Bow before the Emperor.

  • Basically, the entire book. The artwork and portrayal of the world and its creatures is simply well-detailed and breathtaking, with its bizarre alien fauna drawn almost like actual wildlife art of real animals.
  • Arrowtongues, the T. Rexpy of Darwin IV.
  • The book has a subplot regarding the Author Avatar's Jane Goodall-esque observation of a troop of Daggerwrists, observing their complex social behavior and giving the individuals nicknames.
  • The book's description of Barlowe's encounter with the Emperor Sea Strider: the creature that started it all, seen on the first Yma images that kickstarted the entire expedition to begin with. And it is truly a glorious moment, the mighty beasts towering hundreds of feet high as they trek across the Amoebic Sea like ships sailing across the ocean. It's no wonder Barlowe describes their presence as "very humbling".
"This was indeed the bizarre animal whose existence had catalyzed the formation of the Expedition. Its great crested head was licked by lightning; its sides, heaving with the enormous effort of its walking, were buffeted by gale-force winds; and I realized that virtually no force in Nature could affect such a creature."
    • The documentary adaptation has a much more concise, but still effective description.
"It's the biggest lifeform ever encountered. Anywhere."
  • The moment when the Eosapiens make first contact with Barlowe also count, as a group of them gently and curiously inspect his ship, while he notes how it gave the feeling that he was the alien, and not the other way around.
