These recaps contain the following tropes:
- Alternate Character Interpretation: The recapper of Nightmare in Death Valley theorizes that Ken is bisexual, based upon his ownership of a sailor's cap and a scene where he's distracted by the smell of lilac.
- The OneBruceOne version of Mr. Collins is a blatant ephebophile who takes advantage of his students.
- Memetic Mutation: "TODDPUNCH", referring to the character Todd's habit of punching people.
- Running Gag: Whenever Mr. Collins appears in a story, the first novel's description of him as "a Robert Redford lookalike" will be quoted, however irrelevant it is to the recap.
- "Heroically deaf" Regina always being referred to as such.
- Younger and Hipper: Several recaps compare the original editions to their modernized rereleases, usually unfavorably. The latter removing Bruce Patman's hilariously egoistical license plate- which the community loved enough to name itself after- is especially criticized.
- WTH, Costuming Department?: The recapper of Racing Hearts laments having been young enough to believe the series when it described chino pants as cool.
