* ForWantOfANail: Robert initially had the firm intention of bringing Mya back to King's Landing and taking care of her, at least: [[spoiler:but, Cersei strongly implied that she would have the child killed if he did so. Because of this, Mya was left back in The Vale, and Robert would not attempt to bring any more of his bastards up. He, in fact, went out of his way ''not'' to know much about them if avoidable from that point onward as a distancing tactic. This is partially out of a wish to avoid heartbreak, true, but it's not simply an excuse if you're justified in trying to keep them alive, too.]]

* ParentalAbandonment: Mya has memories of spending time with Robert when she was young, but he then disappeared from her life, and, from her point of view, never showed any interest in her ever again (though unknown to her, he was strong-armed into doing so --see ForWantOfANail). This doesn't seem to bother her too much, at first. Later when Alayne and Myranda are descending from the Eyrie she describes her childhood memories of her father playing with her with great bitterness. [[spoiler:It's eventually revealed that Robert wanted to bring her to court, but Cersei [[ShameIfSomethingHappened obliquely threatened to kill her]] if he did. There are small hints, however, that her mother might have received some payment or tokens via Varys, and that strings may have been pulled to give her a few advantages in life, such as the chance to learn her trade as a mountain guide. Even if she doesn't know about that.]]

* StrongFamilyResemblance: Ned Stark argues that she looks like her half-sister Mya Stone as a baby.

* AwesomeMcCoolName: Edric Storm. C'mon.

The eldest of Robert's bastards, conceived whilst he was being fostered in the Vale. She serves as a guide on the rocky climb from the Vale to the Eyrie, leading trains of mules. She interacts with Alayne Stone (who in truth is a disguised Sansa Stark) during her stay there.

* BoyishShortHair: Her Baratheon black hair is cropped short.

* InnocenceLost: Said innocence however is gone, when her love, Mychel, is forced to marry a highborn lady and leaves her heartbroken.

* StrongFamilyResemblance: She has the requisite black hair and blue eyes of the Baratheon line.
** And, if Lothor Brune's comment is any indication, she got a decent enough wedge of the family stubbornness to tide her over. She's also strong, athletic and prefers to be physically active, which are other inherited traits.

* WholesomeCrossdresser: For the culture she lives in.

* HumanSacrifice: Melisandre wants to use him as a sacrifice because of his royal blood. [[spoiler:Davos puts the kibosh on that plan by having him whisked off to Lys.]]

* StarCrossedLovers: She and Mychel Redfort had feelings for each other, [[UnequalPairing despite his being a highborn knight and she a baseborn commoner]] (especially since Robert never officially recognized her). When Catelyn meets her in ''AGOT'', Mya is practically giggling with happiness. Lord Horton, of course, had no intention of allowing his son to marry a commoner, much less a bastard, and so he forced Mychel to marry Ysilla Royce, daughter of Bronze Yohn. When Alayne later meets Mya on her way to the Vale, the older girl is much quieter and sadder, as befits a broken heart. Also, in Alayne's TWOW chapter, is heavily implied that she and Mychel sometimes sneak away to see each other.

* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She prefers stereotypically masculine clothing and keeps her hair short compared to Alayne who wears dresses.

* HiddenBackupPrince: When it comes down to it, Edric, as a formally acknowledged bastard of two Great Houses, being raised properly by his father's family can be seen as semi-official insurance for both. Should either lineage, say, run out of heirs, need some marriage ties or suddenly need to shore any existing claims up a smidge with a little in-house [[KissingCousins double-back marriage]] (not looking at you, Shireen)... There he is. Handy to be made legit. And to possibly cause problems (also looking at you, Shireen -- Westerosi nobles tend to balk at ruling ladies/queens if they can plonk a semi-justified man there, instead).

* LikeFatherLikeSon: Edric is described as having a personality resembling a mix of both Robert and Renly, but most people naturally emphasise his resemblance to his father.
