Awesome / Civvie 11

Go To

  • H4MM3R, at the end of the Duke Nukem Forever video, saves the world by going back in time to warn everyone of the upcoming disaster Civvie's uncle would unleash. The Civvie stranded in this Bad Future as he does so meanwhile, decides to go out fighting (even if it's completely ineffectual) against the oncoming monsters that break into his room.
  • Civvie has one for his first Pro Doom video, where he takes on the original first three episodes of Doom with a set of rules: No mouse aiming, no saving and reloading, Ultra Violence difficulty (the hardest difficulty without Nightmare's fast respawning monsters) and he has to finish a can of Monster Ultra Zero Energy drink, which to him was the hardest part of the run. The real awesome comes from him pulling them off on such rules with only one death. Even after he removes the "No saving" rule for Thy Flesh Consumed onward he still pulls it off very handily, even with all the shit Hell Beneath gives him.
  • Not only does Civvie manage to beat the "Rich Get Richer" rune trial in Doom (2016), he finds a way to power up the rune within two minutes of unlocking it. The result is infinite ammo for the skilled Civvie and endless ripping and tearing.
  • How about Civvie pitchforking a Cheogh on "Well Done" in Cryptic Passage?
  • Civvie hands one over to Rise of the Triad for what he sees as an absolutely fantastic soundtrack for a rather forgotten DOS shooter. And its not just him talking about how good the soundtrack is, its basically him gushing about it in his own way. He gives viewers samples of each and everyone of its songs, and points out every episode and instance where he's used various pieces of ROTT music as Background Music, of which there's plenty. He also reminds the audience of his use of "Here Boy" and "How'd I Do?" his intro and outro. And after praising how far out of the park Lee Jackson and Bobby Prince knocked it, Civvie boldly compares ROTTs soundtrack favourably to the OSTs of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Mega Man X.
    • His praise for the ROTT soundtrack spawned its' own awesome moment too, with Lee Jackson himself thanking Civvie for his remarks in the videos' comments.
    • When he gets to the 2013 reboot's music, he gives Andrew Hulshult his due credit for doing some fantastic remix work on the old Lee Jackson tracks. In particular, singling out the awesome bass work on "I Choose The Stairs."
    • Relating to his ROTT-gushing, he hands yet another to the Ludicrous Edition. He heaps a ton of praise on Nightdive and New Blood for making a maximum effort remaster when they almost didn't have to, as they not only include all the game's episodes plus one new level pack, but they un-dummied out some Dummied Out content, fixed a lot of bugs, added a lot of accessibility features, both the original 1994 soundtrack and the 2013 reboot's music as options and even brought back Big John as a bonus.
Civvie: Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition is a maximum effort port for a game I assumed would get widescreen support and a console release and maybe they'd clean it up a little and throw it on Steam, but NO. They did everything. They did EVERYTHING.[...]Everything, and I mean fucking EVERYTHING related to Rise of the Triad in any official capacity in the history of the game is included in this package. And then some. If you're a ROTT fan, all three of you out there, you want this. I love ROTT and I don't even think it deserved to be treated this well.
  • The climax of the third part of his Dusk review. This whole sequence is essentially a reenactment of how he felt going into this the first time, and he does such an incredible job at it that it becomes less of a build-up to the boss and more of a tribute to one of his favorite voice actors of all time.
Nyarlathotep: He was worthy, you know. And he accomplished so much...
    Civvie: Uh-
Nyarlathotep: But then, you came along.
    Civvie: ...wait a minute.
Nyarlathotep: You, who were stronger. You, who were faster.
Civvie: No. Oh, my God, that...that can't be.
    Nyarlathotep: You? I like...better.
    Civvie: [Gasps with excitement]
Nyarlathotep: Who did you expect at the end of all this? God?
[A remix of the Blood theme starts playing. Civvie superimposes Stephan Weyte's face on the black screen, followed by Captain Claw]
    Nyarlathotep: The devil, perhaps?
[Caleb appears with them shortly before they all fade into the blackness]
    Nyarlathotep: No...it's just...me.
[Nyarlathotep bursts onto the screen in time with the music kicking into high gear.]
    On-screen Text: STEPHAN. FUCKING. WEYTE.
[Civvie superimposes soldiers applauding, Eric Wareheim getting his mind blown, Henry Bowers getting his hair scared white, and a train entering a tunnel.]
  • His Professional Heresy video at one point has him transplant Corvus into the Department of Special Corrections' deep dark corridors. Why? Well, at one point Corvus is said to be going to a level called "The Dungeon" and Civvie's colloquial nickname for the DoSC is "the Dungeon." What makes this awesome is that its not just the intro animation with a Heretic weapon bobbing about, the whole Dungeon corridor's seemingly been fully rendered in the Doom engine just for this one joke. Now that's some talent!
    • Similarly, Heretic's hardest difficulty, "Black Plague Possesseth Thee", is this game's equivalent to Nightmare!, Damn, I'm Good and Extra Crispy but with one key difference: no respawning monsters. Civvie thus goes for that one rather than the UV equivalent and beats the whole thing like a champion should.
  • In the long-awaited Half-Life video, when presented with a choice between entering the G-Man's employ or fighting an unwinnable battle, Civvie instead, after countering the G-Man's assessment of Gordon as a 'decisive man' by pointing out he's been on a straight line the whole time, doing other people's dirty work, chooses to go out with a very literal bang.
  • For April Fools 2021, Civvie went to the effort of modelling a whole new work desk in his prison cell, as well as an NES toploader and a fake Hellraiser NES game. Why? Just to make something out of the supposed unreleased, unlicensed Color Dreams game based off of it. But not only that, he outright made a pseudo game out of it using GZDoom just to sell the joke even further, and even intentionally made it look like the sort of jerky ridiculous jank that would come out of either Color Dreams or Capstone! Talk about Doing It for the Art.
    • Related to above; when the game is booted up, Civvie is faced with Pinhead himself, who begins to torment Civvie. Civvie's response? Call him vanilla.
  • For the end of his Postal 4 playthrough, he is sorely disappointed with the fact that Edensin didn't end up an irradiated wasteland by the end of it. So he creates an addition to the ending where he, as in the Civvie in-game, notices the apocalypse happening and sets off a nuclear warhead (In MikeJ's bidet store, of course) to pull off the mother of all Taking You with Mes and put an end to the chaos of Edensin.
    Civvie: I regert nothing.
  • For a series well-known for showing some of the worst the FPS genre has had to offer, hearing Civvie gush about CULTIC is super-refreshing. What’s especially rare, though, is that one particular moment leaves him in genuine, utter awe.
Civvie: So I’m going around these mines, having fun, I pull out a Molotov cocktail thinking whatever’s waiting for me in this pit is probably not going to respond well to fire. Then I notice-
[The camera zooms in on an offered function: “TNT COMBO”]
    Civvie: What does that do?
[The character tapes a Molotov to a bundle of dynamite, lights the fuse, and throws it at a couple hulking monsters, resulting in an explosion that also lights them on fire]
Civvie: Holy shit. Why has no one thought of this before?!
  • In his video on Wolfenstein (2009), Civvie gives a hell of a Badass Boast on behalf of Nazi-killing machine BJ Blazkowicz:
Civvie: Bitch, I blow up half the buildings I go into. I've killed more Nazis than the Tommy Gun. You rat on me, you're gonna be a grease fire nobody remembers.
