KiraKira★Pretty Cure à la Mode: Crispy! The Mille-feuille of Memories! is the 23rd movie based on the Pretty Cure franchise, hitting theatres on October 28th, 2017. While primarily taking after the Kira Kira A La Mode season, it also includes characters from Go! Princess Pretty Cure and Maho Girls Pretty Cure!.

The Cures all head to France to compete in a baking contest, however Ciel seems to be acting strange. They also meet Ciel's former mentor, Jean-Pierre, giving them the idea to make a mille-feuille full of memories.

In the line-up of standalone Pretty Cure movies, it is preceded by Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure Miraculous Transformation Cure Mofurun and followed by Star Twinkle Pretty Cure Wish Upon A Celestial Balladnote .

Tropes:

  • A Day in the Limelight: Of all the Cures, Ciel/Cure Parfait gets the most focus, with her backstory being expanded on and her being the main focus of the conflict.
  • Ambiguously Jewish: Jean-Pierre has a Yiddish surname, Zylberstein, hinting that he may have some Jewish heritage.
  • Art Shift: The opening short is animated in CGI, while the film proper is 2D animated.
  • Audience Participation: As is tradition for Pretty Cure movies, the audience members are given Miracle Light wands, and the characters break the fourth wall to encourage them to use them during the movie.
  • Big Bad: Cook, a manipulative fairy who brainwashes Jean-Pierre and puts a curse on Ciel.
  • Blessed with Suck: Unlike the others, Akira is transformed into a lobster. While not slow or lazy like the others’ animal transformations, she’s only able to walk sideways.
  • Crossover: The cast of Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure appear investigating and eventually lend their aid in the final fight.
  • Forced Transformation: Noting that their Animal Motifs give them an edge, Cook gives each of the Cures different ones.
    • Whip goes from a rabbit to a turtle.
    • Custard changes from a squirrel to a penguin.
    • Gelato’s lion becomes a sloth.
    • Macaron swaps out a cat for a panda.
    • And finally, Chocolat goes from a dog to a lobster.
  • Rainbow Puke: One scene has Kirarin and Pikario barfing rainbow sparkles.
  • Red/Green Contrast: The Pink Heroine Cure Whip is given a green turtle costume to wear.
  • Shapeshifter Mode Lock: Ciel gets trapped in her fairy form for much of the movie.
