Episode 8: Another one bites the dust

Well, now we have collected 4 out of the 8 badges in Kanto, but we still gotta defeat those Rockets at all costs! Who know what they’re doing to those poor Pokemon they mutated on the release day of Midori? So since we’re in Celadon, we may as well clear out the Game Corner Basement. It’s necessary anyway because we get a plot trinket here to advance further in the game.

Now the basement of the Celadon Game Corner is looted with goodies, stat enhancers, TM’s, Heal Items and Rare Candies but to get them, we have to step on these arrows so I step on the first and start to twirl. And it goes on and on and on and on and apply directly to the forehead and on and on...Zzzz...

Zzz...Hunh? We’re here now? Because Christ, that to for fucking ever, it would of faster just to walk from point A to point B. Thankfully they fixed that in the remakes.

So after a lot of twirling around slowly, battling grinding and collecting some sweet loot, I faced Giovanni for the first time. By now, you should know that my team is ridiculously overpowered and therefore Curb-Stomped Giovanni into the ground. Oh well, at least we got the Sliph Scope and can now progress further into the game.

So after a quick heal and Item Storage stop at the P.C in Celadon, I head over to the Lavender Tower to a) Beat Team Rocket b) Free the souls of the channelers from evil spirits by beating the crap out of them and c) To help the soul of the Mother Marowak rest in peace.

Now, and interesting thing about me, this part of the game always touched me as a child. Resting the Soul of a Marowak that was murdered was probably the darkest it got until Gen 5 with Ghetsis (Or arguably, Gen 4 with Cyrus) and it’s still a part of my Childhood that I fondly regard. So let’s get going!

I was lucky enough to find a Cubone (Crowbar) first before a Gastly or Haunter (which can evolve in the game due to lack of a Japanese copy of Red/Blue/Yell/Gold/Crystal/Silver in my possession) even though I probably won’t use him, it’s nice to have a Trophy Pokemon other than Clover. Otherwise, clearing the tower was no hard task and defeating the Rockets and getting the Pokeflute from Mr Fuji. It’s around this time that I renamed my Zubat to “Biscuits” and went over to catch the Snorlax blocking the road to Vermillion (Who I named Cans) before heading to Saffron and face off the Rockets for the third and final time (unless you count facing of Giovanni in the 8th Gym as the last time) at Sliph Co.

It was kinda like Celadon basement, only faster. Grab Sweet Loot, beat shit out of Rockets, find the item that allows you to go to Giovanni and then finally beat the everlasting crap out of ... OH GOD DAMN IT!

Why hello there Dave, yes I will fight you, this is a scripted event. BATTLE COMMENCE!

Oh it was an Epic Battle, Itchy ended up sweeping most of his team due to outspeeding all of his Pokemon, bar Alakazam who hit him with Psychic, leaving him with only a small bit of health left but Itchy finished him off with a single Peck.

Then it was down to Itchy the Fearow VS Dave’s Venusaur. So I was like “Pssht, Pushover.” And used Fly on him.

But it didn’t faint him. I hoped that Venusaur would do something stupid, like use Tail Whip or something idiotic like that.

But it didn’t happen, and Itchy... He died...

I lost my second Pokemon in a Nuzlocke. Grrr, DAMNIT! THIS IS WHY WE CAN’T HAVE NICE THINGS!

ERIDAN! FREEZE HIS ASS! And Eridan proceeded to do so.

While I did lose Itchy, I still have Eggs in storage. So I left the building, put Itchy in the DEAD box, brought Eggs out of retirement and raised him up to Level 43 to be on par with the rest of my team (It didn’t take long as he was on Level 37 anyway). I then proceeded to head up to Giovanni’s room and battle him (I also received the Lapras from the guy, and named him Stitch).

That was a Curb-Stomp Battle because of Fin and Eridan have TYPE ADVANTAGES over Giovanni’s team.

So then I sat on a bench and reflected on life as I lost two Pokemon and haven’t updated for like, a month. Oh well.
