Awesome Music / Far Cry 5

Go To

Far Cry 5, with its religious themes, has an excellent choir-themed soundtrack full of gospel-style music.

  • The first song that you're likely to hear is "Now That This Old World is Ending" by Dan Romer. While not as fast-paced as the other tracks, the haunting melody and gentle banjo tunes helps establish a serene, yet melancholy atmosphere that perfectly describes a place like Hope County: A sleepy, out-of-the-way region with little connection to urban life...but even then, behind the peaceful notes lurks an ominous feeling, much like the way Seed's followers lurk at their compound, awaiting Armageddon and posing a dangerous threat to Hope County's inhabitants.
  • "Let the Water Wash Away Your Sins", a song about forgiveness that starts off happy and ends incredibly dark. "If your soul has grown weary and your heart feels tired, let the water wash away your sins" gives way to "And if you're thinking 'bout the highway and you're looking at your wrists, let the water wash away your sins..."
  • "Help Me Faith" plays during Faith's boss battle. It's a haunting, almost ethereal hymn about a woman's life of regrets.
  • "The Shackles I Wore" almost sounds like a remix of "Help Me Faith", but it's an absolutely terrifying standalone tune that combines angelic singing with intense, nightmarish drums and a driving beat that comes together for a drug-addled fight for your life.
  • "We Will Rise Again" has an almost sing-songy Lyrical Dissonance with an exalted, energetic feel to it, but it sings about the end of the world.
  • "The Blessing Takes Just Minutes" plays during some battles and after liberating outposts, with the resistance tearing down the cult's symbols and raising the US flag.
  • "Keep Your Rifle by Your Side" is incredibly catchy and energetic, with wonderful alternating male and female harmonies. Doubly awesome is how the lyrics shift: What at first is a Peggy-focused chorus of preparing for the end becomes a Resistance-rallying cry against the Seeds as you destroy the cult.
  • "Set Those Sinners Free" is a gloriously creepy song about Jacob Seed dealing with unbelievers. The Peter Harper version sounds like Johnny Cash's God's Gonna Cut You Down, which is awesome in its own right.
  • "Clutch Nixon" by the Road Vikings, which is identical to their "Ballad of Evel Knievel" apart from replacing Evel's name with Clutch's, accompanies every Clutch Nixon challenge, and it is awesome and hilariously over the top in equal measure. Just try not throwing up the devil horns and rocking out after beating a challenge.
  • "Oh John" is so catchy and upbeat it's hard not to sing along or at the very least tap your foot to the drums.
  • "When the Morning Light Shines In" is just one of two songs that plays while in various menus. It's not unheard of for players to spend several minutes on the map screen just listening to this soothing piece.
  • The lead singer in the Choir version of "Oh the Bliss", a song that plays while meeting with Faith in the Bliss. The lead singer puts so much emotion and effort into the song that it gives the image of the singer having tears fall from her face near the end. The Reimagined version that plays in the game is suitably creepy and uplifting at the same time with its light organ, whispery wind instruments and dreamlike vocals.
  • "The World's Gonna End Tonight" (rock version) is an adrenaline-pumping rock song that only plays in the Resist Ending when the player has to drive through armageddon and reach Dutch's bunker before they burn alive in nuclear fire. It's pretty tense.
  • "Now He's Our Father (Reinterpretation)" is a hauntingly beautiful song that plays twice, once during a Bliss vision and the second when Joseph Seed gives one last sermon to the player and offers them the final choice of the game, to resist and fight or walk away and leave. It's amazingly fitting and gives the already epic scene some extra punch as the player makes their decision.
  • "Sunrise on the Soldiers", the song that plays when a region is fully liberated, might be very short, but it's more than enough to make you want to pat yourself on the back for freeing the inhabitants of the county from the dominion of the Peggies.
  • On the fanmade side:
    • "Shepherd of this Flock" by JT Music and Miracle of Sound. It's JT Music's typical Nerdcore styilings backed by a killer acoustic guitar and a chorus by Miracle of Sound from the POV of Joseph Seed:
Who found you while you were lost? When blind, who helped you see?
'Cause I'm the shepherd of this flock, I guide my righteous sheep
Of your sins I'll see you washed, then I'll set your soul free
The word of God is one you trust, so thank God He speaks through me!
    • "Savior's Seed" by Miracle of Sound. The chorus is from the POV of the cultists themselves who devoutly carry out their leader's wishes, which is reinforced by each verse.
      Come brothers and sisters
We'll give you everything you need
      Come brothers and sisters
      We're scattering the Savor's seed
  • The "Special Delivery" mission where you have to drive a pregnant Kim Rye to a medical clinic, has background music which is a Surf Rock reinterpretation of the classic Doom piece "E1M1".
