plans are failing or he's getting challenged he quickly becomes aggressive.

* LaserGuidedKarma: Throughout the movie he prides himself on his humanity but at the end when he makes ready to give Andy to a freakshow, his beleaguered monster assistant Kipling flings him over a ledge into tar after he's fallen through a passing fleet of birds-- effectively [[TarAndFeathers tarring and feathering him]]. He's then carted off by the employees of the freakshow, who mistake ''him'' for a freak.

* BitchInSheepsClothing: Subverted. He ''thought'' he was hiding his readiness to cheat to beat other schools from Toralei, which surprised her because not only did she know, it's one of the reasons she's dating him!

* StrawMisogynist: A light case that only applies to SKRM, but definitely in play. Of note is his reaction when his longtime teammate turns out to be a girl (Rochelle) and leaves the team in anger over their behavior. He's only embarrassed over having played with a girl on the team. He does eventually see the error of his ways.

* LiteralGenie: It's not of her own volition though, that's just how genie powers work. Tries her hardest to warn people of this before they start wishing, because when they start she can't help them. She once got her mouth ''forcefully shut'' until her servitude was up after trying to warn a finder.

* OurGeniesAreDifferent: Has some scorpion-like biology. Also, she offers thirteen wishes instead of three--which is actually an attest to her experience. We learn from Djinni's diary that, in the MH universe, genies ''start'' as only being able to grant three wishes.

* RedOniBlueOni: Much like Jackson and Holt, she serves as the blue to to Whisp's red. Gigi is more calm and timid, and Whisp, even after her redemption, is more active and a bit snarky, too. While this is a reversal of their hair colors, their eyes correspond to the idea.

Gigi's LivingShadow, created by [[Characters/EverAfterHigh Giles Grimm]]. Was officially released as a San Diego Comic Con exclusive doll alongside Kieran Valentine in summer 2015.

* FogFeet: This is what she has in her shadow form. When the eclipse and Howleen's wicked wishes turn her solid, she gains legs. Her SDCC doll has a unique system that allows you to choose between the two, with a pair of legs and a shadowy tail that connect to her torso.
* TheGloriousWarOfSisterlyRivalry: A world-domination variant. Whisp's jealousy of Gigi's success led her to go out and corrupt Gigi's finders, and use them to abuse Gigi's wishes to give herself more power and eventually take over the world with the aid of an eclipse.

* OrangeBlueContrast: In her brief makeover as a lamp genie, Whisp gets blue accents where Gigi has orange/gold.

* BigCreepyCrawlies: A pattern that show up in some of her outfits, likely to represent dust mites.

* IJustWantToBeNormal: While she doesn't hate her position, she never forgets that underneath her talent and fame she is a normal ghoul and prefers to be treated as such when she attends Monster High. That's an endeavour with varying amounts of success.

* VerbalTic: She tends to make a squeaking/hiccuping sound while she speaks.

* TheBigGuy: Of Crescent Moon High, but he remains the most muscular werewolf at Monster High and overall one of biggest students. Only Manny and Finnegan are in his league.

* TheQuietOne: Actually has some things to say when he first shows up but the moment Romulus appears on screen he never talks again.

* ToylessToylineCharacter: The vampire couple have gotten as far as trademarked names, but neither Dee O'Gee nor Romulus ever had a hint of being considered for a doll.

* AlphaBitch: During ''Fright On'', she unsuccessfully attempts to secure a place at the top of the Monster High food chain. And in ''13 Wishes'' and ''Frights, Camera, Action'', even after the whole vamps vs. lycans spat is resolved, she still picks on Howleen and Draculaura.

* VillainDecay: Used to be a hellish AlphaBitch, now she's a bit nicer. Emphasis on "a bit".

An ex monster-hunter touting himself as a monster-humans relations expert, he comes to MH claiming to help the school with its monster-gration. However, he's actually planning to turn the werewolves and vampires against each other, ensuring that monsters will face an even larger divide.

* PutOnABus: Destination: Ever After.

* HasTwoMommies: This also comes with being a hydra-- many heads on one body, all with their own conscience. They refer to their collective parents as the "[[{{Pun}} heads of the family]]", but it's not said how many mothers and fathers they really have.
