Go To

Justin and Marissa Clarke

The main protagonists. They travel with their father to Brovania, a country deep in the forests of Europe. They are looking for the Lost Legend.

  • Big Brother Instinct: Even though Marissa can get on his nerves sometimes, he rescues her from time to time on their quest.
  • Covered in Gunge: The two are almost eaten by a pair of giant cats in the forest. They manage to escape, but not before being swapped whole and covered in cat saliva.
  • Eek, a Mouse!!: During their quest, they come across a swarm of mice that crawl all over them. They quickly discover that they are actual "mechanical" mice that can be clicked on and off. Later becomes a Chekhov's Gun, as Justin keeps one as a souvenir, and he uses them to distract two giant cats that are about to eat him and Marissa.
  • Fiery Redhead: Marissa has red hair, and is shown to have a no-nonsense behavior to Justin's wild imagination and antics.
  • Fish out of Water: Unlike their father, they aren't quite so adapted in Brovania. The two are pretty bad at keeping up at a trail, and they even have trouble collecting firewood. This is despite the fact that they are in a large forest, as their father lampshades exasperatedly.
  • Foil: They are this to Billy and Sheena Deep. Like them, they both include the older brother having a wild imagination and being more reckless with the younger sister being more serious and straightforward. However, the Deep siblings are shown to be quite adapted to their aquatic environment, but the Clarke siblings are at first pretty hopeless in the wilderness.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: Marissa has these, which reflect her innocent nature of being around the crazy inhabitants.
  • The Klutz: Justin has a tendency to trip easily. He also early on knocked over their gas lantern, nearly setting his family tent on fire.
  • Mr. Imagination: Justin is definitely this. He tends to let his fantasies get the better of him, and make him grow paranoid at times.
  • Reverse Psychology: This is what Justin uses often to get Marissa to go along with his schemes, which he does to convince her to look for the Lost Legend. She always disagrees with him, so saying "Let's not do something" always gets her to agree to do it.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Justin can be pretty foolish at times. When first meeting Silverdog, a mysterious white dog that just shows up, he immediately starts to pet him even though he could bite him for doing so. And when he notices the former owners of the Lost Legend just give it to them without hesitation and quickly leave, which was a major red flag, he is more excited over getting the treasure and decides to open it.
  • Trauma Conga Line: During their Secret Test of Character mission, they wind up lost in their trail, nearly drown, swarmed by a horde of mechanical mice, and they are nearly eaten alive by a pair of gigantic cats. And even though what they get turns out to not only be the wrong treasure they were looking for, when they get to the real deal, they wind up becoming lost for real.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: This is why they go out to search for the Lost Legend themselves. Their father was agitated at them for being useless on their journey, so the two decided to make up for it by finding the treasure themselves to make him proud.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Probably the most cruel example in the original series. Unlike most cases, where the protagonists at least have a chance to make it out, there is no escape for these two. They reunite with their father and open the chest that they received as a reward, only to find out it's not what they were looking for. So they look again for the Lost Legend, and they gain it for real. But when they open the chest and read the document inside, it tells them that whomever owns the Lost Legend will be lost forever. They then look up, and realize that their forest surroundings have completely changed and they are now lost. It's a short passage, but it clearly indicates that their situation is now hopeless.

Ivanna

A mysterious local of Brovania. She helps Justin and Marissa, find the Lost Legend in the form of a quest. She actually turns out to be a machine made by Luka, her "pet".

  • Actually a Doombot: Is really just a very lifelike machine made by Luka.
  • Amazonian Beauty: Is a tall and mighty viking with gorgeous features.
  • Anachronism Stew: Is stated to be a Viking abandoned in time long ago, but like most misconceptions about Vikings, they did not wear horned helmets. This could be Foreshadowing that she is not a real Viking, or an actual human for that matter.
  • As Long as It Sounds Foreign: Her name is Ivanna, a Russian name. Yet, Brovania is implied to be a country near Scandinavia.
  • Friend to All Children: Judging by the way she greets and behaves with Justin and Marissa, she apparently is fond of children and wants to relate to them.
  • Norse by Norsewest: Is a Viking who happens to exhibit many Scandinavian stereotypical traits. She is blonde, an Amazonian Beauty, and acts very haughty with a kidding attitude.
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: She is a lifelike robot who looks and acts so much like a human to the point that Justin and Marissa are completely shocked when they find out.
  • Womanchild: When Justin and Marissa come to her for shelter, she plays pranks on them, much to their chagrin.
