* TranslatorBuddy: She can use her thought-copying ability to translate what the Hemkas and other [[TheUnintelligible unintelligle]] characters are saying.

* DramaticallyMissingthePoint: She believes her inability to grow Treasure Trees is due to Little Dreamer giving her defective treasures, while giving the working treasures to Hanazuki because she's his "favorite". The bitterness and resentment towards Hanazuki is what keeps her from realizing that there's nothing wrong with the treasures, the problem is that she's too stubborn and emotionally guarded to properly tap into her emotional powers to activate the treasures.

* PeekABangs: His hair covers his right eye.

* DoesNotLikeShoes: Miyumi is the only Moonflower to wear proper shoes. Hanazuki and Maroshi go barefoot, Kiyoshi wears Roman sandals, and Kiazuki wears ''Franchise/{{Naruto}}''-style open-toed boots.

* DoesNotWearShoes: She walks about barefooted.

* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: Compared to the outgoing Hanazuki and abrasive Kiazuki, there's the quiet, reserved Kiyoshi and the extremely mellow Maroshi.

* LonersAreFreaks: His friend Sleepy Unicorn certainly thinks it creepy that he took up living in isolation within a grove of black Treasure Trees. It takes him time to adjust to Hanazuki's more vibrant moon, preferring to hang around the sole black tree there (which is a reminder of his past).

* ShrinkingViolet: Hanazuki had to chase him through his Black Treasure Tree forest when he debuted. He later averts it, though.

* TheDitz: Compared to his "Blue Oni" Kiyoshi, this guy is not exactly the brightest Moonflower around. For example, when Kiazuki tells him that Treasure Trees need to be in the ground to work, we're treated to a shot of [[VisualPun a puff of air blowing straight through one of Maroshi's ears and out the other]].

* BareYourMidriff: Hanazuki and Kiyoshi.

* GrumpyBear: The most foul-tempered creature on an idyllic moon of perfectly pleasant characters.

* GrumpyBear: She's a dark and bitter individual in a galaxy that's home to talking mountains and gumdrop bunnies, and is constantly irritated by Hanazuki's [[GenkiGirl cheeriness]] and overall [[NoSenseOfPersonalSpace blindness to personal space]].

* CharacterDevelopment: Most of the Moonflowers introduced manage to work through their major character flaws by the season's end: [[NaiveNewcomer Hanazuki]] becomes [[TookALevelInCynic less naive and more responsible]]; [[TheCynic Kiazuki]] becomes [[TookALevelInKindness kinder and more willing to accept help]]; and [[TheEeyore Kiyoshi]] becomes [[TookALevelInCheerfulness more optimistic and self-confident]]. The only Moonflower who [[StaticCharacter goes through no change]] is [[SurferDude Maroshi]], on account of him being introduced so late in the season.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: He stands out among the Moonflowers by having bright blue hair as opposed to black or dark colors.

* EldritchAbomination: As Kiazuki describes it in the first episode's narration, nobody knows what it is, where it came from, or what it wants. It simply comes to whatever moons it finds and [[WalkingWasteland reduces them to colorless wastelands]] [[EarthShatteringKaboom or worse]], [[NoBodyLeftBehind leaving no bodies]].

* MultiColoredHair: Each Moonflower has white highlights in their hair that change color depending on their mood.

* DoesNotLikeShoes: None of the Moonflowers wear proper shoes. Hanazuki and Maroshi go barefoot, Kiyoshi wears Roman sandals, and Kiazuki wears ''Franchise/{{Naruto}}''-style open-toed boots.

* ColourCodedEmotions: Moonflowers have white colors on their bodies and clothes that change to match a different emotion or mood: red for feistiness, orange for wackiness, yellow for happiness, lime green for fear, dark green for mellowness, teal for glamor, blue for sadness, lavender for inspiration, purple for bravery, pink for love,emerald for jealousy, raspberry for hope, and black for despair.

* NotSoAboveItAll: During the rare instances where she is in a joyful mood, especially where she feels she's making headway at growing trees, she becomes quite quirky and excitable [[NotSoDifferent just like Hanazuki]].

* AllLovingHeroine: Downplayed. Hanazuki loves everyone and everything she sees with gusto, to the point where the mere thought of disliking someone is a foreign concept to her. On the other hand, her patience has its limits and she will give up on anyone who pushes her too far.

The Moonflower of Sleepy Unicorn's old moon, deposed by the evil Twisted Unicorn. He only knows how to grow black Treasure Trees, stemming from his complete lack of self-esteem (which cost him his position when the Twisted Unicorn took matters into his own hands), and turns to Hanazuki for guidance to restore peace to his moon.

* TheDogBitesBack: After being overthrown, exiled, and hunted by Twisted Unicorn, Kiyoshi succeeds in humiliating him by making him reveal his deepest insecurities through forced exposure to pink treasure juice in "The Resistance", resulting in a big confidence boost for himself.
* DoomMagnet: Accuses himself of being one in "Better Together" when Twisted follows him to Hanazuki's moon with the intention of taking it over.

* TheEeyore: He frequently sees the worst in every situation before the good, and puts himself down the moment something goes wrong.

* ItsAllAboutMe: She believes blindly that she and her moon are so great that she does not realize the problems that are around her.

* AllYourColorsCombined: When all ten Hemkas merge together at once, they form a giant Rainbow Hemka, which is so huge that it is proportionally larger than Hanazuki than she to a single Hemka.

* ThemeNaming: Each unicorn's name is a mash between the word "unicorn" and whatever color they are (Redicorn, Orangecorn, Yellowcorn, etc.).

* TheResenter: Part of her motivation to act against Hanazuki is her burning hatred of her apparent role as "Little Dreamer's favorite", since for every "defective" treasure Little Dreamer gives her, Hanazuki grows five proper trees with her own. This kicks off her VillainousBreakdown in the first season finale, where Kiazuki finally manages to beat the Big Bad back, only for Little Dreamer to reward ''Hanazuki'' with another treasure, which spurs Kiazuki to uproot all of Hanazuki's trees and summon the Big Bad for seemingly no reason other than pure spite.

* EyesAlwaysClosed: Naturally, since he's always asleep. Hanazuki [[LampshadeHanging questions how he can even see where he's going]] in "Seeing Red", while a POV shot in the same episode shows he can actually see normally.

* TalkingInYourSleep: Most of his speech is inarticulate mumbling and snoring. His only articulate speech is in the first episode, and apart from the single clear word of instruction he gives Hanazuki at the end, most of it makes no sense.

** Later, in "Recovery", Kiyoshi finds out Kiazuki stopped working on the Garlandians because her moon was destroyed, and thinks he should've been there to help her in the aftermath instead of getting wrapped up in his own problems.
* TheHermit: When we first see him, he's living all alone in a grove of black Treasure Trees.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: Kiyoshi's friendship with Hanazuki can be best described as this when Hanazuki considers him to be family. They also share the warmest interactions between each other compared to the other Moonflowers.

A Moonflower from an oceanic moon that suddenly froze over and shattered, though with enough warning that he and his companions, the Flochis, could evacuate to Hanazuki's moon. When trouble arises, he prefers to go with the flow and ride his problems out.

* AmbiguouslyBrown: He sports tan skin, but given the coloration of his fellow Moonflowers, it's hard to tell if it's the result of sunbathing or if he was born that way.

* TheDitz: He's not exactly the brightest Moonflower around. For example, when Kiazuki tells him that Treasure Trees need to be in the ground to work, we're treated to a shot of [[VisualPun a puff of air blowing straight through one ear and out the other]].
* DoIReallySoundLikeThat: He's taken aback quite a bit when Hanazuki starts mimicking his TotallyRadical speech mannerisms, having never heard himself speak before. However, he quickly decides that he likes it.

* ThePollyanna: Despite acknowledging that losing his moon was a "major bummer", he isn't the least bit phased by it. He even maintains his upbeat attitude in the middle of another apocalypse.

* TheDitz: As it looks is not so smart.

* AllLovingHero: He loves pretty much everyone he sees, including the otherwise universally reviled [[ZeroPercentApprovalRating Basil Ganglia]]. When he claims to [[ThisIsUnforgivable never forgive Depriva for trying to keep him trapped]], she immediately sweet-talks him into changing his mind.

* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: Even if he could find someone to enact his evil plots, everyone who knows him hates him too much to put up with him. About the only person who even remotely likes him is Doughy Bunington, who doesn't believe anyone could possibly be as mean as he is.
