- Adaptational Attractiveness: In the books Agatha is described as having a plain square face and a stocky figure, but great brunette shiny hair. Ashley Jensen's Agatha is shapely, conventionally pretty with a stylish blonde bob.
- Has a Type: If he's tall with silver hair then Agatha will fall for him.
- High-Powered Career Woman: Agatha was a fashionable but hard-nosed PR whiz who scared a lot of people and got her own way. Now she's softened but still is a powerful head of a detective agency who sometimes does PR on the side.
Handsome man next door, gets pulled into Agatha's shenanigans.

- Fair Cop: He's a cute constable. Several very pretty women find him handsome or interesting.
- Love Hurts: He's heart-broken when Dr. Grace breaks off their relationship because she gets interested in young Mr. Garland.
Former colleague of Agatha's from her Public Relations firm, becomes her assistant in the detective agency by season three.
Aristocratic friend of Agatha's and James, who has a flirtation with her.
- Gentleman Snarker: Arguably equal to Bill as on the one ho can most keep up with Agatha for quickness of quips.
- Millionaire Playboy: Played straight, he is very wealthy and despite some boorishness is often a hit with women.
Sarah Bloxby: wife of Reverend Jez Bloxby, becomes curate in season four after Jez first leaves for missionary work in season two and then they divorce off camera between season three and four.
- Age Lift: In the books she has grey hairs and is more motherly, in the series she's a young, athletic brunette.
House keeper turned girl Friday.
- Put on a Bus: Gemma went out of town in season two to do some work and sent her cousin Toni to help Agatha. Gemma has not been seen since.

- Drives Like Crazy: In season four's Christmas special "Kissing Christmas Goodbye" Toni can't drive but still speeds around in Agatha's car hitting multiple things throughout the episode.
- Photographic Memory: In her first case Toni was able to sneak into Barfield House's collection of historical architectural plans and memorise the blueprints of Ivy Hall for Agatha's investigation.
