Awesome / XCOM: Chimera Squad

Go To

As this is an Awesome Moments page, spoilers will be left unmarked. You Have Been Warned!

  • The background of the Reclamation Agency and Chimera Squad in general. Canonically, the Alien War ended in 2036. By 2037, Kelly is already advocating for integration of aliens into the fold as allies, and Bradford is against it. But the mere fact that Chimera Squad exists and has alien recruits, and that City 31 exists and mostly exists in harmony but for some agitators, indicates that she argued for it successfully. And more than that, the XCOM Commander, you, okayed the prospect despite being enslaved by the Ethereals for two decades. There's Reasonable Authority Figure, and then there's Big Good, and it's clear that despite the Commander's lack of appearance in the game, they are considered the Big Good by everyone.
  • The Very Definitely Final Dungeon is described as a fortress, with no quick access route inside. Whisper of all people has a realization: Chimera Squad is driving an Awesome Personnel Carrier - they'll just make their own entrance!
  • By the end of the game, mere months after the mayor is assassinated, Chimera Squad has dismantled three underground criminal networks and a conspiracy to make the world beg for authoritarian rule. All the while being understaffed, underequipped, and having no political goodwill.
    • It also reveals that Chimera Squad is thorough - thorough enough that the greater conspiracy outright declares City 31 a lost cause - they simply have no assets left in the city to utilize, and they have nothing to show for it.
