Fight It Out! Let's Play Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen

So our units are pumped up. And we are on a roll! next stage is our biggest map yet.

Scene 9: Legend

As you can see, this is a great stage for flying units.◊ If you had the (strange) idea to make a water unit, this map is it's time to shine! Anyway, off we go. The stage music is Viking Spirits.

The town of Mak'Aksaz is where most of tbe action will be. Sea units will also pass by Malden and Tokelau. They will also attempt to harrass Bipaoh, Mull Ro' Hha and Pittokyan if those towns are left ungarded. This means we have our work cut out for us! Destin defends the base, ready to vaporize any mermaid who gets the bad idea to drop by.

Jabb gets us a X: Fortune and 2 points of reputation. The southwest temple gets us XIV: Temperance.

An ugly war between the humans and the mer-people is brewing. Please try to stop it!

Mull Ro' Hha gets me XIX: Sun.

The Merpeople are hoping to run the humans out of Kastolat and create a country of their own. This used to be a peaceful place, but now there's constant fighting everywhere.

Mak'Aksaz gives me IX Hermit.

The Kastolatian sea is not even run by people! Who do you think runs it? Mermaids! Why should we humans have to rule under of a bunch of fishes?

The Northwest temple lands me another XIII Death. I'm gonna build a house out of them! There we meet a monk.

You are truly walking with the gods. Let me give you this sword. This is the white sword Brunhild! With this you can find the chaos gates and visit the sky islands!

And just with that we get the best sword in the game. Not only is Brunhild a +20 str white magic sword, BUT any unit with it can find the Chaos Gates. These unlock bonus stages where we will find 3 of our best heroes.

What's not to love? Tokelau gets me IV: Emperor.

Did you know? Eating mermaids makes you immortal! If you find any mermaids, let us know! We'll share them with you!

Oh my god... You sick... Seriously. Can we just side with the boss on this one? No? The game forces us to fight the mermaids to defend the murderous bastards. What the Hell, Hero?.

Pittokyan gets me another IX: Hermit. Malden gets me X: Fortune and +1 rep.

The leader of the mer-people, Porkyus, has been fooled by the Empire. Not that I blame her, we've harmed the mer-people for a long time now. But I am sure that for the empire, the mer-people are just pawns to throw at the rebels.

I can't exactly blame them for wanting revenge on the people who try to eat them either. Seriously, wtf with the people in this sea.

The temple SW of the center island gets me IV: Emperor and another armor of neil. Aisha's two angels get promoted to Cherubim. Another enemy gets me a new Blood Kiss. Pahpehte gets me XII: Hanged Man. Gilbert and Lyon reach level 12, and are promoted to Beast Masters. Both stones of Dragos are used to make them Dragoners. Tongalep gets me XIX: Sun a wizard also has a story to tell us.

Have you heard of the three High knights? The legend of the Ogre Battle ends with those three high knights saving humanity. The 3 High Knights are probably in heaven somewhere, watching this battle. If you stay on the way of kings and follow the gods you may meet them sometime. But I've heard the Empire is searching for them to prevent them from joining you! Please try to find the knights! As strong as you are, I know you can do it! If you want to meet the three High Knights, you will need the sword Brunhild.

Eventually Lans makes his way to the mermaid queen.

Why are you trying to stop us? What did King Gran ever do for us? We've been hunted by humans until now! But Endora has promised us a world where we will be safe. I can't allow you to stand in the way of that world!

Compared to Gares and Debonair, Porkyus is a joke. She has 4 mermaids with her, and she's a nixie. They will hammer you with frost attacks, but no one is particularly durable. And a simple hermit card devastates them. Defeating her nets me 69784 goths. Before leaving, better make sure to buy 10 7 leagues boots. These items will be really handy in the stages to come.

Ah, the age-old tale of choosing between the 'right' thing and the 'just' thing. Perhaps it was wrong to fight against the oppressed, but the salvation of the rest of the land was put at risk. Plus, crass as I may sound, the rumours about mermaids being delicious coupled with their leader having the word 'Pork' right in her name isn't a good sign.

It occurs to me that a sign one has made it far in life when your enemy decides to chase myths to prevent them from joining. Okay, sure, All Myths Are True, but still, they had no way to know that.
