  • Deadpan Snarker: They don't broker nonsense from anyone.
Player: Even for Jarlaxle, a deal is a deal.
  • The Dreaded: Lolth gives warning to one of her priestesses of the player characters. The divinations to reveal them is how the players are created.

Non-playable character

The player may take along with them two characters from around the world to help them rescue their fellow villagers.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Borenorak is rather nuts due to mentally being enslaved.
  • Cloud Cuckoolander:
    • Azarell's a bit nutty, given the theatrical way she talks She's not elven, she's a yochlol.
    • Borenorak is ranting about his master. he is mentally enslaved by an aboleth. However, killing the creature will free him from its hold.
  • Magic Knight: Azarell the young warrior elf has the ability to heal wounds. This is a hint that she is no true elf, but a yochlol, as that is a standard ability of such creatures.
  • Master of None: Baldassar has a low Constitution. As such, as a fighter, he will gain much less HP than his class would indicate.
  • Not in This for Your Revolution: Mealdithar will happily take out drow in the area because they threaten his family, but he has no interest in descending the Underdark and he will leave before that happens.
  • It's Personal: Manahath wants revenge on House Do'Urden because they didn't pay him an honest wage for his labors.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Mealdithar starts with centaur armor, but his sprite depicts him bare-chested.
  • Wise Beyond Her Years: Azarell talks in a mature, off-putting fashion, treating the players more like the children they view her to be.
