Can Perfect Pitch Hear the Solution to this Mystery? note

"Someone who fears those with perfect pitch…must be one with perfect pitch himself."
Conan Edogawa

Detective Conan: Full Score of Fear is the 12th Detective Conan Theatrical Film in the franchise. It was directed by Yasuichiro Yamamoto, written and produced by Kazunari Kouchi, and scored by Katsuo Ono, Masakazu Yokoyama, Aki Yokoyama and Keiko Urakami. It was released on April 19, 2008.

Serial murders involving all kinds have happened. All the victims are from a Music School led by a famous pianist, Kazuki Domoto. Conan and company have been invited to a opening concert of the Music Hall built by Domoto. The biggest attraction of this concert is the world famous violin called "Stradivarius" and a special appearance of a singer who has perfect pitch.

Full Score of Fear provides examples of:

  • Actionized Sequel: Inverted. Compared to the previous movie, this film is rather slow and methodical from start to finish.
  • Advertised Extra: In the film proper, despite appearing prominently on the poster, Middle school aged Shin’ichi and Ran only really have one scene (and no real lines), though said scene is ultimately very important to the plot.
  • Big Bad: Despite the numerous Red Herrings, the culprit turns out to be Takumi Fuwa, Kazuki Domoto’s tuner and best friend.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Fuwa fell into this when Domoto asked him to be director and his wife and son died.
  • Deuteragonist: Over the course of the film, Reiko Akiba becomes this, eventually working side by side with Conan to crack the case.
  • Red Herring: Four actually, composer and organist Domoto, soprano Rara Chigusa, violinist Shinon Yamane and Reiko Akiba. Akiba’s likelihood increases once the audience learns about her fiancé, but the true culprit turns out to be none of these four.
  • Tragic Villain: Fuwa loses his job as Domoto’s tuner in actuality because his ears were going bad despite his perfect pitch and his wife and son died.
