Will Japan’s greatest minds be able to crack this case?note

Suehiko Itoh: Kudo-kun and Hattori-kun…you two are the absolute best…detectives.
Conan Edogawa: And you are the absolute worst person.

Detective Conan: The Private Eyes’ Requiem is the 10th Detective Conan Theatrical Film in the franchise. It was directed by Yasuichiro Yamamoto, written by Hiroshi Kashiwabara, produced by both Masahito Yoshioka and Michihiko Suwa and scored by Katsuo Ono. It was released on April 15, 2006.

Some unknown man who knows Conan is in fact Shin’ichi Kudo lures Conan and the others (Kogoro and Ran Mouri, The Detective Boys...) to Yokohama. This man takes Ran and the Detective Boys as hostages. He gives Conan a 12 hour time limit in which to solve a case. If it is not solved within that time, bombs attached to the hostages will explode.... To thwart this villain Conan is aided by Heiji Hattori, Kaitou Kid and Sagaru Hakuba.

The Private Eyes’ Requiem provides examples of:

  • Accidental Hero: While looking for Ran, Sonoko shoves a man she believed to be rude, unknowingly defusing a dangerous hostage situation.
  • Big Bad: While Suehiko Itoh kickstarts the plot by being the one who took everyone hostage and attached bombs to their wrists, the murderer and instigator of the events in the film is really Reiko Shimizu.
  • Explosive Leash: Most major characters in the movie receive V.I.P wristwatches-which are also loaded with plastic explosives.
  • The Friends Who Never Hang: When Ran and Kazuha visit the fever-stricken Haibara in the hospital, Kazuha notes that they have never really talked before-despite both of them being major characters for 400+ episodes.
  • Humiliation Conga: A petty thief really chose the wrong night to steal. While fleeing, a broom thrown by Mitsuhiko trips him, he is walloped by Ran and dealt with by Kazuha. He takes Ayumi hostage, but he is foiled by an oblivious Sonoko. And then when he tries to take Detective Miwako Sato hostage, he receives a suplex for his troubles.
  • Prolonged Prologue: In a rare move, thirteen minutes pass before the title screen opens.
  • Race Against the Clock: Conan and co must solve the mystery before 10 pm, lest everyone strapped with the bomb, including themselves will die.
