Detective Conan: The Culprit Hanzawa

English Voice Actor: Max Mittelman (TMS/Bang Zoom)
- Ambiguous Gender: His likeness is used to represent criminals of any gender in the main series, and his chest is male while his hips are female. However, the bonus chapter of volume 1 revealed that he's a male since he's seen wearing a tie in his Imagine Spot, and he's later shown bathing in the male section of a bathhouse. His voice in the anime is also male.
- Country Mouse: Came from a countryside town (specifically Izumo, Shimane Prefecture) to live in Beika. He's often baffled by various aspects of big city life and is self-conscious about being seen as a hick.
- Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Keeps in touch with his mom back home, and she often sends him supplies.
- The Faceless: Drawn like the unidentified culprit silhouettes in the main series.
- Given Name Reveal: His first name is revealed to be Makoto.
- Impossibly Tacky Clothes: Likes his "Happy Factory" T-shirt but is embarrassed to wear it.
- Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: Came to Beika to commit murder, but seems to be stuck with normal life problems.
- Killing Intent: Plans to kill Shinichi, and strangers often comment on his "suspicious" aura and avoid him on the street.
- Lovable Coward: Even with his intent to kill, he's afraid of living in a stigmatized property.
- Meaningful Name: His aspire to murder someone in Beika and his name is a play on hannin ("culprit"). His first name, Makoto, means "truth", which is probably a play on the franchise's tagline, "One truth prevails", as his likeness is used to represent all unidentified criminals in the main work.
- Mr. Fanservice: Chapter 5 has several pages of him in the shower and no clothes on (not that his clothes are usually shown anyway). However, this is somewhat diminished because of his Barbie Doll Anatomy.
- Villain Protagonist: The entire point of the spinoff; he comes to Beika specifically for murder.
Hanzawa's Mother
- Accent Interest: Speaks in a thick countryside accent which Hanzawa's housemates seem to find interesting, but Hanzawa believes they're just making fun of her.
- Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Only because her child is quite self-conscious about their country roots.
- Doting Parent
- Strong Family Resemblance: Also drawn as a silhouette, but wears an apron.
Detective Conan: Zero's Tea Time
A spinoff series about "The Man with Three Faces": Rei Furuya/Zero the Public Security officer, Bourbon the Black Organization mole, and Tooru Amuro the private detective/café part-timer. Tells about both his work lives and downtime. Haro
Tooru Amuro's pet dog.
- Amusing Injuries: Injures himself to compel Amuro to patch him up, which Amuro empathizes with since he used to do the same thing to get to meet Elena Miyano, Haibara's deceased mother who was a doctor.
- Interspecies Friendship
- I Owe You My Life: Became attached to Amuro after he showed him kindness and saved him from being hit by a car.
- Theme Naming: Like with Akai and Amuro, his name is a Gundam Shout-Out, in this case to the lovable Robot Buddy Mascots that are iconic to the franchise.
