Chakwas explains that the slurry the Collectors are turning the colonists into is being pumped into another chamber. There are two routes to this chamber: one has a blast door at the end while the other is filled with seeker swarms.
Fail Shep's plan is as follows: Miranda will create a biotic bubble that will repulse the swarms. Fail Shep, Jacob and Tali will use this bubble to traverse the swarm-corrider. At the same time, Mordin will lead a team through the second corridor. Fail Shep's team will open the blast door for Mordin's team. Grunt will escort Dr. Chakwas and the colonists back to the Normandy.
The plan goes horribly, horribly wrong. Miranda lacks the skill to keep the bubble up long enough and Jacob is carried off by the swarm. Fail Shep manages to open the blast door, but Mordin dies from his wounds. Although Chakwas and the colonists made it back to the Normandy, Grunt had to pull a Heroic Sacrifice to protect them. And even after all of that, a massive army of Collectors is about to attack the chamber the squad is in.
Tali and Samara stay behind to fight off the Collectors while Fail Shep, Miranda and Jack head to stop the Collectors. Fail Shep learns that the Collectors are turning the colonists into a Reaper. It turns out that all Reapers are made from the species the Reapers have exterminated. Fail Shep destroys the injection tubes supporting the Human-Reaper Larva until it falls into the bottomless pit it is positioned over.
Fail Shep prepares to blow up the Collector Base when TIM contacts him and asks him to use a radiation pulse to kill all the Collectors while preserving the base. TIM wants to use the technology from the base to make humanity stronger. Fail Shep decides he'd rather destroy the base. TIM is outraged and asks Miranda to kill Shep, but she refuses.
The Human-Reaper Larva turns out to have survived, so Fail Shep blows its face up. With it's dying throes, the Reaper destroys the platforms the squad is standing on.
Fail Shep wakes up to find Miranda dead. Joker tells him that although Tali died holding the line, Samara has made it back to the ship safe and sound. Fail Shep and Jack run back the Normandy and make it just before the station explodes. Harbinger releases control of the Collector General, who looks around cluelessly for a few second before dying in the explosion.
Back on the Normandy, Fail Shep tells TIM to fuck off. Shepard then looks at eight empty caskets: one for each of the squadmates who fell during the Suicide Mission. Fail Shep, Jack and Samara prepare for the impending Reaper invasion.
