Thresher suddenly decides that something can be worked out, after all, much to Jane's delight. Thresher wants a personal secretary and asks Jane if she's interested.

Thresher says that it's a full time job, not just for the summer, and Jane would have to quit college (which is the first we hear of her being a student, and not the last time we learn important information about her without any prior indication of it), but says that the tuition support plan allows her to complete her degree at night. He cuts off another thank you by saying that Jane won't have much time for night school due to the amount of travel required for the job, but travel is something Jane happens to like. Thresher points out that it's business and "there's no hanky-panky on this job." Jane's pleased that Thresher's not a perverted boss, and Thresher comments that she has a wild imagination, but decides to save that for later.

Jane is hired, and gets $40,000 a year (quite a lot, especially at the time), but is told to be back and ready to go at 4, since he's spending the weekend at his bachelor pad. He says that the way for her to thank him is to work "as closely together as the dear Lord will permit," and Jane's pleased that Thresher is a religious man. Thresher says he's considering starting a ministry, and considers her an "exciting... I mean inspiring" person.

Meanwhile, in the parking lot, John is still waiting, and greets Jane upon her return, not wanting to leave things to "Fate or that stupid person controlling the story." He launches into a Love Confession, but Jane shoves him away, telling him not to touch her, declaring that she's a professional now that she runs 40 grand a year. She weakly punches him in the face and gets in her car as he lies there.

With another siren, we're back to Harry in the chicken mask, deriding the player for getting Jane together with the wrong man and leaving John "eating asphalt." He condemns the player's matchmaking skills and invites them to see their score after this, resulting in a Laugh Track. Harry tells the player that John wasn't going to offer Jane a job, since "he's pure sleaze," showing a picture of Thresher as he says this (perhaps stronger evidence is the overly generous job package, and the fact that Thresher is essentially inviting Jane to a romantic rendezvous right off the bat). He then gives the player another chance, and a derisive comment that he hopes they're luckier in their love lives than in the story.

BAD END
