TEG Chapter 9: Taking Out The Traitor

Written By: Thomas
POV: Jerry
Deaths: Mary(1), Thomas Jr.(1)

The author's note at the start of the chapter has him incensed over his account being hacked, and threatening the hacker with Hell for hacking a "prophet."

Jerry, after delivering a sermon that makes no sense, goes to confront the traitor, but then learns from Michael that he is too late, as his wife is pregnant with Percy Jackson's child, not Jerry's, and she is the traitor.

Michael then asks Jerry what to do with Mary, and he immediately orders Michael to have her thrown off a tower, stoned and finally decapitated she is still alive after all that. Jerry does not hold a trial, seek further evidence, ask his wife to explain herself, or even grant her a stay of execution based on her pregnancy that many countries have done in the past, and which the Prayer Warriors grant to those who tried to abort their babies later on. Essentially murdering one's own wife over unproven accusations of adultery is a Moral Event Horizon crossing, and Michael's complicity in the execution sends him over the line as well.

The execution takes place without being described, and the Prayer Warriors pray, until Percy Jackson arrives, with an inexplicably Scottish accent, furious at them over having decided to "kill me wife." Jerry, however, is undeterred, and threatens him with the same fate as Mary unless he converts. Percy refuses, and they fight on the roof of the church until Jerry is disarmed, and for a few moments, it looks like Percy will win. But then Jerry prays for mercy from God, and wants the same mercy for Percy, since he was merely following Satan's orders; an unusual (albeit characteristic of actual Christians) show of compassion that he never did for his own wife.

But regardless of Jerry's motives for doing it, it works, and Percy renounces the Greek gods, as well as declaring that Zeus is not his father(He happens to be correct; Poseidon is), joining the Prayer Warriors and renaming himself Percy of Christ. Armed with this knowledge, and with the "traitor arc" having taken long enough the Prayer Warriors take the fight to the Greek Gods.

A brief author's note follows, saying that people can be saved if they convert, like Percy did. It's surprisingly concise compared to most of them.

Next Installment: Having been converted to Christianity, Percy plans to ensure that his friends follow suit or die by his hand.
