->''The girls - and their panties - are back!''
--> -- Tagline on a trailer for one of the {{OVA}}s

''Agent Aika'' (or ''[=AIKa=]'') is both the Ultimate PantyShot Vehicle and definitive proof that MostWritersAreMale. There is also some plot - and it's surprisingly amusing.

TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture, the Earth has been ruined due to global warming; lots of places are now submerged deep under the sea. Enter Aika Sumeragi, a beautiful woman who works as a "Salvager" (scuba-divers hunting for valuables under the water) in a little family-owned company managed by the father-daughter team of Gonzo and Rion Aida. Since Gonzo's policy of good service for a low price manages to drive the company to bankruptcy, he decides to accept a high-paying mission: finding a material named [[MacGuffin Lagu]] ([[SpellMyNameWithAnS known in the Latin American subtitles as "Ragg"]]).

After recovering the Lagu, Aika and Rion are captured by an oversexed WhiteHairBlackHeart man named Hagen, who wants the Lagu so that he can bring about TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt and repopulate the planet with his own descendants; to that end, he has created [[BodyguardBabes an army of scantily-clad and skilled women called the Delmo]].

Aika has a secret, though: when she was younger, she was the victim of some nasty experiments, and as a result, she possesses a [[EmpathicWeapon Super]] [[OfCorsetsSexy Corset]] that transforms her into a super-powered version of herself (that is all but naked). When Hagen discovers Aika's secret, he thinks she will do fine in his harem. After Aika rejects the prospect, she takes it upon herself to find a way to defeat Hagen, his even more disturbing sister, and his entire army; with the help of Rion, Gust (a salvager who has a crush on Aika), and the enigmatic spy Miss Maypia, Aika ends up saving the world and stopping Hagen's plans.

That's what happens in the first four {{OVA}} episodes; after these episodes proved popular, three more were created to capitalize on the success. [[spoiler:In the last three episodes, the Delmo army—deprived of any reason for existence following Hagen's death—turn their attention towards Aika. They want to discover her secret and defeat her at all costs, and they will use any method they need—including loli-looking doctors and Bifauxnens—to accomplish the task.]]

There are two [[UnCanceled new series]] of OVA, {{Prequel}}s where Aika is a teenager, called ''[=AIKa=] R-16: Virgin Mission'' and ''[=AIKa ZERO=]''.

''Anime/NajicaBlitzTactics'' -- by the same director of ''Aika''/''[=AIKa=] 16'' (Katsuhiko Nishijima) and the same studio behind all of the ''Aika'' [=OVAs=] (Fantasia) -- has totally different characters and a wholly different plot, but for the most part displays the same level of FanService that ''Aika'' does.

* AloofAlly: Maypia Alexymetalia
* AppliedPhlebotinum: "Ultranate" (what Aika's special corset is made of).
* AmbiguouslyGay: Pretty much every female character with a few exceptions,
** Nina who is ''obviously'' straight... for her brother, though she is not adverse to acting sexual to her minons.
** The two leader white Delmos who are ''obviously'' [[LipstickLesbian in a relationship together]].
** Other than that, characters like Rion (towards Aika) are pretty ambiguous. The OVA's then have Eri who is obviously gay, but may be in the closet, toward Karen-senpai who herself is very ambiguous. Then there is pretty much every bad girl in the second OVA except the BigBad and TheDragon who are obviously into each other.
** In a somewhat surprising aversion for a fanservice series, Aika makes unambiguously clear she is not atracted by girls with her reaction to [[spoiler:Pierre Valimore]] (a.k.a. Valarie) and to Eri's antics in the [=OVAs'=]
* AntiVillain: With exception to Nina and Hagen, pretty much everyone else isn't really a bad guy, especially in the OVA's.
* BadassNormal: Rion, Gust
* BetweenMyLegs: This shot is often employed for easy [[PantyShot upskirt shots]].
* {{Bifauxnen}}: A few Delmos plus one in particular.
* {{BioAugmentation}}: What Aika's transformation is.
* BodyguardBabes: The Delmos. The ova's have them too but they're just mind controled school girls.
* BodyHorror: Nina got it after trying to use the reproduced Aika's nanomachine enhancement.
* BrattyTeenageDaughter: Rion
* BridgeBunnies: The bridge of Hagen's battleship is manned by White Delmos.
* BrotherSisterIncest: Rudolf and Nina.
* CatFight: Many times, but especially when Aika vs Rie.
* CherryTapping: One mook gets knocked out after being hit on the head with an orange in Virgin Mission.
* ColourCodedCharacters: '''Black''' Delmo are [[CannonFodder lowly]] [[{{Mooks}} foot soldiers]] and menial administrators of Hagen's/the Delmogeny's battleship and outposts, the '''Blues''' are [[EliteMooks highly-trained assault troops and guards]], the '''Pinks''' are [[WrenchWench mechanics]], technicians and heavy-ordnance operators, the '''Goldens''' are a post-Hagen [[QuirkyMinibossSquad special-ops task force]], while the '''Whites''' are the [[AsskickingEqualsAuthority top-ranking commanders]] (second only to Hagen himself and his sister and second-in-command, Neena), Hagen's [[PraetorianGuard closest personal bodyguards]], and (probably out of trust in their UndyingLoyalty) also serve as the BridgeBunnies for Hagen's battleship.
* CombatTentacles: One of the Ultranate's powers.
* CoolBigSis: Aika to Rion.
* DangerouslyShortSkirt
* DisneyDeath: Aika appears to have died in an explosion in the original series and in the OVA, Aika Zero, the BigBad looks to have died [[HeroicSacrifice saving her Dragon]], but both are fine later.
* DressingAsTheEnemy: Rion and Maypia does this, but so does [[WholesomeCrossdresser Michikusa]] who just think the Delmo outfit is cute.
* DullSurprise: Hagen tends to react to everything with a monotone "What?" in the English dub.
* EasilyForgiven: [[spoiler:Despite being one of Aika's first foes, Risako Nagisa still assists Aika, Eri, and Karen in Zero]].
* {{Fanservice}}: Usually in the form of upskirts and revealing clothing.
** Don't forget the nudity.
* FormFittingWardrobe: There's no way these minidresses can get any tighter; bless your perverse lechery, Hagen.
* FourIsDeath: The four Golden Delmos.
* FuroScene: Two of them in the first two episodes of Aika Zero between Aika, Karen and Eri.
* {{Gainaxing}}: Actually not as prevalent as the massive amount of fan service would suggest, PantyShot[='s=] are more the order of the day. The OVA's however do this a lot with Eri and Risako.
* HandsomeLech: Hagen; see PaidHarem.
* HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday: Aika does that in a few ocasions, whenever Eri's antics start to be too much for her.
* HeroicSacrifice: The Big Bad in the Second OVA series, saves her dragon by taking a spear of light up the you-know-what. Luckly, despite it looking otherwise both are fine. and even get a happily ever after.
* ImperialStormtrooperMarksmanshipAcademy: It's doubtful if those Delmo girls have little, if any marksmanship training. Lampshaded once when Bandora commented if they managed to hit something despite their [[{{Pun}} pansy]] marksmanship.
* ImproperlyPlacedFirearms: Those assault rifles the Delmos use appears to be [=StG=]-44 rifles, I wonder why they still use those UsefulNotes/WW2 grade weapons in the future.
** [[WildMassGuessing With all the money they spent on building a starship and all the rest, they had to cut corners somewhere...]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Gust.
* KilledOffForReal: In both series and Ova the only person to expressly die is Hagen, Nina is actually last seen as alive though [[VillainousBreakdown mentally broken]].
* LastEpisodeNewCharacter: Sania and Tonia, the last half of the Golden Delmo is introduced in the final episode.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Rion, after seeing Aika transform for the first time.
-->'''Rion''': "It's wonderful! Like something out of anime!"
* LikesOlderWomen: Gust, even more obvious 10 years earlier
* LipstickLesbian: From the original series there is the two head white delmos, the long green haired one and short gray haired one, and the second OVA has the big bad and her dragon. Eri from the OVA's and Rion from the Original's are this but the object of their affections, Karen-sempai and Aika, are AmbiguouslyGay and not at all, respectively.
* MarketBasedTitle that develops into TitleConfusion: The original title in Japanese is just ''[=AIKa=]'' (yep, that's how it's romanized), but for the English market it was retitled "Agent Aika", which is weird since Aika is not described as an "agent" of any sort.
** This probably comes from the fact that the ''first'' episode of the OVA is titled "Beautiful Agent". (Yes, "[[GratuitousEnglish eejiento]]" in katakana.)
* MeaningfulName: "Delmo" (romanji ''Derumo'') is an anagram of "model" (romanji ''moderu''), as in "fashion model". Don't let the initial connotations fool you, however.
* {{Meganekko}}: Rion.
* {{Minionshipping}}: A lot.
* MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate
* {{Mugged for Disguise}}: Rion gets a uniform knocking out a dumb blonde blue delmo, escaping from it easily, leaving the humiliating image of the henchwoman knocked tied up and locked there just in underwear
* NeverTrustATrailer: Among other things, Rion wore Aika's [[MinidressOfPower Corset of Power]] in an official trailer but never in the show itself.
* NoNameGiven: All but one of the White Delmos are not given name at all, and the one given name is not the leader.
* TheNudifier: Aika's transformed outfit isn't just revealing; the AppliedPhlebotinum it's made of ({{Nanomachines}}?) removes all of her regular clothes before transforming her. Check [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfoJxdY0rGc&feature=related this]] at 22:50.
* OmnicidalManiac: Hagen with his ''Film/{{Moonraker}}''-esque scheme of using the Lagu to purge humanity so that he and the Delmo can reign over it.
* OverTheShoulderCarry: Yet another way of ensuring a PantyShot.
* PaidHarem: Hagen wants to "cleanse the world from the unworthy" using the Lagu, and "repopulate it with the Delmos' assistance", and he offers the captive Rion a chance to "help" him in this endeavour. Needless to say, she tells him in no uncertain terms that she does '''not''' appreciate the "offer" at all. [[ClusterFBomb With a good deal of unladylike swearing and cursing]].
* PantyFighter: Probably the Ur-example.
* PantyShot: Do NOT make a drinking game out of panty shots if you are adverse to alcohol poisoning.
** Hagen deliberately has the Captain's chair on his ship's bridge on a considerably lower elevation than the rest of the room, to give a perfect view of every single passing Delmo's underwear.
** WebVideo/BennettTheSage's ''Anime Abandon'' review on the anime made a counting gag out of this, where THE FINAL COUNT IS 175 SCENES FEATURING PANTY SHOTS.
* PetTheDog: Hagen has one in the second OVA, after capturing The BigBad and Dragon, the end credits show he eventually let them go after studying their abilities and they are shown happily living together.
* PhlebotinumBreakdown: Aika's transformed state has its' limits, and will revert to corset-form to recharge when it's energy is depleted. This can take hours or days, depending on the energy drain. If it's ''really'' low on energy, it will compress into a small black ball.
* PictureDrama
* QuirkyMinibossSquad: The four Golden Delmos, maybe also all White Delmos as well who are supposedly their leaders though they attack Aika in a way of ZergRush rather than skill.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: The Delmo's motives after [[spoiler: destruction of the lagu and death of Rudolf Hagen]]
** Eventually the Delmos leaders decide after Aika has defeated all their best fighters at the same time, that revenge isn't worth it seeing their comrades hurt.
* SentientPhlebotinum: It certainly seems to have a mind of its' own at times. Aika is definitely more agressive and violent when transformed.
* ShesGotLegs: Everyone.
* ShowerScene
* SomethingCompletelyDifferent: The "Special"
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The Latin American subtitling aired in Locomotion had Aika looking for the "Ragg".
* StalkerWithACrush: Gust, no really, he is a good guy
* StatesOfPhlebotinum: Changes from solid (corset) to semi-liquid (mid-transformation), and back to solid again (fully-transformed). Then Aika can make it extrude CombatTentacles for attack or defense, or anything else she needs, like [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfoJxdY0rGc&feature=related helping to restart a jet engine in mid-air]] (jump ahead to 22:50).
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Justified in the case of the Delmo girls, since Hagen wanted his army that way. Other characters don't have such an excuse.
** Literally, in Aika's case, since before transforming her, the AppliedPhlebotinum will first remove (not tear off!) all of Aika's regular clothing.
* SympathyForTheDevil: Aika and Rion are both saddened when Nina's nanites start to go hay wire and destroy her body, unfortunately at that point they can't do anything to help her.
* TokenMiniMoe: One of the [[spoiler:clones of Karen]] in the ''R-16'' OVA. Tiny. Adorable. Homicidal. Rie the gold delmo in the original.
* ThouShaltNotKill: Aika only knocks her opponents out, while she may be rather brutal about it, for the most part her enemies will be fine when they wake up.
* UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans: Hagen's motive.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Eri and Aika in the Ova's.
* WhatMeasureIsAMook: Averted and defied. The Delmos Commander takes proper steps to ensure proper full evacuation of her crew [[spoiler:twice]]. Also, her motivation for taking revenge [[spoiler:as well as the motivation of Valarie to act as "Pierre Valimore"]] is to avenge the Delmos mooks that got pretty mauled in the previous battle.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Transformed Aika. She also has AmbiguouslyBrown skin.
