Captured In Her Eyes provides examples of:

  • Amnesiac Lover: Ran spends most of the film as a mix of The Ophelia and this to Shinichi/Conan due to Trauma-Induced Amnesia. She recovers towards the end, however.
  • Big Bad: The police killer turns out to be psychiatrist Kyosuke Kazato. After murdering the man who ended his career as a surgeon, he then kept on killing every police officer investigating his ex-colleague's death to cover his tracks.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For the Beika City Police Officers, due to the main antagonist targeting them.
  • Call-Back: Once again, Conan ends up doing something to Ran that Kogoro did to Eri in the past. He didn't mean it this time though, and upon learning Kogoro did the exact same thing he reacts in total embarassment.
  • History Repeats: As in the second movie, a similar situation occurs with Eri, Ran and their respective loves of their lives.
  • Internal Affairs: In this movie's jargon, "need not to know" is a phrase to brand a case as such.
  • It's All My Fault: Ran feels extensive guilt for Sato being shot, to the point that she loses her memories from the shock.
  • Love Confession: In the finale, Shin’ichi confesses his love to Ran. However, he is Conan at the time, so while she’s flattered, she thinks he only said the words Kogoro said to Eri just to bring her memory back.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Once Ran’s memories return, she absolutely opens a can of whoop-ass on the culprit when he attempts to kill Conan.
  • The Ophelia: Ran spends a good part of the movie, as one due to a bad case of Trauma-Induced Amnesia. She recovers towards the end, however.
  • She’s Back: Once Ran’s memories return, she regains use of her karate skills and easily takes care of the culprit.
  • Trauma-Induced Amnesia: Ran loses her memories from shock when the culprit shoots Sato right in front of her.
