A 'Whisperer' - the one who the Whispered hear and receive their knowledge of Black Technology from.
- Mad Scientist's Beautiful Daughter: She was the daughter of Doctor Dmitri Barova nd used as a test subject for TAROS.
- Meaningful Name: Sophia is Greek for "wisdom" or "knowledge."
- Split Personality Take Over: When Leonard brings Kaname to the Omni-Sphere, a remnant of Sophia takes over her mind. Sophia then assists Leonard in creating TARTAROS in order to change the world.
- Spell My Name With An S: Sophia/Sofia. Her surname too is either Barova/Belov.
- Tragic Villain: She was just a normal girl, until she was accidentally killed in the TAROS experiment. It resulted in resulted in the creation of the Whispered and the destruction of Yamsk-11.

The head of Yamsk-11. He used his daughter Sophia to advanced Soviet research into TAROS.
- Abusive Parent: Well, using your daughter in the name of advanced research for the USSR doesn't give you much parenting awards.
- For Science!: Dimitri's reasons for using Sophia in his TAROS research work.
- Posthumous Character: He was long dead before FMP started.
- Small Role, Big Impact: His role in using TAROS ultimately resulted in Sophia's death and in the creation of the Whispered.
