Joy Ahn
- Cigarette of Anxiety: Joy takes a lot of these in the story whenever she starts to think about depressing things in her life.
- Extreme Doormat: Fits Joy very well as a description. In the story, she eventually overcomes this flaw and learns to speak up for herself once she gets out of her current environment into a more supporting one.
- Stepford Smiler: Played Straight as Joy is deeply depressed because every time, she has to smile to ease conflict or tension as demanded by her by the people around her.
Aerie Park
- I Have No Son!: Invoked by Aerie's father when she was disowned for "kissing a girl in broad daylight".
- Parental Issues: Aerie constantly argues with her father and was even disowned by him, and her mother doesn't exactly stick up for her either.
Side Characters
Hunter Jeong
- Entitled Bastard: He believes that because he has a crush on Joy that she should reciprocate it and reacts aggressively when told otherwise as shown below in this quote.
Hunter: It's about time we started dating, no?
