Nana
- Adult Hater:
- When she was younger, Nana was adamant about staying a child forever.
- She demonstrates hatred for the race of humans known as adults, especially in her short diary entries featured in the art book.
- Bookworm: She has a lot of general knowledge about the world because she likes to read books.
- Early Installment Character-Design Difference: Harumaki Gohan changed the way he drew Nana’s hair after the release of “If I Could Become a Comet”, with her hair becoming noticeably rounder, to the point of becoming almost completely circular.
- Expressive Shirt: Her shirt has the Japanese character 七 (“nana,” seven) on it. The amount of characters present on the shirt corresponds to her age.
- Hairstyle Inertia: Even when she's older, Nana still wears the same Girlish Pigtails she wore as a child.
- Inconsistent Coloring: Her eyes are always described as pink in official text, but in the music videos she is always depicted with either blue or purple eyes, with pink highlights sometimes. The picture of her to the right may be the only official drawing of her with pink eyes.
- Limited Wardrobe: She is usually depicted wearing the same outfit: a blue turtleneck and a darker blue skirt. No matter how much she ages, she still wears this outfit. She’s even wearing it under her cloak in Secret. The only music video where she’s shown wearing something else is “If I Could Become a Comet.”
- Older Than They Look: By the end of the series, she is 21 years old, but she doesn't look much different than she did at age 7.
Lili
- Child Prodigy: She is described as a prodigy that can do anything, in comparison with Nana who is hardworking but still can’t do many things.
- Damsel in Distress: She assumes a passive role in "Secret," with Nana coming to save her from the Adults.
- Flat Character: From the release of “Reunion” up until the album came out, Lili didn’t have much of a personality. Her face is usually stuck having the same bored expression, and she barely reacts to her surroundings. Then the album released, and we discover that she’s like this because she represses her feelings.
- Hairstyle Inertia: Even when she's older, Lili still has the same lengthy hairstyle and wears the same hair bow as when she was a child.
- Jade-Colored Glasses: After being separated from Nana, and their attempts to reunite failing, Lili becomes jaded, as is apparent in her version of “Reunion.”
Macaron
- Cute Machines: Macaron is a loyal, friendly little robot who likes to go on walks. Also, his name is Macaron. Everything about that is cute.
- Nature Lover: Despite being a robot, he likes going outside, and seems to get sad if he can’t go out often.
- Robot Buddy: He's a small cleaning robot who provides some companionship to Nana, and tags along with her on a train ride to the beach in "If I Could Become a Comet".
