• One of the trailers for the anime culminated in what has come to be known as FOREST FIRE PUNCH!, wherein Guin punches a mook so hard that not only does his head carve a gulley through a nearby tree, but sets the tree on fire.
• In volume 4 of the novel, Istavan, who at times comes off like a coward, proves why he has Guin's complete trust by sneaking into the invading Mongauli army under the guise of a stray soldier he killed in the middle of the pitch-black desert night and gaining the trust of the captain of the Blue Knights. He then leads the Knights into a horrific ambush by the Sem, resulting in a complete massacre of the troop. It takes balls of steel to sneak into an army of 10,000 and sit right beside the captain without breaking a sweat.
