With how many characters there are in Luz Clawthorne, there's a good portion that have had their pasts altered.
Spoilers for all known canons will be unmarked. You have been warned!
- Luz was found and adopted by Eda as a baby when Camila died in a car crash rather than meeting Eda in her teens when she stumbled into the Boiling Isles. Hell, the entire Noceda family falls into this;
- Since the story began before parts of the Noceda's home life were revealed in canon, Camila is a healthcare worker instead of a veterinarian and she and Luz were from Minnesota instead of Connecticut. Book Two reveals that Camila and Luz did in fact live in Connecticut, but they moved after Camila's husband Manny died.
- "Thanks to Them" revealed that Manny had a terminal illness that took his life when Luz was a young girl. In LC, he perished in a fire at his workplace not long after Luz had been born.
- Because his parents weren't expecting twins, Dipper was adopted by Stan and send to live in Gravity Falls, where he grew up learning about the town's secrets. And since Stan and Eda are still legally married, he and Mabel are Luz's (and later King's) stepsiblings and Ford is their uncle.
- Vee ended up on Earth under different circumstances; when she came across Luz and Eda in the market, she tried to steal the portal key but Luz and Eda chose to help her and decided to send her to Gravity Falls where she could maintain a human form by absorbing magic from all of its supernatural inhabitants.
- "Any Sport in a Storm" reveals that Hunter has No Social Skills due to rarely interacting with people his own age. Here, he befriended Luz when he was 12 due to regularly sneaking out of the castle, getting along with her friends and entering a relationship with Edric a few months prior to the series.
- The show reveals in "Them's the Breaks, Kid" that Gilbert went to St. Epiderm and studied in the Construction track, Harvey attended Glandus High and was in Abominations and Perry Porter was in the Oracle track at Hexside. Here, the Parks both went to Hexside with Gilbert (Harvey's counterpart) also studying Construction and transfering from Glandus to Hexside and Sully (Gilbert's counterpart) went into Plants and transfering from Epiderm while Perry is a Bard here.
- Philip/Belos and his brother ended up in the Boiling Isles when they were much younger. They were adopted and raised by witches, who are revealed to be the ancestors of the Clawthornes. As a result, Belos didn't grow to have any of his anti-witch bigotry.
- Since Caleb/William is a member of the Clawthorne family, Evelyn (who had been implied to be an ancestor of the Clawthornes) married into the family when she became William's wife.
- Anne, Sasha and Marcy got sent to Amphibia on Anne's 13th birthday because of Marcy's family moving away and her fear of ending up alone driving her to keeping them together living out her dream of having an endless fantasy adventure. Rather than finding the Calamity Box then, they found it when they were 6 and Anne lost it in the woods where she was found by Hop Pop. Each girl was raised by an Amphibian Found Family, King Andrias made Marcy a princess, Anne and Marcy became a couple during the firefly festival, Hop Pop became mayor of Wartwood, and Anne stood up to Sasha and the tax collectors which along with their attempts to hold Marcy for ransom along with killing Hop Pop, led to their falling out with all three girls discovering their Calamity Powers.
- Star Butterfly was sent to Earth to practice her magic in safety while staying with Marco Diaz and his family, all while Ludo repeatedly tried to steal her magic wand. That doesn't happen here: Star was kidnapped by Toffee of Septarsis as a baby and grew up to hate the Butterfly family and all magic users. As such, she never came to Earth before strange creatures laid waste to Mewni, which is now in the Nightmare Realm. Star would later start living off dumpster scraps in Echo Creek for some time while Ludo's locked away in the Conformatorium, both suffering from Sanity Slippage. And then there's this wanted poster of Star that brands her as a traitor to her family
...- Speaking of Marco, he now has a closer friendship with Janna and Jackie Lynn Thomas since he never met Star, not to mention Alfonso and Ferguson both moved away to Greenland.
- There's also Meteora Butterfly/Miss Heinous to add to this specific roster: she isn't sent to St. Olga's School for Wayward Princesses as an infant. Rather, Lord Oberon kidnaps her from her parents and turns her into a Fae.
- The Long Family as a whole has completely shifted as Jonathan finds out the Luongs are dragons thanks to Eda and doesn't forget it, so he is well aware that Jake and Haley inherit dragon forms and sees them grow up to be magic guardians.
- Loona was almost 18 when Blitzo adopted her and he saved her from death at a Hellhound pound. Here, she was six when he saved her from being skinned by Cruella De Vil.
