In which we go Tutankamun on a Guardian

Last time we passed the 24 hour mark in terms of game-time by chatting with old people! So without further ado (and no week-or-two long breaks either) let's get back to the action! Or inaction...

Yukari immediately dashes my hopes of going into Tartarus to bust some heads by claiming that she's "sick". I can read your status, young lady, I know when you're faking it! Probably going off to cover up some more leads for the ghost story. I will have my vindication one of these days! I swear it! In the meantime, study and sleep sounds smashing. And yes, I do love alliterations. Some more study later, we find ourselves with nothing to do on Sunday. First things first, let's see what Tanaka has to offer us! We go ahead and snap up some Health Sandals from him and turn off the TV before he can offer us any more amazing deals. I swear that man has a hypnotoad somewhere... Well, let's get his theme tune out of our head with some more Phoenix Ranger Featherman R! High school combat and singing... This game is eerily good at predicting very vaguely what happens in future games. Looks like we just missed the episode, though. Ah well. Time to go bust some Shadow heads!

My aim for this Tartarus run is to a) gain another level to get Pyro Jack and b) get to the second (and last) Guardian of this block on floor 35 or 36. Shouldn't be too hard, really. Mostly the first floor consists of "spam Agi until everything is down, then All-Out Murder it". I really need to get Pyro Jack and Maragi... Ah well, the chests give me plenty of money, so there's that. Anyway, floor 27 gives us a much-deserved level up against some jerk Venus Eagles, so hooray! Our next battle also gives us a DOUBLE UP! Basically, get a card and you get a chance to DOUBLE UP and get steadily better and better stuff. First time it happened to me I had about 3 DOUBLE UPS in one go, so that was fun. This time, though, no such luck. Just Omoikane and some health restoration. I manage to make it up to floor 29 before a crippling lack of SP forces me back to the lobby to run through it again. But hey, at least Junpei and Yukari levelled up, so there's that.

Other than my growing hatred for ice-tables, there really isn't much to slow me down during my escalation of the tower. Kill some shadows, get some loot (including another set of High-cut Armour), rinse and repeat. At around floor 31 Mitsuru starts dropping "subtle" hints that there's something big up ahead. Yeah, yeah, big old boss monster. Working on taking him down, alright? On floor 33 she finally drops the pretence and straight-up tells us that there's a boss on the 36th floor. Meanwhile I work off some excess agression on some laughing tables. Who's laughing now, huh? I hope you get wine stains all over your varnished surface! One excellent case of stress-relief (and some more kindling for the fire) later, it's back to rushing to the top. The final few floors proceed without much difficulty, really. After reaching the boss floor, I head on down to heal up, fuse a certain Persona (Pyro Jack for the curious) and save. Then it's back up to floor 36 to go kill us a boss!

A word of advice for the curious: Always have Yukari set to heal for this guy. He is nasty. Loves to poison you, knows Magarula, has a ton of health. Also a giant sarcophagus. So that's fun. Well, closer to a statue/iron madien combo, but eh, semantics. It's big, hits like a brick wall and has a bunch of HP. So what do I do first? Use Jack Brothers to try and knock him down. It fails completely. Thankfully Junpei manages to get a critical off, knocking it down and saving our bacon for a bit. Of course, it then spams Magarula, causing me to wisely restart the fight.

Attempt two: Goes much better this time. Jack Brothers hits, knocking the coffin down and letting us smack him around a bit. Now, this guy's resistant to magic, so this fight is somewhat... difficult to achieve at times. However, with time and practice we wear him down, letting Junpei and Akihiko score the big hits while Yukari heals and I focus on buffing defence for us all. I have to say, we get pretty lucky with criticals on Akihiko's end, which helped out big time, but this was by no means an easy fight. I was fighting tooth and nail just to keep going at some points. Still, we kill it after a while, gaining a level up, a Queen's Coin, Jack Frost learning Sonic Punch and turning Pulinpa into Panic Boost. O...kay. Anyway, we grab our spoils of victory, grab the stuff from the top of this block, then head back down to the lobby. After handing in my three completed requests (Document, Jack Brothers and Justice) I decide to call it a day. Still, we finally made some headway in this game again, despite its determination to make me hate it! Eat that, sadist game! Anyway, I'll see you all next time, when it hopefully won't take me two weeks to update.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, there. I feel like I was a little under-leveled for that right, really. I'll likely do some grinding in Tartarus in preparation for the next Full Moon.
