This is a Character Sheet for the FatalFrame series.

[[folder:Dr. Kunihiko Asou]]
!!Dr. Kunihiko Asou
->Voiced by: [[spoiler:Creator/TatsuhisaSuzuki (Fatal Frame 5)]]

The key character of Fatal Frame series. He was a brilliant occult philosopher and scientist whose primary fields of interest were Japanese folklore and the spirit world. Dr. Asou took the latest Western technologies that were introduced to Japan and modified them in an attempt to create devices that could capture supernatural phenomena, such as the Camera Obscura.

* AscendedExtra: He has been mentioned a lot from the first four Fatal Frame games, and now he finally appears as the major character of the fifth game.
* LoveAtFirstSight: [[spoiler:with Ouse Kurosawa]]

[[folder:Introduced in Fatal Frame]]
!Fatal Frame

!!Miku Hinasaki
->Voiced by: Rika Wakusawa (Japanese), Rumiko Varnes (English, FF1), Creator/KimMaiGuest (English, FF3)

The protagonist of the first Fatal Frame who goes into the Himuro Mansion in order to look for her brother, Mafuyu. She finds the [[MacGuffin Camera Obscura]] where her brother left it, and then she must collect five pieces of a holy mirror in order to stop the ghost of Kirie gone berserker.

She returns in Fatal Frame III, again as a playable character and still [[spoiler:lamenting the death of her brother, Mafuyu.]] Such guilt haunts her dreams, and so she finds herself trapped in the Manor of Sleep, where she can't help but to follow the ghost of her loved one. In Fatal Frame V, she has a daughter named Miu, but suddenly went missing in the past, which caused to Miu to search for her.

* BareYourMidriff: On [=FF3=]
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Red/Crimson. Her name can be read as "deep crimson"[[spoiler:, and her holly tattoo from the Manor's curse is also red.]]
* CripplingOverspecialization: A mild example in [=FF3=]. Her Sacred Stone (which slows ghosts) and 'Double' function (stacking a charge on top of a full one) special abilities are extremely useful, but in exchange she doesn't have any special lenses.
* HairDecorations: Never seen without her grandmother's hairclip.
* TheMagicGoesAway: It was ''meant'' to happen at the end of the first game, [[TheMagicComesBack but it didn't]].
* MementoMacGuffin: She wears her grandmother's hair comb.
* MightyGlacier: Her camera in the third game is this; the 'Double' function gives her the the strongest exorcism power out of the three, but there's a longer wait time between shots.
* PluckyGirl
* SailorFuku: Her outfit in the first game is modeled after one.
* [[ShesAllGrownUp She's All Grown Up]]: Played With. Only two years have passed since the events of [=FF1=], but on [=FF3=] she's noticeably more {{Fanservice}}y.
* ZettaiRyouiki: On [=FF3=] she wears a Grade B.

!!Mafuyu Hinasaki
->Voiced by: Dominic Allen (English)

Miku's older brother and only family, and the first character you'll control. He goes to the Himuro Mansion after the disappearance of his teacher, equipped with the Camera Obscura.

* BigBrotherInstinct
* HeroicSpirit: He went to the Himuro Mansion not for a loved one, but just to rescue, or find out what happened to, his professor and his team.
* [[spoiler: IChooseToStay]]: [[spoiler: In the first game's canon ending, he chooses to remain behind with Kirie so she's never alone again rather than escape the mansion with Miku]].
* NiceGuy
* PromotionToParent

!! Kirie Himuro
->Voiced by: Leene Hardt (English)

A maiden who lived at the Himuro Mansion and was finally sacrificed at the Strangling Ritual. [[spoiler:However, the sacrificial failed, and so the [[TheCorruption Malice]] got unleashed.]]

* [[spoiler:BreakTheCutie: Her backstory combines this and KillTheCutie.]]
* FromNobodyToNightmare: From a sacrificial maiden to slaughtering the entire mansion.
* LiteralSplitPersonality: [[spoiler: The malice caused her soul to split into two people: A vengeful spirit and younger version of her.]]

* {{Miko}}: She's the Rope Shrine Maiden
* OneHitKill: What she inflicts if you let her touch you.
* StringyHairedGhostGirl
* VirginSacrifice
* WomanInWhite

!! Yae Munakata (née Kurosawa)

Miku and Mafuyu's great-grandmother. She lived in the Himuro mansion decades before the events of the game take place. She commits suicide due to her daughter's disappearance combined with overexposure from the Camera Obscura.

She is reintroduced in Fatal Frame II, where she is revealed to have had a twin sister, and was the unwitting instigator of several events in the game.

* DrivenToSuicide:
** [[spoiler: IronicEcho: She dies the same way her sister dies: hanging.]]
* IllGirl
* PosthumousCharacter: She's long dead by the events of Fatal Frame I and II.
* SoleSurvivor: She was the only living resident of Minakami village after the Repentance.
* SurvivorGuilt: Her reason for escaping the village with Sae was to avoid this. She gets this anyway due to Sae being captured and the village being destroyed.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Sure, there was the possibility of her and Sae's ritual also failing, but had she not run away then the Repentance would have been avoided.

[[folder: Introduced in Fatal Frame II]]
!Fatal Frame II

!!Mio Amakura
->Voiced by: Creator/AkemiKanda (Japanese), Creator/KariWahlgren (English, FF2)

The protagonist of Fatal Frame II and Mayu's younger twin. She has a weaker sixth sense, so she isn't as perceptive about the ghosts as Mayu, but this also makes her more resistant to their influence. Mio is very protective about her sister, feeling responsible for her leg wound years ago, and so she looks after her every single day.

Mio comes back in Fatal Frame III, but not as a playable character. [[spoiler:Still lamenting Mayu's death, she is afflicted by the Tattooed Curse, and her uncle Kei is trying to rescue her.]]

* [[spoiler:BalefulPolymorph: In the Deeper Crimson butterfly's Frozen Butterfly Ending, the crimson butterfly can be interpeted to be Mio after Mayu strangled her.]]
* TheCaretaker
* CutscenePowerToTheMax: Her speed in the trailers.
* [[spoiler: EyeScream: In the "Nightmare Ending", she finds out why you aren't supposed to look into [[HellGate the Hellish Abyss]] the hard way.]]
* [[spoiler:HandicappedBadass: In the good ending, she may have lost her sight, but she has proven that nothing will take her sister away from her.]]
* [[TheHero The Heroine]]: She gets to be this in the good endings of Fatal Frame II, [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming specially in the best one.]]
* HeroicBSOD: Upon realizing [[spoiler:she just killed her own sister.]]
* IdenticalTwinIDTag: Her hair is layered outward, with her fringe parted and swept to the side. Her clothing evokes a more active person in comparison to Mayu.
* MamaBear/[[KnightTemplarBigBrother Sister Bear:]] [[spoiler:Goes well under the judging of the All Gods Village, she's the older twin.]]
* SkirtOverSlacks
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:After strangling Mayu and completing the ritual, she realizes what she had done. She chases after Mayu in her butterfly form and apologizes.]]
* MySisterIsOffLimits: Subverted, but a specially rare case of a girl having this attitude.
* [[spoiler: {{Protectorate}}: It's implied that she becomes this for Mayu in the "Nightmare Ending". Mayu seems a little smug about it.]]
* [[spoiler:SuddenSequelDeathSyndrome]]: Possibly, during the worst ending of III.
* ThinkNothingOfIt: Her attitude towards Mayu, which seems to extent even after she [[spoiler:loses her sight for her.]]
* [[spoiler:TogetherInDeath: With Mayu in ''Deep Crimson Butterfly'', if you got the "Shadow Festival" ending.]]
* TraumaCongaLine: Type C. First, she's left feeling guilty for Mayu's childhood injury, then spirited away to a nightmarish village where she's forced to kill her sister to leave, then she's forced to revisit the trauma all over again in her dreams.

!!Mayu Amakura
->Voiced by: Creator/AyakoKawasumi (Japanese), Creator/KimMaiGuest (English, FF2)

Mio's older, calm, reserved and considerate twin. She's got a very strong sixth sense, which makes her vulnerable to the influence of ghosts. [[spoiler:This leads to get being possessed by Sae, causing quite a troublesome situation as the person Mio has to rescue is at the same time the person who could mean her immediate death.]]

* IdenticalTwinIDTag: Her hairstyle is layered close to her head, and her fringe is straight and covers more of her forehead. Her clothing also gives a more demure feel, compared to Mio's.
* [[spoiler:IfICantHaveYou: In ''Deep Crimson Butterfly'', she actually ''murders'' Mio when the latter refuses to perform the ritual in one ending.]]
** [[spoiler:MoreThanMindControl]]
* KubrickStare: If you pay very close attention to her when she passes the screen, she stares at the camera.
* TheLoad: That said, she makes for an excellent distraction for attacking ghosts.
* LaughingMad: [[spoiler: In ''Deep Crimson Butterfly's'' Frozen Butterfly ending. She must've been taking lessons from Sae.]]
* [[spoiler:ManipulativeBitch:]] In the Japanese Fanbook (as well as the novelization), it is revealed that [[spoiler: when they were children, Mayu fell down the cliff on purpose so Mio wouldn't leave her behind, and has been using her injury to control Mio ever since.]] During the [[spoiler: final battle against Sae, Mayu can be heard saying "Mio always thinks about me... and she will do whatever I say."]]
* MeaningfulName: Mayu means "cocoon" tying in with the butterfly theme.[[spoiler: She does indeed become one in the default ending.]]
* PleaseDontLeaveMe
* {{Protectorate}}
* [[spoiler: TogetherInDeath: See Mio's entry.]]
* VideogameCaringPotential
* [[spoiler: {{Yandere}}: Her relationship with Mio in general. She even kills Mio in one ending, just to keep her with her for good.]]
* YouAreWorthHell: For Mio, she clearly was.

!!Itsuki Tachibana
->Voiced by: Creator/SoichiroHoshi (Japanese), Sam Saletta (English)

A white-haired young boy that is mysteriously imprisoned. Mio encounters him while exploring the lost village, and he'll assist Mio in his attempt to rescue Mayu, although most of what he says will cause confusion to the player.

* [[spoiler:AngstySurvivingTwin: His failure to properly perform the ritual meant that his brother, Mutsuki, died for nothing. He killed himself to join his brother after he thought the Kurosawa Twins escaped.]]
* [[spoiler:DeadAllAlong]]
* [[spoiler:DrivenToSuicide: He hung himself]].
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: He's not the hero of the story, but ''still''...
* LockedIntoStrangeness
* MrExposition: Guess who you're gonna go for every time you need answers.
* SelectiveObliviousness: He won't cease referring to Mio as "Yae" and Mayu as "Sae".

!!Sae Kurosawa
->Voiced by: Creator/AyakoKawasumi (Japanese), Creator/KimMaiGuest (English, FF2)

A twin shrine maiden who particularly had been always anxious about participating in the sacrificial ritual so she would ''become one'' with her twin sister, Yae. [[spoiler:When Itsuki wanted to help Sae and Yae to escape the ritual, though, she apparently intentionally fell behind, hoping that Yae would return for her so they would fulfill the ritual. But Yae never came back, and so she was sentenced to do the ritual alone, which didn't go well.]]

* [[spoiler:AllLoveIsUnrequited: She was close to Itsuki, but because he's the older "Remaining" twin and she is the younger twin that will be sacrificed, they can't be together.]]
* AxCrazy: On par with Lord Himuro.
* BigBad: Of Fatal Frame II
** BigBadDuumvirate: With the Kusabi though she is the main antagonist and plays a more active role in the story.
* BreakTheCutie: As tradition.
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: Generates a red mist to protect against the Camera Obscura during the final battle with her, and come on, how many ghosts are smart enough to realize that the only weapon in the protagonist's arsenal is the Camera Obscura?
* DeathGlare: It's a blink-and-you'll-miss moment, but in the remake of the [[spoiler: Lingering Scent ending]], the look on her face as she strangles Mio is... quite unsettling.
** TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou: And the fact that she's looking ''directly at you'' doesn't help.
* DyingAlone: Hanged alone to try and complete the ritual without Yae.
* DualBoss: One mission has you fighting both her ''and'' the Kusabi.
* EvilBrit: Has a British accent in the remake.
* EvilLaugh: A particularly nightmarish one.
* FinalBoss: On harder difficulties only. Subverted in the Wii remake- she's the final boss for ALL difficulties if the Kusabi is beaten in under five minutes.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: The Sanguine among the four main antagonists.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: From a sacrificial maiden to slaughtering her entire village.
* GigglingVillain
* TheHyena
* IdenticalTwinIDTag: The small break in her bangs distinguishes her from Yae.
* LaughingMad: noticing a pattern yet?
* LightIsNotGood: The most vibrant colored out of the four main antagonists and the most psychotic.
* ManipulativeBitch: [[spoiler:Like Mayu, she fell ''on purpose'' to try and get her sister caught in order to force her into the ritual, without any consideration for her sister's feelings. Unlike Mayu, her plan backfired ''horribly''.]]
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Her ghost name, ''Bloody Kimono''
* OneHitKill: Notably the only final boss [[AvertedTrope without one]], though she makes up for it with her defenses and speed.
* PerpetualSmiler: ''*shudder*''
* PutTheLaughterInSlaughter: She's got a lot of laugh tropes, huh?
* SheWillComeForMe: Up until her death, this was her only thought.
* SlasherSmile: When she isn't laughing, this is her default expression.
* SmokeOut: Can generate a red mist around her during the final battle.
* [[spoiler:TogetherInDeath: With her twin, Yae, in the best ending.]]
* TurnsRed: Like most ghosts in the remake, she will enter Dark Return and glow with a purple aura when low on health, making her faster and more dangerous.
* [[WhiteShirtOfDeath White Kimono of Death]]
* WomanInWhite
* {{Yandere}}: She ''really'' loves her sister.

!!Seijiro Makabe (Kusabi)
->Voiced by: Creator/MichaelBell (English)

A folklorist who happened to have visited Minakami village at a bad time. He eventually gets sacrificed to the Hellish Abyss, and when the Repentance occurs, he comes back as the Kusabi.

* BadassBookworm
* CameBackWrong: No part in thanks to the torture he endured before his death, he bears the least resemblance to his former self when he becomes the Kusabi
* NotAfraidToDie: By the time he was to be sacrificed, he was actually genuinely happy to be experiencing something so secretive first-hand.
* OneHitKill: The Kusabi's touch is instant Game Over.

[[folder: Introduced in Fatal Frame III]]
!Fatal Frame III

!!Rei Kurosawa
->Voiced by: Creator/JunkoMinagawa (Japanese), Kimberly Brooks (English)

A professional photographer and protagonist of Fatal Frame III. She lived together with Miku and her boyfriend, Yuu, [[spoiler:until he died in a car accident caused by her. Because of this, she gets dragged into the Manor of Sleep, following his ghost.]]

* BeautyMark
* JackOfAllStats: Her Camera Obscura is able to equip most of the available lenses and functions, along with having a large capture circle and decent damage.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Blue, the image color of the game and her tattoos.
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: [[spoiler: With Kei's help and the Handmaiden's Song, she figures out how to truly end the curse: sail the quelled "tattoos" (Reika) and "their offering of tears" (Kaname) to the other side of the Abyss.]]
* [[spoiler: DeathSeeker: It's strongly hinted by the end of the game she became this, completely willing to be spirited away in order to be with Yuu.]]
* InformedAttribute: Rei claims she's the opposite of Yuu who was quiet and gentle, but this doesn't really show. Then again, she ''is'' severely depressed.
* ItsAllMyFault: [[spoiler:It is. It was her irresponsible driving that got her boyfriend killed, after all.]]
* [[spoiler:PleaseDontLeaveMe: When Yuu's spirit is crossing the Rift with other spirits, she begs to take her with him. He declines, telling her that he'll live on through her.]]
* PsychicLink: With Miku and Kei, allowing her to see their dreams of the manor within her own. [[spoiler: However, as seen with what happens to the two, she has no influence on their decisions.]]
* ShowerOfAngst
* SurvivorGuilt: More than anyone.

!!Kei Amakura
->Voiced by: Yusei Oda (Japanese), Creator/JoshKeaton (English)

Mio's uncle, a non-fiction writer. He was also good friends with Yuu, and writes letter to him during the game which Rei receives. These help her unravel the mystery of the Manor of Sleep. [[spoiler:The main reason he is investigating the manor is to save his niece Mio, who fell victim to the Tattoo Curse.]]

* BadassBookworm: Comes with being one of the series' folklorists who can actually fight off ghosts and not end up one of them. Even then, up until you play his chapters he had no Camera Obscura and had to hide often, hence his ability and special filament. Regardless of how weak his sixth sense is, the man's certainly something to have been sneaking around a haunted manor for so long (the extent of his tattoos show that he's been in the manor the longest out of the three).
** [[spoiler:In the good and [[WordOfGod apparently canon]] ending, he becomes the first male character to survive the game.]]
* CantCatchUp: In a somewhat different way than most examples. Being the only playable man in Fatal Frame III, he's stronger than the girls and so he can move heavy objects they can't. But his sixth sense is said to be weaker than theirs, which results in his attacks being overall inferior, and that's when he has a camera to begin with.
** GradualGrinder: His Camera Obscura though is best used to chip away at a spirit's health with rapid combos and bonuses, as he can't charge it to levels as high as Rei or Miku.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Indigo, if his clothing and tattoos are to go by.
* MrExposition: Subverted. His chapters are where you usually find the documents that explain the Kuze Family and their rituals, that which lead up to the existence of the Tattoo Curse and the Manor of Sleep.
* MeaningfulName: The character for his name means 'firefly', [[spoiler: referring to the light of hope he has for finding a way to end the curse. However, fireflies are also known for their brief lifespans.]]
* ParentalSubstitute: He's apparently this for Mio and Mayu.
* HopeSpot: [[spoiler:He delivers this for Rei near the end.]]
* [[spoiler:IdenticalStranger: To Akito Kashiwagi, Kyouka Kuze's missing lover. As the ghost Brushing Woman, she is not happy to see him.]]
* [[spoiler:PocketProtector: If you obtain Kyouka's Echo Stone Earring on a second playthrough or later, Reika will spare him at the end of Hour XII.]]
* TalkingInYourSleep: [[spoiler:He does this when he's staying over at Rei's house, pleading for either his nieces or his close friends Mafuyu and Yuu not to leave him behind.]]

!!Reika Kuze
->Voiced by: Creator/JunkoMinagawa (Japanese), Kimberly Brooks (English)

The tattooed priestess, and possibly the biggest WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds in the series. [[spoiler:Like Kirie, she was a VirginSacrifice for a ritual that, because of a secret romance and a string of tragic events, lead to her unleashing the Rift and spread her suffering to others through their dreams.]]

* BreakTheCutie: [[spoiler:The final straw was Kaname being murdered right in front of her.]]
* ColdBloodedTorture: She ''lived'' enduring this until the day of her death...
* DisproportionateRetribution: ... And she unleashed it all back, not only at the Kuze Household, but also those who longed to see their lost loved ones like the worshipers.
* FateWorseThanDeath: [[spoiler:For eternity, she must dream of the grief engraved on her so that they won't have to.]]
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Taken to literal extremes.
* KickTheSonOfABitch: Once the reasons for the ritual are revealed, it's hard to feel sorry for her [[AssholeVictim initial victims]].
* {{Miko}}: She's the Tattooed Priestess
* MementoMacGuffin: Her Echo Stone Earring, which was a gift from her childhood friend Kaname.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge
* SoleSurvivor: Of an avalanche that took out her village and family, hence why she was taken in by the Kuze Manor willingly.
* StoryboardBody: Her body is filled with tattoos, [[spoiler:each and every one of them for the pain of someone else.]]
* TattooedCrook
* TalkingToHerself: Creator/JunkoMinagawa voices both her and Rei.
* TraumaCongaLine: Dear lord! In order: She lost her family and village to an avalanche, adopted by another family and forced to endure ColdBloodedTorture until she died during which she finally found love, only to have that love brutally murdered in front of her. Would someone give this girl a hug?!
* WalkingShirtlessScene

[[folder: Introduced in Fatal Frame IV]]
!Fatal Frame IV

!!Ruka Minazuki
->Voiced by: MamikoNoto

The 17-year-old, soft-spoken protagonist of Fatal Frame IV. She was the last victim of the kidnapping incident and can't remember much about her time on Rougetsu Island. When she hears about the mysterious deaths of the other victims, she decides to return to the island.

* AmnesiacHero
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Yellow, as the color for her dress and the theme color of the game.
* MeaningfulName: Her name can be read as "the flow of a song". [[spoiler: The Tsukimori Song plays a very important role in the story.]]
* [[spoiler:{{Miko}}: The true Kiraigou considers her one, as a Tsukimori Shrine Maiden is required to fully complete the ritual and play the Lunar Melody. The practice died out, but Ruka's mother Sayaka took her bloodline as one seriously, teaching her daughter the song.]]
* [[spoiler:ParentalAbandonment: Sayaka died of illness some time before Ruka left for Rougetsu Island, and her father Souya was presumably killed during Sakuya's rampage.]]
* ThePianoPlayer
* ProperTightsWithASkirt

!!Misaki Asou
->Voiced by: Creator/MiyukiSawashiro

A strong-willed girl who was kidnapped on Rougetsu Island as a child. Hearing that the other victims are dying mysteriously, she takes Madoka to their childhood place to recover her memories. [[spoiler: She's a descendent of the Camera Obscura's inventor, Kunihiko Asou. She inherited a strong sixth sense that leads to her spiritual connection with Sakuya.]]

* JerkAss: She drags an unwilling Madoka to Rougetsu Island (though, admittedly, she's trying to save both their lives)... only to thoughtlessly abandon her because she falls behind,[[spoiler: leading to the poor girl's death.]] She also callously dismisses Madoka's fears, curtly telling her "It's fine, just do what I say."
** JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Develops into this as the game goes on.
* PetTheDog: In one DummiedOut diary entry, she would use her sixth sense to sense Madoka's suffering and protect her from Ayako's bullying.
* PsychicLink: With Sakuya.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's the tomboy to Madoka's girly girl.
* ZettaiRyouiki: Grade A.

!!Madoka Tsukimori
->Voiced by: Creator/SaoriGoto

A reserved girl who was one of the kidnapped victims. After the deaths of her friends, Marie and Tomoe, she was dragged along by Misaki to Rougetsu Island to uncover the truth. [[spoiler:She ends up spirited away and reappears as a boss for Ruka and Misaki to fight.]]

* [[spoiler: TheLegendOfChekhov: A letter from her mother tells her that their family bloodline will protect her. It doesn't, but the Tsukimori name becomes much more important later in the story.]]
* [[spoiler: DoomedProtagonist: She dies in the first chapter.]]
* ReplacementGoldfish: She believed she was one for Misaki's friend, the mysterious girl in black. [[spoiler:In reality it's Sakuya, Misaki's actual friend. The girl in black was a doll Sakuya gave to Misaki.]]
* TheQuietOne
* [[spoiler:SanitySlippage: Her memos hint this happened to her before she died; her writing becomes more childish and disjointed.]]
* ShrinkingViolet
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's the girly girl to Misaki's tomboy.
* [[spoiler:TurnsRed: Like other ghosts, she'll "Bloom" when her health is low, powering her attacks and giving her the chance to kill in one hit.]]
* [[spoiler:WhenSheSmiles: To Misaki in the Photograph Ending.]]

!!Choushiro Kirishima
->Voiced by: Creator/KatsuyukiKonishi

Ex-police officer turned detective. He discovered the five abducted girls in a cave beneath Haibara Hospital and has been chasing the perpetrator, You Haibara, ever since. Unlike other playable characters, he uses a device called the Spirit Stone Flashlight to fight ghosts.

* AllLoveIsUnrequited: He had feelings for Sayaka, Ruka's mother.
* [[spoiler: BigDamnHeroes]]
* [[spoiler: DeadAllAlong]]
* {{Determinator}}: [[spoiler: It causes him to be caught in a cycle of pursuing You Haibara until the moment of his death. On a more positive note, it also saves him from the Getsuyuu outbreak. His determination in finding Haibara snaps him out of his fear of Sakuya's distorted face (he caught a glimpse of You running away during so), which would have caused him to Bloom otherwise.]]
* {{Lunacy}}: How the Spirit Stone Flashlight exorcises ghosts: it shines absorbed moonlight from the Spirit Stones to purify their spirits.
* PermaStubble
* [[spoiler: ResurrectedForAJob: Played with. The spirit of Sayaka contacts him to aid Ruka when she returns to the island. He's still dead, but it breaks the loop his spirit was trapped in, and later he can join the others to the afterlife.]]
* [[spoiler:[[GoOutWithASmile Sent Off With A Smile.]]]]
* [[spoiler:TakingYouWithMe: How he kills You. Rather than let him escape, he tackles him off the roof so they both fall to their deaths, and right after he was stabbed no less.]]
* [[spoiler: TomatoInTheMirror]]
* [[spoiler:WhenHeSmiles]]

!!Sakuya Haibara
->Voiced by: Creator/RieTanaka

The antagonist of Fatal Frame IV. Her father and brother tried to cure her disease by making her dance in an ancient ritual. The ceremony failed so she now wanders the island inflicting death on all who look at her.

* BrotherSisterIncest: It's implied that Ayako is the daughter of Sakuya and You.
* CameBackWrong:[[spoiler: The ritual did not kill her; only leaving her a state between life and death. However, that allowed her to Bloom, a normally postmortem and contagious symptom of Getsuyuu Syndrome.]]
* CoolBigSis: She was this to her brother You,[[spoiler: and also fellow patients Misaki and Ayako.]]
* TheFaceless: The nurses often mention that they can't remember her face even after seeing her, which horrified them.
* MadScientistsBeautifulDaughter: [[spoiler: A subverted trope, her father and brother's obsession with curing her led to them going mad scientist on other patients to find one.]]
* ManySpiritsInsideOfOne:[[spoiler: As the Utsuwa of the Kiraigou, her true purpose is meant to be the vessel in which ghosts are sent through to enter the Afterlife.]]
* MeaningfulName: The characters of her name are read as "night of the new moon." Saku is also synonymous with the verb "to bloom".
* SanitySlippage: Came with the later stages of Getsuyuu Syndrome, combined with an immensely powerful sixth sense. [[spoiler: The reason why she isn't even referred to by her name early on is that the realization of severe lapses in her own identity caused her to have violent fits.]]
* UnkemptBeauty: When her face is visible, she's considered to be one of the prettiest characters in the series.
* YamatoNadeshiko

[[folder:Introduced in Fatal Frame V]]

* SoleSurvivor: Of a traffic accident.
* [[spoiler:SympathyForTheDevil: In both endings, her sympathy towards Ouse Kurosawa lifts the curse off the mountain and soothes Ouse's spirit.]]
* TogetherInDeath: With [[spoiler:Ouse]] in the bad/bittersweet ending.

!!Miu Hinasaki
->Voiced by: Creator/MaayaUchida

One of the protagonists of Fatal Frame V. She is searching for her mother Miku Hinasaki (the protagonist of the first Fatal Frame game and one of the protagonists of the third Fatal Frame game), who went missing when she was young. !!Ouse Kurosawa

The main antagonist of Fatal Frame V. [[spoiler: After losing her family to a flood, she gained an extremely strong sixth sense. She was chosen to a be a Great Pillar for the Black Lake, in order to appease the Yomi (Dark Spring) from the Other World at Mount Hikami. However, at the time of the ritual her fellow shrine maidens were being slaughtered, and their emotions that reached her (along with her own to live, not to die with Asou) weakened her resolve, releasing the Yomi from the box she was sealed in. She fell into the Lake as a result, eternally sinking into the depths and becoming a vengeful spirit.]]

* BodyHorror: Because of the Yomi, she looks like a drowned woman, with bluish, disheveled hair clinging to her, and glowing red eyes.
