- Sole Survivor: Akari is the only character that can survive the events of the story. Every other major character is long dead or serve as a tragic sacrifice within the narrative.

A second year student in Kisaragi Academy Senior High of Class 2-2. Vice president of the kendo club. After falling victim to a vengeful spirit, Sayako is doomed to become the new host of the school. She succumbs to malice and eventually has to be struck down for her to be a free spirit again.
- Ax-Crazy: Having lost her mind to malice against the living, she naturally becomes this.
- Final Boss: The main antagonist of the game, the game becomes an RPG when facing her in similar vein to the original host.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Performs this to prevent Yoshiki from being taken away by a vengeful spirit.
- Katanas Are Just Better: A katana is her main weapon of choice both living and dead.
- Sword Fight: Engages in one with Yoshiki, the winner determines what ending the player gets.
