Krut: The Himmaphan Warriors is a 2018 Thai Animated Fantasy film.

When the Raksod make an attempt at Global Domination, targeting the Garuda kingdom of Ayothaya as well, the Garuda, led by General Watchara, forge an alliance with the Himmaphan warriors to protect themselves.

A video game based on the movie, titled Krut: The Mythic Wings, was released in 2022 by Blowfish Studios.


Tropes of Ayothaya:

  • A Father to His Men: General Watchara is an officer who cares about his men, and is willing to fight alongside them to defend their country.
  • Ax-Crazy: The Raksod are generally portrayed as vicious and bloodthirsty.
  • Blood Knight: The Raksod are portrayed as excelling at and enjoying combat.
  • Breath Weapon: The Raksod can breathe fire and use said ability in combat.
  • Bird People: The Garuda have human limbs and eagle heads.
  • Cat Folk: The Norsinga are human-lion hybrids.
  • Capital Offensive: The Raksod invade the capital of Ayothaya and massacre both military and civilians alike.
  • Dramatic Irony: Pa'chai messenger sent to warn the Ayothaya Minister of Defence of the Raksod invasion refuses to back down when he is told that he is prohibited from entry until dawn. The morning after Pa'chai is defeated, General Watchara arrives and discovers that the news of the invasion did not make it to the Minister. This is because the Minister himself is a Raksod who transformed himself into a Garuda.
  • Evil Overlord: The Raksod King is a vicious tyrant and warmonger with aspirations of global domination.
  • Four-Star Badass: General Watchara is a high ranking soldier and highly competent combatant.
  • Frontline General: General Watchara, despite his high rank in the Ayothaya military, is directly involved in combat.
  • Mole in Charge: The Defence Minister is actually a Raksod Commander known as the "Black Giant" masquerading as a Garuda.
  • Noble Bird of Prey: The raptor-like Garuda are generally portrayed as honorable warriors, especially in comparison to the Raksod.
  • Now That's Using Your Teeth!: A Raksod leader catches a Garuda guard's throwing knives with his teeth.
  • Mature Animal Story: The film may have talking anthropomorphic animals, but it is centred on a bloody conflict and is not intended for children.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters:
    • The Kachazri are half-lion, half elephant.
    • The Norsinga are half-lion, half human.
    • The Kanara and Garuda are respectively humanoids with avian attributes, with the Kanara looking more human, and the Garuda looking more avian.
  • Our Giants Are Bigger: The Raksod are hairless, lumbering, humanoid creatures with a penchant for warfare and breathe fire.
  • Proud Warrior Race Guy: The Garuda and their allies are generally exceptional warriors who have a code of honour.
  • Take Over the World: The Raksod King aspires towards conquering the entire known earth.
  • Tyrant Takes the Helm: The Defence Minister of Ayothaya poisons the King and hijacks his authority by forging his seal to appoint himself Supreme Commander, before trying to sabotage any attempt to defend Ayothaya from the Raksod invasion. After revealing himself to be the Raksod Commander, he has the previous King imprisoned and the populace enslaved on behalf of his master, the Raksod king.
  • Winged Humanoid: The Garuda are anthropomorphic avian creatures with arms, legs, wings, and a beak.
