Attempting to walk along Route 7's narrow walkwas once again proved painful, but eventually I reached a small house.
Old Lady: "I'm making some vegetable soup! Would you like some?"
I looked into the pot, only to see that her vegetables of choice were grass, oak tree branches, and flower petals.
"N-no thanks!"
Old Lady: "Aww, no need to be polite! Go on, try it!"
"Bye!"
I exited, only to get a call on my Xtransceiver.
"Mom": "GRAAAAAAAAAH!"
"Leave me alone!"
"Mom": "I WILL KILL YOU NEXT TIME I SEE YOU!"
I hung up on her, only for it to ring again.
"Stop calling-"
Old Lady: "You really must try this soup! It's 100% vegetable!"
"How did you get my number?!"
Come to think of it, how did ANYONE get my number?
I hung up again, and proceeded along more walkways where I found both pain and an X-Scissor TM.
Harlequin Pat: "This walkway is the perfect place for a battle, wouldn't you agree?"
"Are you insane?"
Sadly, I had no choice, as he forced me to maintain my balance as I fought him.
"Mamoswi-iiiiiinee!! Use... use Ice Shard! Whoooaaaah!"
His Emolga was struck by the ice crystals.
Harlequin Pat: "Wait, Mamoswine on these walkways?"
As soon as he questioned it, the wooden beam below us snapped, sending us down into the tall grass.
"Oooww...."
Thankful for the distraction at least, I snuck away.
After some more beam walking, I reached an imposing looking mountain in my path.
"Huh..."
???: "Anthony!"
"...No. No. Nono."
Cheren: "You know why I'm here! Glasses or bust!"
Anthony vs. Cheren
Cheren: "Ha! Unfezant against your puny Exeggcute! Looks like I have the type advant- hey, come on! Don't just switch out!"
"Leave me alone!"
Omanyte entered the battle, but sadly ended up falling to a critical hit.
Cheren: "HAHAHAHAHAHA! HAAAAHAHAHA!"
"I still have five against your four."
Cheren: "Shut up."
I sent out Quilava, and after many wasted and pointless turns of Unfezant using Detect or Roost, defeated it.
Cheren: "Fine, but here's Dewott!"
"And here's the Exeggcute you mocked earlier."
Cheren: "Hey, that's not- aww..."
He replaced his fainted Dewott with Simisear, while I switched to Lucario.
Cheren: "Ha, now I have the type advantage again!"
Lucario defeated Simisear with two Bulldozes.
Cheren: "..."
He sent out Liepard last, who was met by Murkrow.
With Liepard lacking much means to attack Murkrow with, it soon fell to Aerial Aces.
"Thank you, random rude Mistraltonian."
Murkrow learned Faint Attack, too!
Cheren: "Nonono! I want new glasses!"
"Maybe you don't even need them."
Cheren: "Maybe next you're going to say Bianca does." I mean, really, can't you just buy me new ones?"
"You'd still harass me, just with clear vision."
Cheren: "So?"
Alder: "That was a fine Pokemon battle! I'm happy to see you are both growing as Trainers!"
We both turned and looked up at the cliff Alder was standing on. He grinned and lept down from the cliff, much to our horror. He landed on the ground, and instead of being reduced to a pile of red chewing gum and jagged bone simply walked from his landing site toward us.
Cheren: "Can you tell this girl to give me my glasses back?"
Alder: "I think you must first promise not to stalk her, no?"
Cheren: "But stalking Anthony is my life! And Bianca's too! You can't expect us to just stop!"
Alder: "Is that really what you wish to do with your life? What will you do, then, if you finally halt Anthony in her tracks?"
Cheren: "I don't know! Go away!"
Alder: "You don't want this HM?"
Alder gave both of us a Surf HM.
"Ooh. Thank you."
Alder: "Think nothing of it. If you wish to evolve that Murkrow of yours, you should be able to find a Dusk Stone in Mistralton Cave. I wish you luck!"
He took off into the sky on his own power, flying above the mountain and back to the Pokemon League. I considered returning to previous areas to do some surf exploration, but figured I'd just do that later or something. I entered Twist Mountain.
The moment I set a toe into the cavern a huge swarm of Boldores, Woobats, and Gurdurrs piled onto me. I could already tell this cavern had a much higher Pokemon population than would be pleasant.
Cheren: "Oh, here you are! This cave just stops here!"
I looked behind him at the smooth, bulged brown wall making a dead end.
"Wait..."
I poked the soft fabric.
Clay: "Eh? Who's there? Oh, is that you two? I reckon y'all are trying to reach the other side of this here cave?"
He took a deep breath before sucking his gut in, miraculously shrinking to the size of a trim human.
Clay: "Bet yer not expectin' that, huh?"
"No... no I was not."
Clay: "Well, go on through. My increased dens'ty like this is straining the ground."
We walked on past Clay, and he promptly relaxed and exhaled, the sudden tidal wave of blubber hitting us both forward. I stood up and stepped out into what looked like a large, open-roofed crater in the mountain.
"Oh, this is nice."
I explored the upper walkway of the crater, while Cheren slid down the slope to the bottom on accident. I soon found myself re-entering the caverns and re-exiting all over the place.
"This is going to get confusing..."
Along the way, a trainer jumped out of a Clay mound at me.
Clay: "Hey, how'd you get in my rolls? Git!"
After more battles, Quilava evolved!
With three fully evolved Pokemon, that left just three more before my team was at full power! I soon reached the bottom of the crater, where Cheren was laying in a heap.
Cheren: "You going to help?"
"No."
I entered a deep part of the cavern, where a large icy rock sat in the middle of the room. Nearby it I found a TM for Flash Cannon, which I taught to Lucario. By the time I got back, Cheren had wandered away, and I soon encountered him and a Plasmoron near the exit.
"Great, two of my least favorite things in one area..."
Plasmoron: "You foolish fools! We have both obtained the foolish power to foolishly change this foolish world and end foolish people's foolish control over foolish Pokemon!"
He ran out laughing, tripping over a pebble and knocking himself out. I exited the cavern, while Cheren stayed to loot the Plasmoron.
Juniper 2: "Hello, Anthony! How is Mamoswine? I BET IT'S QUITE UNHAPPY, LIKE ME. Anyway, have you heard of Dragonspiral Tower?"
"No, I haven't."
Juniper 2: "It is said to be Unova's oldest building. WHICH MEANS IT PROBABLY VIOLATES HUNDREDS OF BUILDING CODES. It is said to be where legendary Pokemon came to life or remain in deep slumber, POSSIBLY FOREVER. Nobody has ever been inside. Which is strange, because the doorway is right there, plainly open. I'm going there now!"
He left, and I stepped forward into Icirrus City.
