Awesome / The Chase (Game Show)

Go To

  • Larry took the high offer, made it back safely, AND outran Mark Labbett in the Final Chase, winning £60,000. To make it even more awesome, it was the highest total won by any single player in show history at the time.
  • Paul & Andrew split £40,000 by getting 5 push-backs on the Governess.
  • This team made it a full house in short order, tied the longest escape ever with 28 steps, and still needed 3 push-backs to get an absolutely on fire Sinha.
    • This team later on got £41,000 and 26 steps, also against the Sinnerman. Paul Sinha referred to the previously mentioned chase just before the game started. And when it began? He got absolutely ripped apart - he just about made it to 13 before the time runs out. Afterwards, he called it Modern Chase History.
  • This duo split £80,000.
  • Another big solo Final Chase, this one for £50,000.
  • This threesome won £90,000 in the Final Chase.
  • One contestant was a former manager of a Weight Watchers group, a fact she mentioned in a way that was undoubtedly patronizing towards The Governess. How does the Governess respond? She destroyed her!
  • A contestant named Renee who took on the Dark Destroyer alone and not only won, but absolutely destroyed him, causing him to be defeated when he was still nine steps behind her. How good was she? People were immediately asking for her to be added to the show as a new Chaser.
  • The episode aired on 12th December 2017 had a contestant comment on the high offer of £16,000, saying she would have preferred £30,000. Shaun responded by actually changing the high offer to that amount. The contestant took the 39 grand that she asked for, brought it to the prize fund, and ended up winning the final, with the help of her other teammates who got back.
  • Let's talk Judith, last member of her team remaining. Goes for the high offer of £70,000 and takes it home. Then, in the final chase, sets a massive 20 step target (on her own!) and... well, it's on this page, see for yourself
    • Incidentally, Natasha pulled a similar feat on the ABC version. Last player? Check. Banks $70,000? Checknote . Sets a 20 step target on her own? Check. Beats the Chaser easily? Triple check.
  • 20-year-old Eden takes on the Menace all by himself, and hands him his first-ever loss since the latter became the sixth Chasernote . With a target of 18 and four successful push-backs, he wins a record-breaking £75,000.
    • This would later be topped by Dan, who flew solo against the Vixen, managed a target of 17, and converted a game-winning pushback for £80,000 by answering the following question correctly with almost no hesitation: Israel's main airport is named after which prime minister?answer
  • The team in September 2023 which beat Mark and won £120,000, the highest ever win on the daytime version.

  • The US version has a few incredible moments as well.
    • The 2nd episode features a full house team defeating The Beast with 2 steps to go, winning a record (for The Chase at the time, and still for GSN) $180,000.
    • Another first season episode features a sole player, future Best Ever Trivia Show panelist Raj Dhuwalia, with a bank of $125,000 managing 7 pushbacks on The Beast, leaving him at only 10 steps of the total 19 required. The Beast only avoided an 8th due to outright surrendering as time ran out. Raj would be the only contestant in the entire GSN run to defeat the Beast in the Final Chase as a solo player.
    • The first half finale of season three features a full house (including future Jeopardy! super champ James Holzhauer) managing to accumulate 26 steps, with The Beast not even able to get halfway through, suffering multiple pushbacks during his run, and leading "Team J" to win $175,000.
      • For that matter, James's performance during the game - he got a record 12 questions right in the Cashbuilder (and heard a 13th just before time ran out). Also, during the Final Chase, James contributed a whopping 19 of the team's 26 steps.
      • When the ABC version premiered in 2021, James showed up all over again — this time, as one of three resident Chasers (alongside Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter). In fact in his first run as a chaser, he caught a team without missing a single question during his final chase.
    • The season four premiere had three contestants who had previously been caught by the Beast in past episodes brought back for a rematch. This time, they all made it back safely, AND they beat the Beast with 20 steps in the Final Chase, winning $105,000 in the process.
    • A season two episode features a full house team, including a woman named Arielle, defeating the Beast in the Final Chase and winning a total of $80,000. Two years later, Arielle's brother James becomes a contestant and announces that in addition to beating the Beast, he also wants to outdo his sister's performance. As it turns out, not only does he earn $35,000 in the cash builder round, matching his sister's performance exactly, his team goes on to defeat the Beast in the Final Chase, winning a total of $80,000 - the exact same amount that Arielle's team won.
  • Beat the Chasers gives an incredible moment where a contestant named Jean faces off against all five chasers with 55 seconds on their board and £100,000 on the line, and squeezes out a victory with only one second left on her clock.
    • Nigel also took on all five Chasers and won £100,000, becoming the second civilian to win six figures. Notably, the Dark Destroyer caused a "wrong person answer" on a question about Escape to Victory, which most likely cost the Chasers the gamenote . Afterwards, the Governess fittingly commented that "[Nigel] did Escape to Victory".
  • One for the record books. The ABC version, after a decent, though not terribly impressive first season, finally manages to score a big win (actually three) in the third episode of Season 2.
    • Contestant Liz becomes only the second person on the ABC version to go for the high offer ($300,000 in this case)- and the first to successfully bank it.
    • This is followed up by her teammates Diva and Greg banking $80,000 (Cash Builder amount) and $280,000 (high offer) respectively, giving them a total bank of $660,000 ($220,000 for each for them).
    • They manage to build up 21 steps in the Final Chase and give multiple pushbacks to James- including two in the last ten seconds where it looked like he might actually catch them- and end up taking home the biggest bank the show has offered yet! You can watch his attempt to reel them in here.
    • The win would become even more impressive in hindsight - it turned out to be James's only Final Chase loss in Season 2, as he would finish the season with a 4-1 record, the best of all the Chasers.
