Well, I don't know how else to put this, but I'm alive. I don't know how, but I'll just keep on keeping on, I guess.

Anyway, right after I walked out of the room I woke up in, I saw a blue orb in front of me. I went to go look at it, and it changed into the shape of a person in a suit. I found more of these orbs later on and figured out that they're all ghosts. I guess they're the people who died after that Conception thing happened. Anyway, I talked to the ghost in front of me.

"What are you staring at me for?" he said. "Am I that peculiar? Have you been living all your demon life in a cave?"

"Wait, demon? I'm not a demon. I just...happened to grow a horn on my neck and became green and black all over. There are humans who've done that voluntarily, right?" There had to be, world's a weird place.

"Whatever. If you're going to walk around the hospital, let me warn you. You've chosen to walk the path of hardship. You may never again turn your back on your enemies. Keep that in mind."

"Uh, thanks."

I chose this, huh? I suppose I chose to have some creepy blond kid walk up to me and forcefully shove a bug down my eyes? Give me a break, people, I didn't ask for this. Well, I decided to explore more of the hallways. I saw the door Hikawa was sitting in, and saw a strange red sign on it. It was an imprint with...something in the center of it. I think it was the same cylinder thing Hikawa had been sitting in front of when I talked with him. Maybe this room is important, I thought. So I took a quick look inside.

Well, to both of our surprises, I saw a long-haired man holding a hat in his hand studying the cylinder. It was Hijiri.

"Whos there?!" he said, startled.

"Just me, Hijiri." How'd he get here? I thought. I guess he made it into the hospital before the Conception happened and survived.

"Just you? Wait a minute...aren't you the kid I met at the park?"

"The one and only."

"What happened to you...?"

"I'm not quite sure myself, to be honest."

"Well, at least you still think like a human."

"Oh, so what. Any time someone looks different they're suddenly a demon? I haven't changed, Hijiri. I don't feel that way, anyway."

"I sure hope you're right. So...what the hell is going on? All of a sudden, I was blinded by a bright light, and the next thing I knew, I was in this room. I took a quick look around, and it looks like I'm in a hospital..."

"I think you made it to where you wanted to go. This is the Shinjuku Medical Center."

"I see...Anyway, as much as I want to know what's going on out there, I don't think it's safe for me to walk around."

"Well, I saw a couple ghost hanging around here, but I didn't see any immediate threat."

"No...just outside this hallway, I came across some."

"Uh, some what?" I was afraid of what the answer would be.

"Well, they're definitely not human. My guess is that they're...demons."

"Oh, great. My people, I see."

"I don't think the police will be able to help us here."

"Even if they were alive, I doubt they'd help."

"If they were alive...Damn, I might have to seriously consider the possibility. It's hard to believe, but if this is Shinjuku Medical Center, then I can't just rule it out. The Conception...could have occurred for real."

"It did. I was with the two people that caused it when it happened, unfortunately."

"I see...anyways, I think I've seen this barrel-like object before." He turned to the cylinder. "If my memory serves me right, it belongs to a man named Hikawa. He must have something to do with all of this."

I figured he wanted to get to the bottom of this on his own, so I just let him be and didn't mention my whole experience.

Hijiri turned back to me. "Standing here talking won't get us anywhere. If you're strong enough to fight those demons, then will you gather information for me? I tried talking to one of those ghosts, but I didn't have much luck."

"Sure, I don't have much to do after being knocked out cold. Might as well get to the bottom of this whole Conception business."

"Great. What's happened to the world...? Are there other humans out there...? We can only learn the answers to these questions by finding somebody else. I wish I could do it myself, but I don't think I'd last very long against those demons."

"You say that as if I have more of a chance."

"Frankly it doesn't look like just your looks have changed. I think you might have gained strength after your stint of being unconscious. You probably have a better chance of fighting than me. Besides, I'd like to spend more time studying this object."

"Alright, leave the dirty work to me, I guess."

"Good. I'm counting on you."

Before I left the room, though, I decided to touch the cylinder. I don't know what exactly it was that I saw, but I think it was...records of some kind. I found out later by talking to some of the ghosts that I can use this to come back to life if I ever die for some reason, but only right at that point of me touching the cylinder. It's a good thing, too. I need that crutch if I live through this Conception. I saved at the cylinder, then headed out of the room.

I noticed a couple of things as I left the room. For one, I felt the presence of that light that I saw before still in the air. It's like I can feel it changing as I move along. I changes in phases similar to the moon, so from here on out I will use similar terms to describe it. The other thing is that I could use this journal I found to create a map for myself as I explore the hospital. I don't want to get lost and all, so I'm going to search as much of the place as I can.

I started by going back into that creepy occult room from before. I saw a ghost on top of the bed.

"What does a demon, like you, want? I'll heal your wounds, so please don't eat me!"

"I'm not going to eat you, don't worry. Though I do appreciate the healing."

"Thank you. I'll heal your wounds anytime, so don't eat me, please."

"Okay..."

I'm still getting used to this whole demon thing, as you can see. I decided that if no one was going to really treat me as a human I would get out of this hospital as soon as I can. But as soon as I entered the elevator, something really weird happened.

I felt a little dizzy, and then suddenly I found myself looking at a strange hallway. It had a gigantic circular wall, and it was filled with this red stuff floating everywhere. Near the end of the hallway was a pool of some type of liquid, but it defintitely wasn't water. I looked in that direction, and suddenly two beings appeared in that pool. One was an old man in a wheelchair holding a can, and the other was a young woman in a black dress wearing a veil. I assumed she was his caretaker. I heard a voice

"Come...Show me...the strength...of a demon..."

I was afraid of what he meant, but there was no other way I could go. I walked into the pool of water, and suddenly something attacked me. I guess they were the demons Hijiri was talking about.

These things were purplish beings that had skull shapes surrounding them. I read about them in a book once, I think. They're called Will-o-Wisps. They're spirits that look like lights that you see in forests, bogs, and swamps.

"ME WanT EAt..."

One suddenly attacked me, so I panicked and dodged. I figured the only thing I could do was counterattack.

"mE EAt..."

It cried and surrounded itself in a purple light. It started to look like it was moving faster. The other demon started to do something.

"MaGatSUHi..."

It sent out a wave of energy of some kind, and I felt my energy being drained. Since I didn't have much I could do, I just attacked again. It killed one of the Wisps, thankfully.

The other demon ran into me to attack me. It didn't hurt much, surprisingly, but I didn't want to take a chance. I fought right back with all the strength I could muster. It drained my energy once again, but then we went straight back to exchanging attacks. As one of my attacks missed, I found myself off balance, and got hit by the demon's draining attack again. I charged my strength as hard as I could, and attacked again. That one really seemed to hurt the wisp, as it reeled back in pain and was knocked dead.

After the battle, I felt strange. It was as if I had leveled up in an RPG or something like that. I concentrated my newfound power on my arms to give me strength. Suddenly I felt something inside me. I think it was that bug the child put down my body. I felt like I could stop it, but I decided to see what would happen if I let it do its thing. Turns out that was a good idea, as I healed completely. No need to go to the scared healer again.

Before I entered further, I turned to my right and saw a strange cube. I noticed that I could open it up, and figured there must be something inside it. I opened it, and found some leftover medicine from the hospital. Just in case, I guess. I moved closer tot eh entrance, and suddenly I was attacked again.

This time the demon was a small bipedal creature that had talismans hanging from its ears. It moved in rather goofy movements, and was almost cute in a way. But I knew I couldn't underestimate it, as I recognized what it was right after. It was a Preta, a hungry demon that is the reincarnation of a greedy or corrupt human due to negative karma. I didn't want to be eaten, so I attacked it the first chance I got. It came back and scratched me with its claws. Those claws hurt, let me tell you. I couldn't take too many of those. I attacked again, and it tried to use its claws again. Luckily, I telegraphed it this time, and was able to dodge it. I hit it one more time, and it was dead. With it out of the way, I entered the circular door and moved on in the room.

I walked into the next hallway, and noticed a split in the path. I saw the old man and lady in black again, and heard a voice.

"This way..."

Feeling like I don't trust them enough, I decided to head the other way. I was attacked by demons, of course. Just my luck.

This time the demons were that Will-o-wisp again and what looked like a floating green doll. It had swirls as its "face" and just flew around the air without much concern for anything around it. I've definitely heard about this thing before. It's called a Kodama, a spirit that lives in the trees around here in Japan. I attacked it, but it was too fast, and it dodged me. They countered, and I felt I was too hurt to try and just attack again. I healed myself with one of the medicine things I found in the cube.

They hit me, I hit back. That continued for a few times until I felt too weak, and I used the second medicine. The Kodama used what appeared to be a wind spell. I think I heard it call out "Zan". It didn't hurt much, thankfully, and I was able to kill it before it tried any other tricks. I then concentrated on the Will-o-wisp. It hurt me a few times, but I was able to kill it before it killed me. I didn't take any chances after that, and went to find a ghost to heal me up. I went back in the direction where I was attacked by the Kodama and Will-o-wisp, and found another cube. I opened it, and found a strange rock. It felt hot, so I guess it's a rock that can cast a fire spell of some kind. That might help later.

I went in the direction that the old man and lady in black wanted me to go, finally, and before I got to the next door I found myself facing two Kodamas.

Not wanting to take any chances, I decided to use that rock. Fireballs came out of it, and I immediately found out that Kodama don't like fire at all. They reeled back in pain, giving me enough time to attack them again. I killed one, the other one attacked, and I killed that one right after. I felt like I had leveled up again, so I used this newfound strength to make me a little faster to increase my agility. As soon as I did, I felt like I had enough in me to try and Lunge at the demons to do more damage to them. It hurts me in the process, but if that's what it takes, so be it.

I walked into the next door, and found myself in a giant room filled with more of that red stuff and surrounding a wooden pedestal in the floor. The old man and lady in black appeared again, and I heard a voice.

"So, you made it...Your strength...is outstanding...We shall meet again...soon..."

And on that unsettling note, the view blurred once again, and I found myself in front of the elevator to the hospital again. Not wanting to take any chances, I touched the cylinder once again to save my records. I will end this log here, as I want to take a bit of a break after that rather panic-inducing encounter. I will explore the rest of this hospital as soon as I'm done.

Ah, I do love the SMT franchise, and this was an astounding game that I have fond memories of. I feel that your entries may be a tad long, but I suppose that as you get further into the game and have more to keep track of, your abilities to summarize will improve. Best of luck with this run, and have a nice day!

This is really cool; keep it up! Nocturne is the game in the main series I'm probably least familiar with. As for ending, from what I know about them I vote Freedom.
