  • Gracie threatening Kathy Morningside on stage making sure that none of the audience nor the host are the wiser. This is awesome for two reasons. One, by then she figures out who "The Citizen" is and is letting her know she'll go after her if and when she does anything to hurt the other pageant girls. The Oh, Crap! look on Kathy's face is even more priceless. Two, Kathy threatened to kill her after a false alarm stunt that nearly compromised her identity and the pageant.
  • Miss New York coming out as a Lipstick Lesbian on air, telling any other lesbians watching that if she can make it, so can they. She then calls out to her girlfriend (watching from the audience) that she loves her as she's dragged offstage.
Miss New York: (blowing a kiss to the audience as she's dragged away) Tina, I love you, baby!
Random Audience Member: (jumping up from her seat) I LOVE YOU, KAREN!
    • The capper? Almost everyone's response is Stunned Silence. Gracie's response is to begin applauding.
Stan: We'll be back with our final five lesbians. Interviews.
Male technician: Bumper. Commercial. Can we say "lesbians"?
Female technician: You got a problem with that?
  • Gracie improvising a self-defense demonstration as her Talent for the final. Doubles as a Funny Moment thanks to Eric getting his ass kicked as her assistant.
  • The final part of Gracie's speech during the pageant. She publicly declares that she will go after anyone who dares to threaten her new friends. Yes, it's funny that she suddenly ruins her speech with a threat, but it's also awesome and heartwarming to see that she cares deeply about these women she spent the last few weeks with and is willing to stand up for them if someone hurts or threatens them.
  • It's repeatedly stated that the contest is rigged to get Gracie into the Top Five for security reasons, and once the FBI leave she's only guaranteed the Top Ten. She ultimately comes second, no doubt thanks to her improvised talent display and the Q&A answer.
    • For that matter, Cheryl winning the entire contest. She's obviously not one of the favorites early in the contest. Her initial talent routine is stiff and awkward, and then there's her infamous gaffe during the Q&A. Despite all this, she still manages to win the judges over with her fire baton routine.
    • On the other hand, when Grace tries to bring up this point to Victor when she keeps snarking at him during training that keeps her from getting any real rest, Victor breaks and not only chews her out for treating him so roughly when he's trying to help her (albeit with his own snark and cutting wit, mind), but he also questions if she has any actual pride in herself to actually EARN that spot in the Top 5 instead of simply being rigged to be in it. It's after this point and the following scene where Matthews encourages her to continue that Grace starts to show more actual participation and confidence in herself on stage. Effectively, she DID start to develop enough pride to try!
      • Which brings us back to the above point. She no longer had the FBI backing to secure her spot in the Top 5, leaving her to have to face the pageant on her own, using everything she had learned and gained up to that point. She places second...not bad for having to fly solo like that!
  • It's probably safe to say that Cheryl becomes Grace's best friend over the course of the movie given she's the first to reach out to Grace and befriend her despite their often clashing personalities. The awesome comes from the effect that it has on both of them as Grace befriends the pageant girls while Cheryl finally gains enough confidence in herself through Grace's encouragement to win the competition.
