Der Film Part 6: The Denouement and Alice War

Oarai and its supporters celebrate, and congratulate Miho on her triumphant return. Miho bows to and thanks her allies. Alice rides over on the bear, and offers her the Boko. Alice proposes a rematch without the stakes, and Shiho's amenable to it. Continuance then concludes that tankery covers every life lesson.

The credits song plays, as you see the Ferris Wheel resting where it lay. It then shifts to the docks, with Maho and Miho warmly conversing, before holding hands as the rest of Anglerfish Team looks on. Saunders flies by in their plane, St. Gloriana has tea, and Nonna sings to Katyusha with Klara playing, Maho is smiling as she returns via zeppelin, most of the Chihatan sleeps on the train ride back, and Anchovy's team sings as they ride home in a car. Oarai is in the cruise liner, either sleeping, eating, taking a bath, playing arcade games, or all manner of other things at night. In the restored Boko museum, Alice and the Bermuda trio place the bear from the final battle. The next morning, Oarai sees its carrier whole and waiting for them, and the film concludes.

All in all, the film has a lot more of the same crazy tank battles we know and love, even if it's a bit light on Character Development, and the large cast is spread a bit thin over two hours.

Since this entry turned out a bit short, I'll include Alice War.

After the standard anime opening, it begins with Miho shocked to hear that Alice is joining the school, and Momo notes that Alice is supposed to be in university. Yuzu says that Alice skipped grades, so she never studied in high school (She's a bit reminiscent of Chiyo Mihama, but in that case, Chiyo did all three years of high school). Momo, showinga photo of Alice with the Oarai team (that is, everyone who actually are Oarai students), demands that Miho get Alice into the school by showing off the school's strong points.

Rabbit Team gushes over Alice, wondering if she's a first year (which is understandable, given the inequality in the Senpai/Kōhai dynamic) and Karina's excited to see a New Transfer student, forgetting that their own commander is one. Karina does a self-introduction for Alice, expressing her desire to do tankery and get along with her senpais, and it's a bit of an adjustment for Rabbit Team to see themselves as senpais to her, and relish the chance to use -chan or no honorific rather than -san on her (although it is relatively polite to use-san on younger girls). Momo momentarily deflates their enthusiasm by reminding them that it isn't confirmed, but she isn't even out of earshot before they discuss how to act towards her.

Duck Team ponders what Alice might be interested in, proposing various hybrids of volleyball. Hippo Team's touched that Alice admires them- or more specifically, Miho, and debates which historical figureis her favorite. Mallard Team goes over what rules Alice might break, with Pazomi doing a good Mako impression, ending with "Alice" getting expelled before she even starts. Leopon Team considers what kind of driver Alice is, forgetting that 1)She's underage, and 2)It wasn't her who was driving. Anteater Team suggests that she's a gamer because she's a kid, if only a casual one (finally, a line of reasoning with a modicum of something resembling evidence), and decide to crush her to test whether she's a Sore Loser.

Anglerfish Team is happy that Miho has a fellow Boko fan, but Miho reminds them that it isn't confirmed yet, even if she's enthusiastic about that prospect. Saori wakes up Mako, who, evidently having followed the discussion on at least some level, suggests that kids need nap time. Hana suggests that they need to appeal to her with her school.

Momo gathers the team for suggestions, but clearly makes no promises to seriously consider them. She rejects Rabbit Team's plans to make the uniform cuter because the budget won't allow it, rejects Duck Team's idea for a volleyball tournament without giving a reason, and does the same with Hippo Team's proposal to dress as historical figures. She also shoots down Mallard's idea of making Alice an honorary Morals Committee member (not even knowing that they'd been afraid that she'd be a delinquent), and also denies Leopon and Anteater's requests for 24 hour tournaments in their games of choice, complaining about everyone thinking about themselves. Momo then turns to Miho, who notes that Alice isn't looking for anything special, so she wants everyone to act normal. The Student Council actually likes this idea, and drafts Miho into greeting her.

Unfortunately, Alice gets hauled from her ship onto the Oarai ship on a crane, clearly seasick, since only secondary schools have school carriers- one has to wonder if that includes universities. They then propose a homebrewed Oarai remedy, which makes Alice forget about being seasick. They drive over, but find Anzio has set up shop there. Anchovy tries to recruit Alice with their Italian cooking, but she dislikes the smell, prompting Anchovy to ask "Are you some kind of kid?" and Momo to smugly note that it's too bad for Anzio.

Alice fits into the Oarai uniform, and is given a tour, which includes some of the electives mentioned on the cards. She finds all of them fascinating, but Momo hastily suggests that she stick to tankery, and introduces her to the team. Volleyball Team tries in vain to recruit her to volleyball. Alice barely reacts at all as Hippo Team bestows her with a soul name and Rabbit Team calls her by her first name without honorifics and has her call them senpai. The same goes when Mallard Team shows her the rules, Leopon Team shows them their car, and Anteater Team shows off their increased muscle mass and ranking. Miho offers to take Alice to Oarai's Boko museum, and in the meantime, shows her around and gives her Boko PJs, introducing her to her "Boko Roommates." The next day, Alice is about to accept, but realizes that if she becomes Miho's teammate, she can't fight against her any longer. She then decides to transfer to another school with a smile and a new Boko, as Momo furiously demands that Miho transfer out.

The ending is a version of the anime ending with Alice in her tank.

Final Installment: I'll offer some concluding thoughts on the series.
