Cinephoto Club

    In General
  • Club Stub: The Cinephoto Club is a fusion of both the Cinema and Photography Clubs who were both on the verge of closure after members of both of them left when they graduated.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: As Mono is set in the same universe as Laid-Back Camp, the Cinephoto Club serve as this to the Outdoor Activities Club, who are both established school clubs of their own school.
    • The main difference is that the Outdoor Activities Club who is a well-established club for years, while the Cinephoto Club is a much more obscure club formed between the merging of two failing clubs into one whose members from both have graduated.
    • They are both similar in a way, however, being school club remnants with very few members to boot, where its members are mutually close to each other and also both travel across Japan. The difference, however, is their core club duties. The Outdoor Activities Club focuses on camping-related activities, while the Cinephoto Club focuses on scenic photography.
  • The Remnant: The club itself is a remnant of two clubs that were about to be closed due to the declining membership. It was thanks to Sakurako's intervention that both clubs avoided the closure, albeit now a merged one.

    Satsuki Amamiya
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/satsuki_amamiya.png
A girl who is listless in her goal after her senpai graduated, leaving the once-booming popular Photography Club a shell of its former self and so as her. That is until her life changed utterly when she and her best friend An encountered Haruno, a mangaka.
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Downplayed. While she's a dark-haired girl who is often calm, she is not aloof and distant towards others.
  • Camera Fiend: She owns a vita camera and likes to take pictures of it, particularly pictures of tourist destinations across Japan when she travels with the rest of her group.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Satsuki is the reverse to Laid-Back Camp's Nadeshiko Kagamihara in many ways.
    • Personality-wise, Nadeshiko is a Genki Girl who is extremely cheerful, energetic and sometimes a ditzy girl. Satsuki is an Aloof Dark-Haired Girl who is calm and nonchalant but is not as extremely cheerful as Nadeshiko.
    • Appearance-wise, Nadeshiko has brighter-coloured features including a long pink hair and light blue eyes, while Satsuki has darker-coloured features including a short black hair and dark blue eyes.
    • In terms of their life goals, Nadeshiko already has a set goal from the start as a camper who joined with Rin and a few other members of the Outdoor Activities Club including Chiaki, Ena and Aoi. Satsuki, on the other hand, joined the former Photography Club with her friend An, out of the former's misguided admiration for her former senpai Sakihara, which resulted in her becoming a shadow of her former self after she graduated, leaving her completely off-tracked until she met Haruno.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: She sees Sakihara as her main inspiration behind her joining the Photography Club, since she taught her photography throughout her school year. But her senpai's graduation changed everything when she is just a shadow of her former self, causing her to become listless in her own goal. That is until she encounters Haruno.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: She is the blue to An's red, being calm and quiet, despite showing some moments of happiness.

    An Kiriyama
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/an_kiriyama.png
Satsuki's best friend and a member of the Photography Club, which is now known as Cinephoto Club. She serves as the opposite to Satsuki.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: The exact opposite to Laid-Back Camp's Rin Shima in some ways.
    • Rin is a quiet, reserved girl who is introverted on the outside who is socially inept. An is the exact opposite to Rin, being cheerful, friendly and extroverted yet a ditz who is extremely sociable.
    • Rin is an avid camper who likes camping trips with the rest of her group and is born from a family of campers. An is an average high school student who is listless in her own future, having only joined the former Photography Club out of sheer fondness for her best friend Satsuki before she subsequently joins Haruno.
    • Rin has a blue hair and purple eyes, while An has black hair and orange eyes.
  • Genki Girl: She's an energetic and often cheerful girl across her own group.
  • Girlish Pigtails: An ties her hair with a ponytail to the right side.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: She's the red to Satsuki's blue, being hyperactive, ditzy and cheerful.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Hinerage, aka Japanese rice crackers. And at one chapter she became extremely annoyed when both Satsuki and Haruno saw An buying several packages of them within Haruno's family shop.
Haruno: There it is! The hinerage ghost!
    Satsuki: Hinerage!!
An: Shut up!! This hinerage is all mine!!

    Sakurako Shikishima
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sakurako_shikishima.png
The president of the crumbling Cinema Club after many of its members graduated, leaving her and Tajima (who is an absentee) being its members. After the merging of both clubs, she becomes the new president of the Cinephoto Club.

    Tajima
The absentee member of Cinephoto Club who only showed up twice. Despite that, her unseen existence as one allowed the said club to stay afloat thanks to having the minimum of four members.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: She's a character who has no physical appearance in the story, but she indirectly plays a role in the creation of the Cinephoto Club thanks to her being the other, yet absentee fourth member.
  • The Ghost: Barely makes an appearance at all, being only mentioned by Sakurako. Worth mentioning how she only appeared at the club twice, even though if it's not for her the club would not exist whatsoever.

Others

    Haruno Akiyama
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/haruno_akiyama.png
A Mangaka and the granddaughter of a confectioner who plans to create a Slice of Life manga with the protagonist as a high school student in a Photography Club. But she's a complete ditz who is extremely clueless in some ways.
  • The Ditz: Her signature trait. She's extremely clueless and forgetful, having forgotten about delivering Satsuki's camera when the latter ordered it, as she was sick with flu and had a deadline.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Invoked at one point in Chapter 3 where she cluelessly drove Satsuki to the science museum by driving to the wrong side of the road, as well as parking at a house that is not hers.
  • Ridiculous Procrastinator: A habit of hers, where she puts things off to the last minute for the strangest reasons. At one case in Chapter 1 she procrastinated about a particular deadline from her work, while also forgetting to deliver Satsuki's camera, putting an excuse about her being on bed due to "flu". Taken to ridiculous levels in Chapter 18 when she forgot the deadline to submit her own draft to her editor, where said editor turns out to be on a vacation to another country for a few days, and she declares that she has to eat curry or she can't finish it. Yet as shown at the end of the chapter, she decides to procrastinate again by declaring about finding another curry shop in favour of putting away her own draft from her manga, much to An's dismay.
  • Sequential Artist: Haruno is a mangaka who has been making a four-panel manga featuring female high school students as protagonists, using real-life locations they visit as well as Satsuki and An as inspirations.
