MLLSD Omake 11: Everything's Cuter When Shrunk

Darjeeling and Assam are shocked to see a miniature version of Orange Pekoe sitting on a stool at a table. When Chibi!Pekoe trots over on her stubby legs (which seem to be out of proportion to her body), bows, and, in a cutesy voice, (for example, calling them "-tama" rather than "-sama", they Squee at the cuteness and understand how Nonna feels (Nonna, off-panel, asks if they want something). Chibi!Pekoe apologizes for drinking some of their tea, but Darjeeling and Assam instantly forgive her and offer her all the tea and sweets she wants, as though they're grandmothers admiring the local babies.

Soon, Normal!Pekoe arrives, appearing to recognize Chibi!Pekoe, who greets her as "Pekoe-onee-tama" (oddly enough, Chibi!Pekoe's referring to her cousin by her Black Tea Garden-assigned moniker, rather than her real name). Darjeeling and Assam ask if there's two Pekoes, but the two Speak in Unison, saying no. Normal!Pekoe reveals that Chibi!Pekoe is her young cousin, who loves the school and even imitates Pekoe's hairstyle (which I've noticed looks a great deal like Darjeeling's). Darjeeling says she thought Pekoe shrunk after drinking too much tea, causing Normal!Pekoe to wonder what sort of tea it is. Assam welcomes "Mini Pekoe-chan" to the school, and Normal!Pekoe asks what she means, but Chibi!Pekoe likes the nickname.

Darjeeling asks Chibi!Pekoe a favor- carrying her on her shoulders like Nonna does with Katyusha (characters imitating those two has become a Running Gag). Darjeeling's overjoyed to be able to do this with Chibi!Pekoe, since Normal!Pekoe's already grown up, much to Normal!Pekoe's dismay, while Assam asks to join in too. As Darjeeling enjoys the bliss that "Nonna-san" (she doesn't use honorifics on Nonna in Episode 8, but this does seem a bit more consistent with Darjeeling), Chibi!Pekoe clings to Darjeeling's head and confesses that she's scared of heights, causing Darjeeling to lay on her stomach with Chibi!Pekoe on top of her head. As Assam asks for a turn, Normal!Pekoe thinks that this isn't something she wanted to see.

It all turns out to have been Orange Pekoe's dream, caused after she hit her head on the wall after Darjeeling's attempt at giving her a piggyback ride. As Assam tries to say that she warned Darjeeling, and attempts to get her to give it up, Darjeling insists that it will work out somehow, and tries to fix her posture, but Pekoe slaps her hands over Darjeeling's eyes. As Darjeeling falls and Assam runs over to her, the omake ends, with Chibi-Pekoe showing up one more time, perhaps suggesting that she is, in fact, real.

Unfortunately, the St. Gloriana and Pravda chapters seem to be getting repetitive, furthering my belief that MLLSD is running out of material. It's unfortunate that we don't get to see more of Black Forest, my favorite Gu P school, in this, since it has some of the better chapters.

Next Installment: Virtually the same thing happens at Anzio.
