     Batman

Bruce Wayne / Batman

  • Badass Normal: As per usual, Batman has no super powers but through his intelligence, equipment and fighting ability, he is more than capable of pulling his weight with the Avengers in addition to fighting and defeating enhanced individuals like Killer Croc and Poison Ivy.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Batman, as always, to the extent that any gadgets he might leave behind at crime scenes are equipped with self-destruct functions so that nobody else can analyse them in depth, and he makes sure they don't resemble Wayne Enterprises technology (or any other technology from a single company), meaning it is hard to figure out their point-of-origin.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Batman to a certain extent seems to be this to the Avengers. Nick Fury does not like how little he knows about him, though he does believe that the Dark Knight cares for Gotham. Hawkeye really doesn't like Batman though he does accept that Gotham would have fallen apart without him. Tony just outright thinks he's a lunatic. However, he had little to nothing to do with them until the Chitauri Invasion that calling him their friend is stretching it.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Batman is a master at this, as Natasha finds out, remarking "that", she could do without.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: As always, Batman holds to this rule because he's afraid of what he might become if he breaks it even to deal with the likes of the Joker. This may or may not apply to the Chitauri, as Catwoman notes she thought she saw him use the definitely lethal main gun of the Batmobile on some of them at one point, though only because they were about to open fire on some civilians.
  • World's Best Warrior: Batman certainly ranks among the best, as Hawkeye, Black Widow and Captain America, who are all incredible fighters themselves, are amazed at his hand-to-hand combat abilities.

     Avengers

Anthony "Tony" Stark / Iron Man

Steve Rogers / Captain America

Thor Odinson

Bruce Banner / Hulk

Clint Barton / Hawkeye

Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow

     Bat Family

Alfred Pennyworth

Dick Grayson / Robinnote  / Nightwing

Barbara Gordon / Batgirlnote  / Oracle

  • Badass Bookworm: Not only is she Oracle, but Barbara had been Batgirl, fighting alongside Bruce and Dick against the villainy of Gotham City. And also, she had, alongside Fox, developed several of Batman's gadgets as well as reinvented the Batcomputer.
  • Genius Cripple: Being shot by the Joker and crippled by him, confined to a wheelchair, hasn't made Barbara any less, as Bruce and Barbara herself have pointed out.
  • Hacker Cave: Barbara uses the Clock Tower as her base of operations.
  • Mission Control: As Oracle, she serves as the Voice with an Internet Connection for the Bat Family, as well as Huntress and Black Canary.
  • Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: According to Natasha Romanoff, Batgirl had not been seen since the "Arkham Asylum incident" last year, and is presumed dead.
  • Teen Genius: She had been 15 years old when she had hacked into Batman's equipment, and later helped him when the Joker made his first appearance.

Selina Kyle / Catwoman

  • It Gets Easier: She notes how she's gone from being extremely nervous stealing a small Christmas ornament to being able to pull off grand heists without batting an eye. She also knows this is why Batman has his "no-killing" rule: She saw Batman beat Joker to a pulp after the Arkham Asylum incident, and could see it in his eyes that he had a killer inside of him. If he had killed the Joker, that would have been the first step down a dark path for him.

     Gotham City Police Department

James Gordon

     S.H.I.E.L.D.

Nick Fury

  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He dislikes how little he knows about Batman, and how little control he has, but knows that Batman is one of the few things keeping Gotham together and stopping the threats in the city from turning their gaze outwards, and as such turns a blind eye to him and his activities.

     Villains

Joker

  • Badass Normal: While not as good as Batman, he was still a skilled combatant both with guns and in hand-to-hand combat, a master strategist and manipulator that could run circles around the police while building a fanatically loyal following, an explosives expert who could make bombs with ease, and had a knowledge of chemistry that rivalled the Scarecrow. Emphasis on was: See Career-Ending Injury.
  • Career-Ending Injury: The beatdown he received from Batman following the death of Jason Todd left him completely crippled, unable to escape Arkham Asylum due to his body only being held together by metal rods and wires, unable to even laugh without causing himself to bleed, and requiring him to be permanently attached to medical equipment to survive. Batman himself notes that the cell they keep him in is basically a formality, as his body is now a prison in and of itself.
  • The Dreaded: All those talents listed under Badass Normal resulted in him being one of the most feared criminals alive, combined with his sheer unpredictability making it almost impossible to figure out what he was planning to do next. Hawkeye is terrified by the idea of what would have happened if he had appeared in a small, backwater country and been able to gather a group of followers without Batman or a strong government to oppose him.
  • For the Evulz: His only goal was to cause chaos for the sake of chaos.
