The Final Beyond Final Trial

I'll admit, my first Pink Tail was a bit of a lucky break. However, to stand any chance against the final challenge this game can throw at me, I'll need either more of them, luck, or Level Grinding. At my current level, I now tear through the Flan Princesses, so let's take care of options 1 and 3 right now.

I stop when everyone hits level 99, because, honestly, I want to get this over with. The 5 Flan Princess fights give 10000 EXP a battle, which even in the high 90s is excessive.

By level 99, I only have one extra set of Adamant Armor. That's OK though, as that's two characters less likely to die to everything.

My party for this fight will be Rydia, Kain, Rosa, Cecil and Porom. The two White Mages get the Adamant Armors. While Rydia would do well with one, we need the White Mages to survive as long as possible.

On the way down to Brachioraidos again, I reach the library again and find this...

"Girls of Mysidia"? This looks educational, but... No.

Oh Cecil. Let's move on.

I land on the second town floor on the way and stock up on Megalixirs. I now have 171!

Of course, the RNG being the RNG, the Brachioraidos doesn't spawn when I want it to. It takes a couple of runs before I encounter him again. My strategy is spam Curaja, Arise, Flare and attack. There's not much else to use. Word of advice: Object 199 is so overpowered that not even the Adamant Armor helps against it. That's why we need both White Mages. When the countdown starts, my two White Mages get Reflect, and Kain Double Jumps. We need to revive Rydia and Cecil afterwards, but that's no problem.

Even then, sometimes we're just unlucky. Especially on timing. This is why we're using Flare and not Bahamut, we need the instant cast. He falls just after his second Megaflare.

Our reward for winning is great indeed. The Hero's Shield is the most powerful shield in the game, can be equipped by anyone, and has a special property; any resistances the character has are changed to absorptions. Combined with the Adamant Armor, any character will take Scratch Damage from anything Non-Elemental, and get healed by anything else.

Because, of course, you really need that after beating the hardest boss in the game. At least that's everything, right...?

WHAT DO YOU MEAN 99%!?

Well, it turns out I've missed a Lunar Ruins floor with 2 exclusive enemies; the Flan Floor. This floor has, well, nothing but Flans. You can also encounter 8 Flan Princesses in one battle if you linger too long. I'll clear this floor out at some point, but for now, we're moving on to Final Fantasy IV -Interlude-. See you next time.
