- The opening theme. GunBuster uses many tropes of 80s movies, so it makes sense to have an equally 80s opening theme. The ending theme also hammers in the 80s atmosphere.
- The Gunbuster march, which plays during all the episode recaps (and during the Gunbuster's epic reveal in episode 4), sets the mood for the show.
- Noriko's theme is a rousing piano piece that comes in during many of her fights.
- "Fly High!" plays during the battle at the end of Episode 5. It's a motivating piece that makes you want to get out of your seat and take on the world.
