Timecode - 0:13: Aku Daikan, the first game ever shown on Nocturnal Emissions. I'm obligated to include it, even though all that's shown is the game's live-action FMV intro.

Aku Daikan is a "corruption simulator" for the PS 2. You played an evil magistrate (that is what the title translates to in English, in fact) that had to protect your fortress from the righteous indignation of the vengeance-seeking peasants.

That's not at all clear from the intro, however. While Nocturnal Emissions was often entertaining, it wasn't the best place to learn what, exactly, was being shown to you.

The intro is a goofy little piece, focusing on three main characters: the portly magistrate himself, his scrawny assistant, and a chubby, mischievous ninja. It would seem that the ninja makes himself a nuisance at first, casting a spell on the assistant that turns his head into a lantern, which makes him chase the magistrate around until the spell wears off. The magistrate is upset at the ninja, but apparently, they join forces over their mutual greed. The scenes where the ninja is seen only in his underwear and he and the magistrate are "floating" in the air under an umbrella, much to the worry of the assistant, have a little Ho Yay.

Overall, it's kind of funny and random. Immediately after that?

1:44: Boobs! From the horrifically-dubbed anime trailer for Guilty Gear X2, the scene where the tortured Gear Dizzy throws her head back in pain, showing, well, underboob.

5:50: A clip from the intro for Nanobreaker, a poorly-received PS 2 action game from early 2005. Made by Konami, the game has a lot of blood "oil" from nanomachine-laden robots gone mad. In this game's crappy future, everyone was implanted with nanomachines - and this is exemplified by a scene of a young boy exploding all over a soldier from the nanomachines taking him over - offsreen, of course. Seems laden with Accidental Nightmare Fuel.

14:58: The intro to Edomono, which may translate to "Edo Person", from Global A Entertainment. It's another humorous historical simulation game with live-action FMV. What's interesting is how it has an actress playing Commodore Matthew C. Perry, who brought his "Black Ships" to Japan, effectively ending the country's isolation from the rest of the world.

21:37: The interesting trailer for Siren 2, the sequel to Siren, the Survival Horror game from the director of the first Silent Hill game. Unfortunately, Siren 2 was not brought over to America, even though it was dubbed into English for a UK release.

This trailer is actually a highly-stylized FMV. What's interesting is how it is narrated by onscreen captions - and they are in Japanese and English.

From the captions, we ascertain that the game takes place on Yami Island. Twenty nine years ago, a young girl washed up on the shores of the island, disturbing its serenity. A group of men is shown wielding tools to attack someone or something on the ground. Someone clutches their head and screams, before the trailer cuts away to show a raven.

A clock strikes midnight. "A devil returns", as a soldier blasts away at an unseen enemy. A young lady slowly stands up in a hallway.

"There is another me"

A man opens a door. "The Nightmare is resurrected" Behind the door, is an unnaturally angry-looking woman with white eyes.

The lady in the hall takes off her dress.

What could be the entrance to a cave is shown. "They are sealed in darkness"

Groping fingers crawl up a man's back. "Evil is spreading"

A wall of upside-down eyes are shown, along with other disturbing imagery, including a brief glimpse of a siren.

"And... The invasion has begun"

You don't know the half of it! Next time, I'll take you on a date. :'D

Personally, as someone that completed Siren to hell and back, I'm disappointed that Sony didn't bring over the sequel.
