Wherein Everything Gets Really Screwed

Now that we're done with the grotto, we may as well head home. Everything that needed to be done is done, all is well in the world, Biggs is still a bit of an arse, but who cares, he's a minor character. Let's get on the airship.

Biggs: How's it feel, Ceodore?

Ceodore: Sir?

Biggs: How's it feel to be a knight?

Ceodore: I... I'm not sure what to say, sir.

Biggs: Of course you aren't. The "Knight's Emblem" is just a name. You risked your life in there to obtain a mummified rat tail.

...Ew.

Biggs: Have you figured it out yet, boy? You don't become a knight just because you obtained the Emblem. Retrieving it was simply a test of your resolve. You've only arrived at the start of your journey. There is yet a long road ahead before you truly belong to the Red Wings.

Ceodore: Yes, sir...

Wedge: Amazing, Prince Ceodore! I can't wait to see you become a paladin and follow in your father's footsteps.

I have a feeling that Wedge got his position through arse kissing.

Ceodore: I haven't made my mind up about becoming a paladin yet.

Wedge: Why not, my lord? With the blood from King Cecil and Queen Rosa, surely you could be...

Soldier: Incoming attack!!!

Biggs: Calm down, soldier! You call yourself a knight of the Red Wings?

Soldier: B-but Captain! We have monsters! Countless swarms of them!

Ceodore: What!? Here they come!

Biggs: Brace yourself, Ceodore!

We get attacked by two Belphegors. Not very threatening, just tedious. Ceodore learns Protect after the battle.

Music: Run!

Well, looks like there were more than just those two monsters.

Biggs: Gah! How can there be so many of them!?

Soldier: Smoke is coming from Baron's direction!

Ceodore: From Baron!?

Biggs: Full speed ahead!

Ceodore heads to look over the edge of the airship.

Wedge: Prince Ceodore!

Music: The Kingdom of Baron

And, change scene to Baron Castle. Hey, it's Cecil and Rosa! Yay!

Soldier: My liege! A large horde of monsters is headed this way!

Cecil: What!?

Rosa: But their numbers were supposed to be dwindling!

Cecil: You stay here, Rosa. (To a soldier) Protect Rosa for me.

Guardsman: Yes, sir!

Rosa: Cecil...

Cecil: Don't worry about me. Just stay right here for me.

Cecil heads out to the middle of the castle.

Cecil: Where are they coming from?

Soldier: We don't know, sir! There's so many of them...

Cecil: All of you, stay on your guard right here.

Soldier: Yes, sir! We'll guard the throne with our lives, sir!

We start to head outside...

Cecil: ...What!?

Ah, crap, a battle. Two Gargoyles. Meh, they're weaker than Belphegors, and Cecil is extremely awesome at the moment, although his speed needs some work.

Cecil: They've already made their way inside the castle!

And because I've wasted so much time transcribing the text, the moon phase changes (every half hour, night at the inn or tent/cottage used, whichever happens first). It's now waxing, so White Magic up, Black Magic down.

Cecil gets attacked again when we head out to the east part of the castle.

Cecil: The castle gate is secured, and yet monsters are within the keep!

Well, you know, the monsters we've seen so far had wings...

We climb the east tower, and find a girl under attack by an Ogre, OK, so they don't all have wings. We kill it.

Girl: King Cecil!

Cecil: Get inside the keep! It's too dangerous here!

Girl: Y-yes, my leige!

Let's go back to the centre. I heal up at a save point on the way, so back to full moon now. Attack down, just what I needed.

We try to head down the now open west path, but a soldier comes out and collapses.

Cecil: Are you okay!?

Soldier: I... I am sorry, my leige!

Monster attack, and the only threatening one so far. Maybe attack down was a good thing after all. We continue on.

Rosa: Cecil!

Cecil: Rosa!

Rosa: I'm coming with you!

Cecil: No, you can't. I will not let you put yourself in danger.

Rosa: That's why I can't let you go alone, Cecil. A white mage by your side would allow you to concentrate in case of a fight, wouldn't it?

Cecil: Fair enough. But I want you to make a promise... If worse comes to worst, I want you to run. Run... and survive.

Rosa: And leave you to die?

Cecil: Yes. For Ceodore's sake!

Rosa: Okay!

She joins us now. We head outside.

Cecil: So that's why! The monsters are coming from the sky...

No shit.

Rosa: Cecil, look! The moon!

We look in the sky... And a second moon appears. All around the world, the heroes of the past and their companions can see it.

Oh shit.

Music: The Lunarians

Cecil: Is that Golbez's...? Why now, of all times?

We continue along, and Cid finds us! Wow, his beard's grown huge.

Cid: You're damn late, Cecil! What've you been doing this while time!?

Rosa: I'm glad to see you safe, Cid.

Cid: Of course I am! I haven't slowed down that much, you know! What I'd like to know, though, is where these monsters came from outta the blue!

Cecil: I wish I knew...

Cid: Where's Ceodore?

Cecil: He's on an expedition with the Red Wings to obtain the Knight's Emblem...

Cid: He ain't back yet!?

Cecil: No need to worry. Biggs is there to take care of him.

Cid: Well, then I'd guess we'd better do something about this place ourselves! Wouldn't want to spoil the celebration banquet.

Cid joins.

No free heal for us from Cecil's Bedchamber... But there are three beds. Look, Cecil, I know this castle only has one bedroom, but it's not the best idea to have your 15 year old son sleep right next to you and your wife.

We head to the northern part of the castle, where there's another save point, and heal. Let's head to the top of the castle.

Cecil: The castle gate has not been breached...

Cid: That means they must have flown in!

Rosa: Here they come!

A battle with two Belphegors. We'll use this opportunity to learn a couple of Bands. Cecil's Attack plus Rosa's White Magic gives Holy Blade, a holy elemental attack, and Cecil's Attack plus Cid's Analyze gives Machine Break, which does extra damage to machines.

Cid: Cecil! These guys are like nothing we've fought before!

No, the problem is that you guys managed to drop to level 15.

Another battle occurs, with an Ahriman and 3 Spirits. The Ahriman, of course, spams Doom. Screw Doom. And unlike FFIV, the counter is actually affected by your speed, so the Haste spam afterwards doesn't help.

Rosa: There's just no end to this!

Another battle with something called Strato Avis. Well, that's a new enemy. I think. It spams Tornado. Ugh. It's also an HP wall, so yay for first hard fight of the game?

Cecil: Cid, I've got a favor to ask.

Cid: I'm listening.

Cecil: I want you to take Rosa and get out of the castle.

Rosa: Cecil!?

Cecil: Baron will fall before long if this continues...

Rosa: Cecil!

Cid: ...Planning to go down with the ship?

Rosa: I'm staying with you!

Cecil: These are the king's orders, Rosa. Take care of Ceodore!

Rosa: ...

Cid: Ah, brother... He always has to be so darn stubborn.

Cecil: I'm counting on you, Cid. Please...

Cid: Leave it to me! Just make sure you don't get yourself killed, got it?

Rosa: Cecil!

Just get outta here already! The two leave.

Cecil: Rosa... Ceodore's in your hands now, my dear!

Cecil looks up.

Cecil: !

Music: The Mysterious Girl

Bahamut flies down from the moon. Wait, what? What's going on?

Cecil: Bahamut!?

There's a girl riding Bahamut? What?

Cecil: Rydia! Wait... no...

Mysterious Girl: So you're Cecil...

Cecil: You know who I am?

Bahamut attacks us. WHAT!? And shit, we don't have anything we can use to reflect his attacks. May as well wait for Megaflare, then.

It goes off, and Cecil gets KO'd.

Mysterious Girl: So this is the limit of a half-breed. As expected...

Back to the airship Ceodore's on. ...Okay.

Ceodore: This feeling... It couldn't be that my father...!?

Biggs: Maximum speed! I don't care if we blow the engine to pieces!

Soldier: We're already above maximum output, Captain!

Ceodore: We... we've gone off course!

Soldier: Critical damage to the right wing! We've lost control!

Ceodore: Aaagh!

Ceodore falls down.

Wedge: Prince Ceodore!

Biggs: !

Oh shit, we're crashing!

Cut to... The Feymarch? Rydia, Queen Asura and King Leviathan are there.

Eidolon King: !

Rydia: What is it?

Eidolon King: No... My dear Rydia, you must leave here at once.

Rydia: What? Why all of a sudden!?

Queen: There is nothing to fear.

Rydia: !

She gets teleported away.

Eidolon King: What do you want?

Music: Suspicion

The Mysterious Girl comes in. Huh?

Mysterious Girl: Your power. I am here to take it.

Queen: We'll see about that.

Mysterious Girl: Bahamut is already under our control.

Eidolon King: The Hallowed Father of the Eidolons! Who are you?

The girl casts something.

Eidolon King: !

The two Eidolons turn to stone. Then we cut to Eblan... Edge is standing at the top of the castle.

Edge: The Tower of Babil! It's back...

I told you guys last LP to tear that thing down, but no, you didn't. And now things are completely messed up again. Now onto the Dwarven Castle.

Dwarf: King Giott! The Tower of Babil! It's...!

King Giott: What!?

Back to the airship. It's crashed.

Ceodore: Oof... ugh...

Looks like Ceodore's the only one still alive. And... Biggs landed on him? I guess it's something else but, well, sprite limitations.

Ceodore: What!? Captain Biggs! Captain Biggs... You put your life on the line for me... If I... if I was more of a soldier, you wouldn't be like this right now...

We try talking to all of the soldiers, but no response.

Ceodore: They're dead... all of them.

Biggs: Errgh... ugh...

Ceodore: Huh?

Music: Cry in Sorrow

Biggs: Prince Ceodore... you're unharmed... aren't you?

Ceodore: Stop talking! I'll go find somebody to help! Help! Anyone!

Biggs: Sorry... I couldn't get you back to Baron safely... my prince...

Ceodore: Captain... Biggs...

Biggs: Now go... hurry... away from here...

Ceodore: I can't do that, Captain Biggs! I... I'm still just a squire! You can't expect me to - I can't do it on my own!

Biggs: Just a squire?

Cut back to... the opening of FFIV.

Biggs: We are the Red Wings! The pride of Baron! Must we now be thieves, sent to plunder from the weak?

Wait, wait, wait. This is the PSP version. It comes on a disc that includes the original FFIV. And instead of using that script, they use the DS version??? Excuse me for a minute, I must go Facepalm.

Cecil: Enough.

Wedge: But, Captain! The Mysidians offered no resistance! And still we cut them down.

Back to the present. Okay... this better be going somewhere.

Biggs: Ceodore... listen to me... You must return... to our beloved Baron... no matter the cost. This... is my final order...

Ceodore: Y-yes, sir!

Biggs: Good... That's what it means to be... a knight of the Red Wings...

Ceodore: Yes, sir!

Biggs: You are the last... of the Red Wings, Ceodore... We, the Red Wings... are the greatest airship fleet in the skies... the pride of Baron! My orders... are the law... to you...

Ceodore: ! I, Ceodore, of the Red Wings of Baron... ...will now return to Baron, sir!

Well, next time... we find out where we are? And maybe I'll be less confused about what's going on. Somehow, I doubt that.

Stats:

Ceodore: Lv 12 HP:278 MP:73 Strength:11 Speed:12 Stamina:10 Intellect:5 Spirit:11 Attack:25 (2x88% Accuracy) Defence:15 (1x20% Evasion) Magic Defence:1 (0x2% Evasion)
