  • During World War I, a Belgian company receives orders to attack a bridge that could be suicide if the wind doesn't aid them. Then a humble corporal tells the captain that if they attack now, they'll get the result they want. The corporal is right. The attack is a success. And the captain praises the corporal — Poirot — for being made for something far greater than farming.
  • Rosalie Otterbourne, fully aware of the tricks owners can pull for a touring Black singing group, stands up to the night club owner. She tells him that until they're paid up front, no music. She gets her check, and the band begins their Jazz routine.
    • To his credit the owner merely smiles at the end and hands her the money.
  • Salome is also a great performer. She's suitably a great singer, and can even think 2 steps ahead in knowing what Poirot already suspects.
  • Right when Jacqueline and Simon draw their gun in an attempt to make their way out, Salome Otterbourne backs up Poirot in a Mexican Standoff, keeping them outnumbered and not an easy chance to shoot their way out.
