• One of this game's strongest positives was Thomas Jane's excellent performance as the main character, Cole. His crowning gem in the game, however, had to be the moment Cole killed Reed: Walking right up to him, shoving the barrel of Ned's rifle right into that bastard's mouth and snarling "This is for Jenny!" before pulling the trigger. The way Jane delivers that line upon catching up to the man who killed both his Love Interest and his foster father says it all.
• Hoodoo Brown's death.

  Colton White: You were.
• In the Magruder flashback, three civilians in succession have a Dying Moment of Awesome defying him. Reminds you that Cole isn't the only hero around.
• An Awesome Music example, riding across the frontier whilst the title music swells up in the background.
• The closing; as Magruder is trapped in the collapsing mine, Colton explains that no matter how much he would like to inflict cruel revenge on Magruder, he concludes that none of this will bring his loved ones back and instead leaves Magruder to die a well deserved Death by Materialism.
  Colton White: I'd like to shoot you in the teeth. But that would be too kind. Reckon instead I'll take my knife, whittle you some like you did Soapy. Then slit your throat like you did Jenny. Or maybe I'll take this cross and jam it in your good eye and watch you twitch. But none of that will bring back my Ma and Pa, or all those villagers you massacared. Nor Ned who raised me as his own. So long Major. Give the Devil my regards.''
