In one of the TV spots, aired during Shark Week, a small dog similar to the one from the first film can be seen biting the tentacle of the large cephalopod many times its size.
DJ's first hint of taking a level in bad ass. He has pepper spray and a taser, he sprays the pepper spray and Mac is to rush out and tase them. It goes a little wrong with Mac getting blinded after rushing out but DJ is able to tase Jess before she seizes a gun.
When Driscoli's mercs have them at gunpoint, Jiuming gets DJ to hit a button that opens a door to allow the Snappers to come in and eat the mercs, giving Mac, DJ, Jiuming, and Rigas a chance to run.
Jiumeng being able to survive and kill one of the salamanders by stabbing it in the throat with a broken shovel.
Jiumeng keeps attempting his Heroic Sacrifice up until the finale, when he stakes an improvised bomb onto the giant octopus. The explosion wounds it but doesn't kill it, so it grabs him as he tries to swim away — only for Haiqi to swoop in and attack it, allowing him to escape.
The subsequent battle between Haiqi and the octopus, with the Meg herself of course winning. Special note goes to the moment where it's trying to strangle her and she plays dead, allowing her to bite off its tentacle when it comes loose.
The final stand by Jonas against the alpha Meg, culminating in him impaling the beast by baiting it to attack him.
