• Awesome Music: The soundtrack is by Nobuo Uematsu, of Final Fantasy fame. The opening theme in particular, "This Is My Road", is beautiful.
• Base-Breaking Character: Remus is despised as a whiny character by some and praised as a realistic portrayal of a kid in his situation by others.
• Cliché Storm: Thanks to it being the founder, it ends up this nowadays.
• Ho Yay: More prevalent in the later volumes.
• Once Original, Now Common: Many of the tropes in Japanese RPGs have their origins in this series, which leads to some reviews of the anime decrying the clichés used.
• So Bad, It's Good: The dub begins as a perfectly serviceable effort for about half the show. The second half of the show? Oh good golly.
• Viewer Gender Confusion: Aldo Naris
• The Woobie: It's hard not to feel sorry for Amnelis after all she goes through in the novels after the series ends.
